Coach Jason Garrett said it's "reasonable" to expect to see Henry Melton (knee) on the field sometime this spring and certainly for training camp.

Melton underwent surgery for a torn ACL in October and may not be ready for OTAs. However, he should see the field some during minicamp and be all systems go for training camp this summer. Melton's rehab is on schedule, and he recently signed a team-friendly deal to serve as Dallas' new three-technique pass rusher. Finding a nose tackle to pair with Melton is a top priority.

Cowboys DT Henry Melton's contract with Dallas can range from as little as a one-year, $2.25 million pact to a four-year, $29 million deal.

The structure is extremely team friendly, suggesting Melton was discouraged by his market. The only guaranteed money is a $1 million signing bonus. Melton can earn up to $5 million in 2014 via per-game roster bonuses and incentives. The Cowboys will have a big decision to make on Melton next offseason. If they exercise a $1,000 "option bonus" in March of 2015, they'll guarantee Melton a $9 million base salary and lock him up through the 2017 season.

FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports Henry Melton's deal is a one-year contract that turns into a four-year agreement if he's on the Cowboys' roster the first day of the 2015 league year.

Per Garafolo, more guaranteed money will also kick in if Melton survives the first day of the next league year. It's creative structuring that could pan out in a big way for Dallas if Melton bounces back from his torn ACL for a strong 2014.

Cowboys agreed to terms with DT Henry Melton, formerly of the Bears.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's a multi-year pact. It's a deal both sides have wanted to get done since the start of free agency, but Melton still made the rounds on the open market, visiting Seattle and St. Louis in addition to the Cowboys. The Vikings were also interested. Melton will be reuniting with DC Rod Marinelli, the man who moved him from end to tackle in Chicago. Melton is recovering from a torn ACL, but will provide a badly needed disruptive presence along the Cowboys' patchwork line as long as he's healthy.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports free agent DT Henry Melton is visiting the Rams on Tuesday.

Melton is easily the top free agent left on the market. He's already had visits with the Vikings, Seahawks, and Cowboys and also remains in contact with the Bears. Bryan Broaddus of the Cowboys' official website reports Melton's surgically-repaired knee checked out well. In St. Louis, Melton would likely slide in as the starter next to Michael Brockers, pushing Kendall Langford to No. 3 duties.

Free agent DT Henry Melton is being sued for "a sum greater than $1 million," stemming from his public intoxication and assault arrest on December 23.

Around 2 AM on December 23, Melton was asked to leave Chill, a Texas sports bar. He then became "belligerent" and allegedly bit the bar owner, Donald Payne, in the lower back and pierced the skin. Melton's agent, Jordan Woy, denies the claims and plans to hold Chill "accountable" for damages Melton suffered.

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reports the Vikings are "still maintaining dialogue" with free agent DT Henry Melton.

Melton met with the Vikings earlier this week and is also drawing interest from Seattle and Dallas. In Minnesota, Melton would be an upgrade over Sharrif Floyd in Mike Zimmer's 4-3 scheme opposite Linval Joseph. Melton is five months removed from ACL surgery and expected to be ready for training camp.

Free agent DT Henry Melton will visit the Cowboys after the Seahawks.

Melton isn't expected to sign with Seattle on his visit, unless he his blown away by an offer. Melton has expressed a desire to play for the Cowboys in his home state of Texas. If Jerry Jones can work the money right and fit Melton into the budget, he'd be a much-needed talent for a currently-talentless defensive line.

Free agent DT Henry Melton will visit the Seahawks on Friday.

As if the Seahawks needed to get stronger up front on the defensive line. Melton, 27, entered free agency as our No. 12 overall player available and would have been higher if he wasn't coming off a September torn ACL. Melton's market has been relatively quiet -- he's visited the Vikings -- but if he's struggling to find better than one-year offers, going to Seattle to rehab his value on a prove-it deal could be the best option. Melton had 13 sacks from 2011-12.

As day three of NFL free agency nears a close, Henry Melton is Rotoworld's top-rated defensive tackle left unsigned.

Melton is currently in Minneapolis visiting the Vikings. There is a healthy amount of defensive line talent still available, including Julius Peppers, Jared Allen, Antonio Smith, Corey Wootton, B.J. Raji, and Alex Carrington. For a comprehensive list of all the free agents left on the board, click the link below.

Free agent DT Henry Melton will visit the Vikings on Thursday.

To date, Melton had only been linked to the Cowboys, but it appears Big D won't even be his first visit. With DT Kevin Williams expected to move on in free agency, Melton would slide right in along the Vikings' 4-3 line.
Mar 12 - 2:11 PM

The Cowboys' official website reports the team is targeting free agent DT Henry Melton, and that there's "lots of mutual interest."

According to writer Jeff Sullivan, a deal "could happen quickly." The Cowboys are desperately thin along their defensive line, and have made Dallas-native Melton their top target. Melton hasn't been linked to any other teams.

ESPN Dallas reports the Cowboys "have interest" in free agent DT Henry Melton.

Melton is a Dallas native, while his agent recently said he'd have interest in playing for Big D. The problem is that, as usual, the Cowboys have essentially no salary-cap maneuverability. The market's top defensive tackle, Melton is likely out of the Cowboys' price range.
Mar 10 - 4:11 PM

ESPN Chicago confirms free agent DT Henry Melton will test the open market.

Per Bears beat reporter Michael C. Wright, Melton already has "multiple suitors." Free agency's top defensive tackle, Melton would ideally be a priority for the Bears. He's coming off October ACL surgery, but is one of the best three techniques in the game when healthy. Chicago can clear a ton of salary cap space quickly if it so chooses, and is desperately needy on the defensive line.
