Lawrence was waived earlier this season after failing to make the club out of training camp. No Kansas City receivers or return men are listed on the injury report, so if Lawrence is active he'll likely just serve as a backup.

Coach Todd Haley says he considers 2009 sixth-round pick Quinten Lawrence a "core" player for the Chiefs heading to 2010.

Lawrence cleared waivers twice in his first year and didn't get involved on offense, but Haley sees him as a potential return man of the future. "He’s a young, developing guy," Haley said. "He's continued to make strides."

Chiefs released WR Quinten Lawrence and activated G Darryl Harris from the practice squad.

Lawrence was the Chiefs' primary kick returner in Weeks 12 and 13, but lost that job to Lance Long last week. With Dwayne Bowe back, there's no need for Lawrence.

Lawrence was the Chiefs' sixth-round pick out of McNeese State. They thought of him as a kick returner but he appeared in just two games, returned one kickoff and catching zero balls. He's a practice squad candidate.

Chiefs agreed to terms with sixth-round WR Quinten Lawrence on a three-year, $1.275 million contract. The deal includes a $90,000 signing bonus.

Lawrence recorded just eight catches after breaking his ankle as a McNeese State senior. He won't contribute much on offense, but he has the speed and moves to take over as the Chiefs kickoff and punt returner as soon as this season.

KC's return game has been dreadful since Dante Hall. We didn't expect Lawrence to be drafted after he broke his ankle and had only eight catches as a McNeese State senior, but he can run. He just won't help on offense.
