Seahawks re-signed WR Deon Butler.

The Lions worked out free agent wide receivers Deon Butler, Brian Robiskie and Legedu Naanee on Tuesday.

The Lions are in the market for wideout depth with Nate Burleson (leg) done for the year. Naanee is the best blocker in the group while Butler's speed gives him the most upside as a receiver. Butler has been on the street since the Seahawks cut him just before Week 1 this season.

The Saints are working out free agent WR Deon Butler.

It's Butler's first workout since he was cut loose by the Seahawks. A 2009 third-round pick, injury limited Butler to five games and six catches last season. He'd be a pure depth signing for the Saints. In addition to Butler, the Saints worked out Jason Hill, Preston Parker, Brian Robiskie and Rashied Davis.

Seahawks waived DB Phillip Adams, DE Pierre Allen, LB Allen Bradford, WR Deon Butler, WR Kris Durham, G Paul Fanaika, G Rishaw Johnson, WR Jermaine Kearse, LB Kyle Knox, WR Ricardo Lockette, TE Sean McGrath, DE Cordarro Law, C Kris O'Dowd, QB Josh Portis, DB DeShawn Shead, LB Korey Toomer, and WR Lavasier Tuinei.

Butler was a third-round pick in 2009, but hasn't been the same since suffering a compound leg fracture in 2010. Bradford was unable to make the transition from tailback. Portis was a favorite of coach Pete Carroll, but the team will go with only two quarterbacks.

Seahawks WR Deon Butler "looks like he's back to his old self" after a 2010 compound leg fracture limited his impact throughout the 2011 season.

The 2009 third-rounder entered the league as a situational deep threat, but he's been running as the first-team slot receiver with Doug Baldwin (hamstring) sidelined. With Sidney Rice, Golden Tate, Braylon Edwards and Ben Obomanu likely locked in at receiver, Butler isn't yet assured of a roster spot.

Deon Butler caught one pass for eight yards in Seattle's Week 14 win over the Rams.

Active for just the second time since coming off the PUP list on November 8, the grab was Butler's first catch of the season. Under contract for only $565,000 in 2012, the former third-round pick should get a chance to earn a roster spot in camp.

Seahawks activated WR Deon Butler (compound leg fracture) from reserve/PUP.

Butler has been practicing for three weeks, and Tuesday is the deadline to activate players from the PUP list. Now 11 months removed from his gruesome leg injury, Butler will be no higher than fifth or six on the depth chart the rest of the way.

Seahawks placed WR Deon Butler (compound leg fracture) on the reserve/PUP list.

Butler may have been left off the Seahawks' final roster had he not landed on the PUP list. He'll be first eligible to return in Week 8 against the Bengals. He hauled in 36 catches for 385 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games a year ago.

Seahawks WR Deon Butler (compound leg fracture), DT Colin Cole (ankle), TE Cameron Morrah (toe), and CB Roy Lewis (knee) are not expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. listed on its preseason opener gamebook that Butler played, but he remains on the active/PUP list. At this point, it would be a surprise if he makes the final roster. Morrah was an offseason deep sleeper at tight end, but he's battling a toe injury and now third on the depth chart.

Seahawks WR Deon Butler was active for and participated in last Thursday night's preseason opener.

With Sidney Rice (shoulder) and Big Mike Williams (toe) held out as precautions, Butler came off the bench behind Golden Tate and Isaiah Stanback. It's an ominous sign for a player coming off a compound leg fracture who's in danger of missing the final cut. We wouldn't bet on Butler making the Seahawks.

Seahawks WR Deon Butler (compound leg fracture) was "moving well" while running routes at Pacific Lutheran University football camp this week.

Butler is not yet fully healthy, however. The 2009 third-rounder was unable to run full speed a month ago, and he readily admits he couldn't beat 37-year-old safety Lawyer Milloy in a race right now. There's a chance Butler will start training camp on the PUP list.

Seahawks WR Deon Butler is unable to run at full speed as he continues to recover from a compound tibia, fibula fracture.

Butler was "able to jog a bit" at Seahawks player-organized workouts on Friday, but he's still in rehab mode from the December injury. He's not participating in any drills. Butler's roster spot should be safe if the Seahawks don't sign a big-ticket free agent wideout. If they land someone like James Jones, Butler will have to fight hard to stick around.

Coach Pete Carroll indicated that WR Deon Butler is "way ahead of schedule" in his recovery from the December double fracture in his right leg.

Butler's injury, similar to the one suffered by Leon Washington in his last year with the Jets, is still considered career-threatening. He's not a lock to be on the Seahawks' Week 1 roster in September.
