Jets waived DB DeAngelo Smith and LB Eddie Jones.
Smith must not have shown much in OTAs, as he was just signed a month ago. The former University of Cincinnati star hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2009. Jones spent time on the practice squads of the Rams and Jets after going undrafted out of Texas. Tue, May 22, 2012 05:55:00 PM

Jets signed DB DeAngelo Smith to a one-year contract.

It's a pure flier for the Jets, as the former fifth-round pick hasn't appeared in a game since 2009, and drew just one known workout in 2011. At best, Smith may survive until final cuts.

Smith is visiting the Jets this weekend. The former University of Cincinnati star has experience at both cornerback and safety, but he hasn't played in an NFL game since the 2009 season.

Lions waived DB DeAngelo Smith.

It's not a good sign when you play corner and get cut by the Lions. Smith, a 2009 fifth-round pick from Cincinnati, appeared in seven games and made 16 stops as a rookie. The Lions stole Amari Spievey in the third round Friday.

Lions re-signed exclusive rights free agent CB DeAngelo Smith to a one-year contract.

Smith, a 2009 fifth-round pick out of Cincinnati, took on a bigger role than the Lions would've liked late last season, and had 16 tackles and a pass breakup in the final seven games. Ideally, they will upgrade this offseason.

Lions signed DB DeAngelo Smith off the Bears' practice squad.

Smith steps in for Marquand Manuel, who is lost for the year. He'll likely play safety in Detroit's man-to-man scheme, rather than corner. Smith may have to play snaps immediately considering how banged up Detroit's secondary is. If Brady Quinn can't get first downs this week, he will reach new lows.

Cowboys agreed to terms with fifth-round S DeAngelo Smith on a four-year contract.

Smith was strictly a cornerback at Cincinnati, but the Cowboys envision both him and Alan Ball as a versatile enough to also handle safety. An option to return punts, he'll concentrate mostly on special teams as a rookie.
