Cardinals re-signed S Chris Clemons.
He's taking the roster spot of Tyrann Mathieu, who was officially placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Clemons was a 16-game starter for the Dolphins in both 2012 and 2013, but has made only six appearances since. He'll be a deep reserve for Arizona's playoff run. Tue, Dec 22, 2015 02:01:00 PM

Cardinals placed S Chris Clemons on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.

Clemons has been slowed by hamstring issues all season. The veteran will likely be released off I.R. with an injury settlement once he's back to full health.

Chris Clemons exited the Cardinals' Week 5 game against the Lions with a left hamstring injury and is questionable to return.

It's an aggravation of a previous injury. Clemons entered today having played just 20 snaps all season. He will have an MRI on Monday.

Cardinals signed S Chris Clemons.

He'll take the roster spot of RB Andre Ellington (sports-hernia surgery, injured reserve). Clemons will provide veteran depth while the Cards wait for FS Tyrann Mathieu's thumb to heal.

Free agent S Chris Clemons worked out for the Falcons.

After losing SS William Moore (shoulder) to short-term I.R. this week, the Falcons are in dire need of safety help. For now, 2013 seventh-rounder Kemal Ishmael is expected to start next to FS Dwight Lowery. Clemons is probably the best safety on the street. He started 32-of-32 games for Miami from 2012-2013.

The Dolphins have expressed interest in free agent S Chris Clemons.

Clemons was a surprise cut by Houston last week. With Reshad Jones suspended the first four games, he could be brought back as veteran depth behind Jimmy Wilson. Miami likely won't consider signing Clemons until after Week 1 to avoid having to pay him a guaranteed salary.

Texans released FS Chris Clemons.

The move is a big surprise after Houston gave Clemons $450,000 guaranteed in March. As Reshad Jones will open the season on suspension for the Dolphins, Miami might want to look into bringing Clemons back. The Texans' free safety job will likely now go to Kendrick Lewis, a longtime Romeo Crennel favorite.

Texans signed FS Chris Clemons to a two-year, $2.7 million contract.

Houston its overhauling its safety corps, landing Clemons and Kendrick Lewis, and bringing back Danieal Manning on a pay cut. Sophomore D.J. Swearinger also returns. Clemons, 28, started 32-of-32 games for the Dolphins the past two seasons. Although he isn't a big-time playmaker, Clemons can cover the deep middle and is a productive tackler, racking up 191 stops the past two seasons. He was a top-20 safety in Pro Football Focus' 2013 ratings.

Free agent FS Chris Clemons is visiting the Texans.

Clemons has a connection with new Texans director of pro personnel Brian Gaine from their Miami days. Clemons' market has been extremely quiet but he's one of the better players available. He can cover the back end and would provide an upgrade on Shiloh Keo. Clemons is our top remaining free-agent safety.

Free agent FS Chris Clemons is visiting the Lions.

The Lions are on the prowl for a safety and visited with Thomas DeCoud earlier on Friday before he left town without a deal. Clemons is our No. 1 remaining free-agent safety, though he's not a real playmaker or ballhawk. He's above average in coverage on the back end but struggles at times versus the run.

The New York Daily News reports free agent FS Chris Clemons is "on the Jets' radar."

He'd be a better schematic fit for the Jets than Donte Whitner, as Clemons is a true center-field safety and would complement in-the-box type SS Dawan Landry. Clemons is an excellent cover guy, though he's a bit shaky in run support and hasn't been a playmaker. The Dolphins are not expected to re-sign him.

ESPN Dolphins blogger James Walker reports that re-signing free agent FS Chris Clemons "isn't a priority."

Clemons started all 16 games last season, finishing with 93 tackles and an interception. The Dolphins are looking to upgrade at safety opposite Reshad Jones, so Clemons will be allowed to test the open market. Clemons figures to be limited to one-year deals in free agency. He turns 29 this offseason.

Dolphins re-signed FS Chris Clemons to a one-year, $2.75 million contract.

Clemons was a 16-game starter for the Dolphins' No. 21 defense last season, grading out above-average against both the pass and the run. His return guarantees some stability in a secondary that could lose free agent Sean Smith.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have held "extensive discussions" with free agent FS Chris Clemons about re-signing.

Clemons, 27, started all 16 games in 2012 and recorded a career-high 99 tackles, while being above-average against both the pass and the run. Clemons and Brian Hartline are the only two players out of a slew of their own potential free agents that the Dolphins have had substantive talks with about coming back.
