Bucs waived LB Tyrone McKenzie.

McKenzie was the No. 97 overall pick in the 2009 draft, but tore his ACL in his rookie minicamp. There's reason to believe he still hasn't regained full effectiveness. The Bucs will start rookie Mason Foster at middle linebacker.

Bucs third-year LB Tyrone McKenzie has taken on an unlikely leadership role this offseason.

McKenzie is an unlikely leader for Tampa because he was only on the Bucs' roster for a few months last year after requesting his release from the Patriots. The USF alum has taken an active role in organizing players-only activities. It could help his chances of securing a backup job on the 53-man roster.

Bucs signed LB Tyrone McKenzie off their practice squad.

McKenzie, who requested his release from the Patriots last month, will provide depth to a linebacking corps that recently lost Quincy Black for the season.

Patriots waived ILB Tyrone McKenzie.

The Pats allegedly had designs on McKenzie replacing Eric Alexander as a special teams stalwart, but will go with newly acquired Tracy White instead. The 97th overall pick in 2009, McKenzie will be worth a look on waivers.

Tom Curran of CSN New England expects Patriots ILB Tyrone McKenzie to fill the shoes of LB Eric Alexander as special teams' leader.

Alexander was a special teams ace, so McKenzie has a lot of work to do. He has the skill set to excel; it's just a matter of him coming to play on Sundays.

Patriots ILB Tyrone McKenzie (ACL surgery) is expected to participate in next week's OTAs.

It doesn't sound like McKenzie will be cleared for contact just yet, but he's recovering nicely after tearing his ACL three practices into rookie camp last season. McKenzie may be eased back in with special teams work now that second-rounder Brandon Spikes is on board.

Patriots ILB Tyrone McKenzie (ACL surgery) is expected to fully participate in all offseason minicamps.

McKenzie will have had a full 12 months to recover by the start of spring practices after tearing his ACL at New England's initial 2009 minicamp. The former third-round pick has an impressive skill set and is a sleeper to start. McKenzie has speed, an area where the Pats need to upgrade defensively.

Patriots signed third-round LB Tyrone McKenzie to a four-year contract, including a $631,000 signing bonus.

McKenzie wasn't a holdout; he tore his ACL during the Pats' first offseason minicamp and will miss the season. The No. 97 overall pick projects as an inside linebacker in New England's 3-4. He'll battle for a roster spot in 2010.

Rookie LB Tyrone McKenzie tore his ACL at the Patriots' first offseason minicamp. He'll be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

McKenzie, the second of the Pats' two third-round picks, was slated to battle Tedy Bruschi for snaps at inside linebacker and help on special teams. The untimely injury happened in a non-contact drill. Bruschi's job is now safe.

Patriots rookie OLB Tyrone McKenzie injured his right knee in Saturday's practice.

We'll let you know if it's serious. Considering it's the Patriots, that will only be when he's placed on injured reserve. McKenzie is in line to compete for snaps right away at inside linebacker.

Patriots selected South Florida OLB Tyrone McKenzie with the No. 98 overall pick in the 2009 Draft.

After picking up two second round picks in next year's draft for fourth round picks, New England had to use this one because it was compensatory. McKenzie was very productive, but bounced between three colleges. McKenzie is a high effort player who has three down ability and projects to be an inside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. He'll compete with Gary Guyton to ultimately replace Tedy Bruschi.
