Jaguars DT Roy Miller has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus and will eventually require surgery.
It's poor timing for a player who just signed a four-year, $16.25 million extension, but isn't a major injury. Miller should be a full participant in the Jags' offseason program. Miller is a run plugger, nothing more, nothing less. Dec 19 - 12:07 AM

Jaguars declared DT Roy Miller, WR Tommy Streeter, CB Teddy Williams, CB Jeremy Harris, S Matt Daniels, OG Tyler Shatley and DE Andre Branch inactive for Week 16 against the Titans.

Miller just signed a four-year, $16.25 million extension on Tuesday, but is battling a sprained knee. As previously reported, Blake Bortles (foot) is ready to go as the Jags' quarterback on Thursday Night Football.

Jaguars signed DT Roy Miller to a four-year, $16.25 million contract extension through 2018.

A 2009 third-round pick of the Bucs going on 28 years of age, Miller has started 28 games since the beginning of last season, operating as a run plugger. He's been roughly league average through 492 snaps this season, but has graded out negatively in Pro Football Focus' ratings. Miller is not an impact player.

A source tells the Florida Times Union that the Jaguars are close to a contract extension with DT Roy Miller.

A third-round pick of the Bucs in 2009, Miller inked a two-year deal with the Jaguars prior to last season and was scheduled to reenter free agency in March. He's rotated on the interior of coach Gus Bradley's defense the last two years. Miller has 30 tackles and one sack across 14 starts this season.
Dec 16 - 12:17 PM

Jaguars DT Roy Miller (shoulder) has been limited at OTAs.

Miller tore cartilage in his shoulder early last season and was finally placed on I.R. in December after playing through the issue all year. He underwent surgery and expects to be "full go in late July" for training camp. Miller, Sen'Derrick Marks, Ziggy Hood, and Abry Jones will rotate at defensive tackle for the Jags.
Jun 1 - 10:06 AM

Updating a previous item, Jaguars DT Roy Miller was placed on injured reserve Monday with a shoulder injury.

Miller has been playing much of the season with a torn labrum and needs surgery. Coach Gus Bradley called it "incredible" how Miller played through the injury all year. He signed a two-year, $4.5 million deal with the Jags in March.

Jaguars placed DT Roy Miller on injured reserve, ending his season.

They signed DT Drake Nevis off the street to replace Miller for Week 17. Signed to a two-year, $4.5 million away from Tampa Bay this offseason, Miller wound up starting 15-of-15 games, operating as an early-down run stuffer. Unfortunately, he's not a great run defender. Miller is owed a $2.375 million base salary in 2014, no portion of which is guaranteed.

Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell says NT Roy Miller's knee tendinitis is no longer an issue.

Miller was still being held back in this week's minicamp, but Caldwell says the 310-pounder would suit up if he needed to play in a game this weekend. He'll be part of the rotation on the interior of Jags' defensive line.

Jaguars DT Roy Miller has been limited to individual drills at OTAs due to left knee tendinitis.

Miller has been out the entire offseason with the issue, and he's been "slowly bumping up everything, from conditioning to lifting weights." The soon-to-be 26-year-old said he dealt with the pain last season while with the Bucs. He'll probably be limited for the rest of OTAs, but Miller should be fine for camp.

Jaguars signed DT Roy Miller to a two-year contract.

It's a nifty signing for the rebuilding Jags. Going on 26, Miller comes cheap and was one of the anchors of Tampa's top-ranked run defense last season. Miller offers nothing as a pass-rusher, but will help clog up the middle for a run defense that allowed an unruly 141 yards per game in 2012.

NFL.com reports free agent DT Roy Miller will reach the open market.

Talks "broke off" last week, and apparently won't restart before next Tuesday. Miller is gambling on himself after being a part of the Bucs' historically good 2012 run defense, but may find his market surprisingly cold. He graded out poorly in Pro Football Focus' ratings, and comes off the field in passing situations.

Contract talks between the Bucs and free agent DT Roy Miller have "broken off."

Per the Tampa Bay Times, the two sides are "seemingly far apart." There's likely a gap between perceived value here as the Bucs ranked No. 1 in run defense last year, but Miller graded out well below average. "Roy is excited to see what's out there for him in free agency," said agent Mike McCartney. As a two-down interior tackle that only fits in a 4-3, Miller may find a softer market than he anticipates.
Thu, Feb 28, 2013 11:23:00 AM

The Tampa Bay Times reports there have been "no substantive contract talks" between the Bucs and free agent DT Roy Miller.

Miller was a 14-game starter for the Bucs' No. 1 run defense last season, but graded out poorly in Pro Football Focus' ratings. The 2009 third-round pick came off the bench in 2011 after starting all 16 games in 2010. Miller is a no-nonsense player, but comes off the field in passing situations. Second-year coach Greg Schiano could be looking for "his guy" at nose tackle this offseason.

Bucs declared DT Roy Miller (head) inactive for Sunday's Week 14 game against the Eagles.

The Bucs will be forced to roll with some combination of Gary Gibson and Corey Irvin to fill Miller's sizable shoes. It's excellent news for Bryce Brown as Miller is a key piece of the Bucs' No. 1 run defense. The rest of the Bucs' inactives: CB LeQuan Lewis, RB Michael Smith, LB Najee Goode, WR David Douglas, WR David Gilreath and DT Matthew Masifilo.

Bucs NT Roy Miller (head) returned to practice on Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 13 against the Eagles.

Miller missed Wednesday and Thursday's practices, but his return on Friday suggests he's at least passed most of the NFL's protocol concussion testing. Beat writer Stephen Holder expects Miller to play against Philadelphia, although Bucs coach Greg Schiano stated Friday, "We're going to be cautious."
