Titans CB Ryan Mouton suffered a concussion in the team's third preseason game Thursday night.
Though typically a day-to-day injury, it's one that could cost Mouton a roster spot with final cuts approaching. Mouton had fallen behind Tommie Campbell in the race for nickel back duties. He may need to clear up quickly to stick. Thu, Aug 23, 2012 10:18:00 PM

Titans CB Ryan Mouton is competing with Alterraun Verner for the slot role in nickel packages.

A 2009 third-round pick, Mouton is recovered from a torn Achilles and in the mix for a significant role this season. Verner, Tommie Campbell, Chris Hawkins, Coty Sensabaugh, and Terrence Wheatley will give Mouton plenty of competition for snaps opposite of Jason McCourty.

Titans CB Ryan Mouton is practicing on a limited basis at OTAs after tearing his right Achilles' tendon last August.

"He came out this past week and he’s doing a good job in individuals," said DC Jerry Gray. "He’s turning. He’s a little rusty on the technique, but as far as quickness, you can see that. He has some quickness." Mouton was a third-round pick in the 2009 draft. He'll be fighting for a roster spot this summer.

Titans CB Ryan Mouton (Achilles) was able to sprint last week for the first time since his injury in August.

Mouton has appeared in only nine games since 2009, but with Cortland Finnegan gone via free agency, he'll be in the mix for snaps in 2012, according to GM Ruston Webster. Tennessee's nickel corner job is open behind starters Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner. A third-round pick in 2009, Mouton's main competition will come from Chris Hawkins and Tommie Campbell.

Titans placed CB Ryan Mouton on injured reserve with a torn right Achilles' tendon, ending his season.

He had season-ending surgery today. Mouton will be missed on special teams after racking up seven tackles in just seven appearances on Tennessee's kickoff and punt coverage units last year. His loss won't be felt on defense with Jason McCourty and Vincent Fuller locked in as sub-package DBs behind starters Cortland Finnegan and Alterraun Verner.

Titans CB Ryan Mouton will undergo season-ending surgery on his torn right Achilles tendon on Thursday.

The third-year defensive back was expected to serve as one of the Titans' linchpins on special teams this season. Achilles injuries can be particularly tough to come back from, so it's not a guarantee that we'll see Mouton back on the field in 2012. He is just 24 years old, however.

The Titans fear CB Ryan Mouton suffered a torn right Achilles' tendon in Tuesday's practice.

Mouton is scheduled for an MRI in the morning, but "all indications" are his season is over. According to beat writer Jim Wyatt, Mouton was in the mix for playing time this year after a fine first week of camp.

Titans placed CB Ryan Mouton (hamstring) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The extent of his injury is unknown. Mouton, a third-round pick in the 2009 draft, was handily beat out by Jason McCourty and rookie Alterraun Verner for snaps on defense this year. He'll be on the roster bubble in 2011.

Ryan Mouton ran with the first-team at the outset of training camp.

Jason McCourty is taking a backseat for now, but coach Jeff Fisher said there will be rotation. Look for the more talented Mouton to end up winning this battle to start opposite Cortland Finnegan.

Ryan Mouton worked with the first-team defense Tuesday after playing behind Jason McCourty all offseason.

Veterans Rod Hood (ACL tear) and Tye Hill (hamstring) are out of the picture. The Titans wanted to reward McCourty for a diligent performance in offseason workouts, but Mouton is considered the better talent. The two will stage a training camp battle for the starting job.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher confirmed that Ryan Mouton, Jason McCourty, Tye Hill and Rod Hood will be competing for the starting corner job opposite Cortland Finnegan.

The Titans could also very well draft a corner to help a unit that ranked 31st against the pass last season, but it sounds like Fisher wants one of these four to win the job. We'd consider Mouton, who is the most talented of the group, the favorite right now.

Titans CB Ryan Mouton left Friday night's loss to the Chargers with an ankle injury and did not return.

The Titans secondary was really thin last night and it showed. With Mouton and starting left cornerback Nick Harper (forearm) sidelined, Philip Rivers predictably picked them apart.

Titans rookie returner Ryan Mouton lost two fumbles, each resulting in a touchdown for the Jets Sunday.

Mouton coughed up the first kickoff return and later dropped a punt return that ultimately put the Titans away for good. Tennessee doesn't have another option on punts, but they may turn back to Javon Ringer on kickoffs.

Rookie Ryan Mouton is expected to be the Titans' punt returner Sunday against the Texans.

Mouton has been bothered by a high ankle sprain since Aug. 18. Without him, Cortland Finnegan struggled badly as the punt returner. Mouton is a big upgrade.
Tue, Sep 15, 2009 10:13:00 AM

Titans rookie CB Ryan Mouton (ankle) returned to practice over the weekend.

Mouton is the top candidate for punt returns with Mark Jones is gone, but his status for Thursday's opener remains in question. Cortland Finnegan and Kenny Britt are options to fill in temporarily, though they will both be starting.
