Bucs released DT Corvey Irvin and waived CB James Rogers and G Derek Hardman.

Irvin, 28 tomorrow, recorded six tackles in 12 games for the Bucs last season. He was made expendable after the team drafted three defensive linemen.

Irvin was waived by the Panthers in early September after running as a starter in training camp. He'll add depth on the interior with run-plugging NT "Pot Roast" Knighton expected to miss another game.

Lions signed DT Corvey Irvin to their practice squad

Irvin never panned out as a 2009 third-round pick in Carolina, but the Lions likely had a high grade on him coming out of Georgia. Irvin might move up to the active roster if Nick Fairley suffers a setback with his stress fracture.

Panthers waived DT Corvey Irvin, DT Nick Hayden, CB Kendric Burney, OL John Gianninoto, DE Malcolm Tatum, WR Darvin Adams, and DT Deljuan Robinson.

The Panthers are now down to 70 players; this is no easy process. Burney and Adams are expected to receive practice squad consideration in Carolina. Adams was Cam Newton's pal at Auburn. Irvin has busted as a former third-round pick.

Panthers waived DT Corvey Irvin.

The Panthers have now cut two former third-round defensive tackles in one day. Irvin was coming off a torn MCL and never lived up to his potential out of Georgia anyway.

Panthers placed DT Corvey Irvin on injured reserve with a torn MCL, ending his season.

You're not going to find a worse interior defensive line situation in the league. Irvin, a third-round pick, was being counted on for a big role with Ma'ake Kemoeatu out for the year. For fantasy running back matchups, remember that Carolina's defense projects to be very poor against the run.

Panthers agreed to terms with third-round DT Corvey Irvin on a four-year, $2.42 milloin contract, including a $670,000 signing bonus.

All Carolina's rookies are signed save Sherrod Martin. Irvin's play didn't stand out in any area at Georgia, but he's being counted on for a big role behind Ma'ake Kemoeatu and Damione Lewis. The Panthers are thin on both lines.

Panthers selected Georgia DT Corvey Irvin with the No. 93 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Irvin offers size potential at 6'3/301, although he doesn't do anything especially well. His 8.5 tackles for loss as a senior doesn't show dominating penetration ability. He's another body Carolina is desperate for inside.
