Jaguars signed C Antoine Caldwell and waived/injured C Matt Stankiewitch.
Caldwell was out of the league last season after failing to make the Bills, but he does bring experience to the table. The 2009 third-round pick appeared in 39 games for the Texans across four seasons, starting 19 times. Aug 13 - 12:18 PM

Date:

Free agent OG Antoine Caldwell will participate in Jacksonville's rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.

As are DT Brian Price and WR Greg Childs. Caldwell couldn't crack the Bills' 53-man roster in training camp last summer, but is still only 28 with 39 career appearances under his belt.

Bills waived or released OG Antoine Caldwell, RB Zach Brown, OG Zach Chibane, S Jordan Dangerfield, TE Dorin Dickerson, CB Kip Edwards, RB Kendall Gaskins, DT Jarron Gilbert, CB T.J. Heath, WR Brandon Kaufman, LB Keith Pough, TE Nick Provo, LB Brian Smith and C David Snow.

A part-time player for the Texans the past four seasons, Caldwell was highly ineffective in six starts in 2012. Dickerson's potential has long intrigued, but he's never made an impact in the regular season.

Free agent OG Antoine Caldwell worked out for the Lions.

Caldwell, 27, started the first six games of the season at right guard for the Texans last season before being relegated to a reserve role. He has started 19 games over his career, and he has the ability to play all three interior positions. Caldwell would be solid veteran depth in Detroit.

Free agent OG Antoine Caldwell will visit the Giants.

The former Texan is also visiting the Steelers. Caldwell would be the third guard behind Kevin Boothe and Chris Snee in New York.

Free agent OG Antoine Caldwell is visiting the Steelers.

It's Caldwell's first visit of free agency. Coming off a sub-par, injury-plagued campaign with the Texans, Caldwell would likely compete with Ramon Foster at left guard in Pittsburgh.

Texans RG Antoine Caldwell has been medically cleared to play after last week's concussion.

Caldwell went down on Sunday Night Football. Rotating with rookie Ben Jones, Caldwell has graded out poorly as both a pass and run blocker by Pro Football Focus. Houston's right-side run blocking has been a big problem so far in 2012.

Texans RG Antoine Caldwell was forced from Sunday's game against the Texans with a concussion, and will not return.

It's bad news for a Texans' rushing attack that struggled in the first half, but Houston has a readymade fill-in in rookie Ben Jones. Off to a rough start this season, Caldwell should be considered week-to-week.

Texans RG Antoine Caldwell (ankle) is day-to-day, and could have re-entered Sunday's game.

It would appear Caldwell has avoided a high sprain. Caldwell was already rotating snaps with fourth-round rookie Ben Jones before going down, but should be active and starting for Week 5.
Mon, Oct 1, 2012 04:34:00 PM

Texans RG Antoine Caldwell left Sunday's Week 4 game against the Titans in the second quarter with a right ankle sprain.

It has the look of a serious injury as Caldwell got rolled up on and then had to be gingerly helped off. However, it's not a crippling blow to the Texans' dominant offensive line. Fourth-round rookie Ben Jones was rotating in anyway.

Texans RG Antoine Caldwell is "healthy and ready to go" after dealing with a high-ankle sprain throughout the 2011 season.

Mike Brisiel's departure to Oakland doesn't ensure that Caldwell will enter the starting lineup, but he's easily the front-runner for the job. Although Arian Foster's offensive line will have two new starters, Caldwell has gained plenty of experience as an injury fill-in over the past two seasons.

Texans OL Antoine Caldwell is expected to have a bigger role in 2012 after the departure of Mike Brisiel.

A third-round pick in 2009, Caldwell has 13 career starts, and competed with Brisiel for the starting right guard job in each of the last two training camps. A high-ankle sprain limited Caldwell to just five games in 2011.

Texans OG Antoine Caldwell suffered a high ankle sprain in Monday's preseason opener.

Caldwell is competing with Mike Brisiel for the right guard job. Kasey Studdard's ankle injury is more serious than Caldwell's, but the Texans are still awaiting test results.
Tue, Aug 16, 2011 05:38:00 PM

The Texans will rotate Antoine Caldwell and Mike Brisiel at right guard.

Brisiel started three weeks before going down with a knee injury. Caldwell played well in his absence, so the Texans will try to get the most out of both players going forward. No word yet on who will draw the start.

Antoine Caldwell will start at right guard for the Texans Sunday, but will rotate with Mike Brisiel.

This camp battle was so close that the Texans are letting it run into the regular season. The heated competition can only be a good thing for the Texans' running game, which was laughable last year.
