Redskins signed S David Bruton, formerly of the Broncos, to a three-year, $9 million contract.
It's a nice signing for a team that received arguably the league's worst safety play in 2015. Bruton has been a key reserve for the Broncos since 2009, and was having a strong 2015 before breaking his leg late in the year. Bruton is a core special teamer who should be one of the Redskins' top three safeties in 2016. Mar 15 - 4:42 PM

Per ESPN's John Keim, the Broncos also remain interested in re-signing Bruton. Bruton played 497 effective snaps last season before breaking his leg.

Free agent S David Bruton said he's "heard" the Bears, Dolphins, and Giants are interested in him.

The Bears connection makes sense from a mere dot-connecting standpoint, as coach John Fox was with Bruton in Denver. Bruton has started just eight games total since being a 2009 fourth-round pick of the Broncos, but he figures to draw heavy interest because of his special teams prowess. Bruton said he's looking for a deal in the three-year, $15 million range.

Broncos placed S David Bruton on injured reserve with a broken leg, ending his season.

DB Shaun Prater has been promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. The Broncos' No. 3 safety somehow played through the ailment on Sunday. Bruton also missed time earlier this month with a sprained knee. Going on 29, Bruton will be a free agent in March. He's spent his entire seven-year career as a reserve for the Broncos.

Broncos S David Bruton played through a broken right fibula in Sunday's loss to the Steelers, but is "going to miss time."

Bruton suffered the injury in the first quarter. It's incredible he remained on the field with what is now slated to be a 4-6 week injury. Bruton was already slowed by a knee issue earlier this month. The Broncos' safety corps is majorly banged up.

Broncos SS David Bruton has a sprained MCL and PCL.

That's in addition to a bone bruise. It's a problem, as FS T.J. Ward (ankle) remains week to week, and Omar Bolden has a hamstring issue. Bruton should miss at least Week 14, and possibly much more.

Broncos SS David Bruton exited Week 13 against the Chargers with a knee injury.

He was helped off the field late in the fourth quarter and did not return. Omar Bolden also left late in the game with a groin injury, and T.J. Ward was inactive because of a high-ankle sprain. It is possible all three miss next week against the Raiders. Denver may have to make a roster move.

Broncos SS David Bruton suffered a hip injury in Sunday's win over the Ravens.

To make matters worse, Bruton's backup Omar Bolden later departed with a foot injury, leaving heavy snaps for Josh Bush. Both players have just four days to get healthy for Denver's Week 2 trip to Kansas City. It's quite likely Bush will be getting the start at Arrowhead Stadium.

Broncos S David Bruton made a "big jump" in spring practices.

"Every year that I’ve been here he’s improved slightly every year," assistant DBs coach Sam Garnes said. "And this year he made a big jump." A special teams standout, Bruton has never been asked to play much defense in his four seasons with the Broncos. He could push SS Mike Adams for the starting job this summer, but it's unlikely that Bruton will unseat him.

Broncos DC Jack Del Rio has given S David Bruton a long look during the team's offseason program.

Bruton primarily played special teams in his first four seasons, and saw just 34 snaps on defense last year. At 6-foot-2 and 211 pounds, Bruton is bigger than Mike Adams, the incumbent starter at strong safety. Quentin Jammer is also posing a legitimate threat to start this year.

Broncos re-signed S David Bruton to a three-year, $4.5 million contract.

25-year-old Bruton doesn't play on defense, but he is a force as a special teams gunner. His return should not affect Denver's plans to upgrade at safety.

According to the Denver Post, the Broncos are "hoping to re-sign" free agent S David Bruton.

Bruton played just 35 snaps on defense last season, but is a special teams linchpin. Unless someone wants to give the former fourth-round pick a chance on defense, Bruton should be back in Denver.

Broncos S David Bruton was shaken up in the third quarter of Saturday's Divisional round playoff game at New England.

Bruton is out for the game with a concussion. He was starting in place of Brian Dawkins. Backups Rahim Moore and Rafael Bush are now the safeties in a 42-7 game with the Patriots still operating out of the no-huddle offense.

Broncos S David Bruton (concussion) returned to action Friday, participating in the pre-practice walkthrough.

He should be good to go. Bruton, 24, was thankfully diagnosed with only a concussion after leaving Denver's second preseason game in an ambulance. The Notre Dame alum had 10 special teams tackles in 16 games last year.

That's actually good news after Bruton had to leave the stadium in an ambulance on Saturday evening. A reserve, Bruton appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos last season, notching 26 tackles. His roster spot is likely secure.
