Zach Miller caught 8-of-9 targets for 78 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3 against Dallas.
Miller scored both of Chicago’s touchdowns, including one a fourth-and-goal pass from Brian Hoyer in the third quarter. He’s been more involved under Hoyer the last two weeks, and is settling in as the No. 2 pass game option. Miller will be a touchdown-dependent TE2 for a matchup with Detroit in Week 4. Date:

Zach Miller caught 4-of-5 targets for 33 yards in the Bears' Week 2 loss to the Eagles.

The Eagles have long been stingy against opposing tight ends. Miller has seven grabs for 47 yards through two games and is unlikely to ever be on the TE1 map until bye weeks hit. He gets the Cowboys in Week 3.
Sep 20 - 12:26 AM

Zach Miller caught 3-of-4 targets for 14 yards Week 1 against the Texans.

Miller did not make a notable play all game. He will remain in the TE2 conversation next week against the Eagles, but he could quickly fall out of starting consideration if he does not pick it up.
Sep 11 - 6:14 PM

Bears TE Zach Miller and WR Eddie Royal returned to full practice Monday.

Both had been limited for almost a month because of concussions. Now fully cleared, both can return to game action, although it is unlikely either suits up in the preseason finale Thursday night. Miller has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, but he has TE1 upside if he can remain on the field.

Bears TE Zach Miller and WR Eddie Royal will not play Saturday against the Chiefs.

Both have returned to practice, but the Bears are being cautious as the duo recover from concussions. Miller has TE1 upside if he can stay healthy, but that has been an issue throughout his career. After an injury-plagued first season in Chicago, Royal should serve as the No. 3 this year. RG Kyle Long (shoulder) and OLB Pernell McPhee (knee) are also sitting out.
Aug 27 - 12:43 PM

Bears TE Zach Miller (concussion) has resumed practicing.

Miller missed the first two weeks of training camp with a concussion. If healthy, Miller could flirt with low-end TE1 value in 2016, although his upside is capped by Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White's returns. Miller will compete with slot man Eddie Royal for complementary targets in Chicago's run-first attack.
Aug 13 - 6:51 PM

Bears TE Zach Miller and WR Eddie Royal are in the concussion protocol.

This is mostly for bookkeeping purposes. Miller was not able to practice Monday, and Royal was quickly taken off the field during warm ups. Both should be considered day to day.
Aug 1 - 12:24 PM

Bears TE Zach Miller said he and Jay Cutler are "on the same page."

That much seemed evident when Miller hauled in 34 catches for 439 yards and five scores last season, but the real question is Miller's durability. 32 in October, Miller did not make an appearance from 2012-14 because of injury problems. Even so, coach John Fox said Miller is ready to be the No. 1 tight end. "He finished as our starter at tight end last year, a guy who made some big plays," Fox said. "A lot was made of his durability, but he's worked very hard and he's having a very good camp." If he can stay on the field, Miller could return back-end TE1 value.

Zach Miller believes he can be a No. 1 tight end.

"If that is wanted of me, I definitely can do it," Miller said. "However it plays out with [Martellus Bennett], I know he is a great player and a great friend. Love being around him, but that is out of my control, out of his control." With Bennett seemingly out the door either via trade or release, Miller should get the chance to prove he is a No. 1. He caught 20 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns in four games without Bennett last season.
Mar 15 - 9:43 AM

Bears re-signed TE Zach Miller to a two-year, $6 million contract.

Another $2 million is available via incentives. Miller went into free agency reportedly looking for $5 million annually. He falls well short of that with his $3 million annual average. The fact is Miller has proven to be extremely injury-prone in his career and turns 32 this season. His re-signing paves the way for the Bears to trade or release Martellus Bennett. The Rams had interest in Miller.
Mar 14 - 6:39 PM

The Rams will host free agent TE Zach Miller on Sunday.

Even while trying to trade away Martellus Bennett, the Bears have slow played trying to re-sign Miller. Miller shredded the Rams in Week 10 last season, dropping a 5-107-2 receiving line on Jeff Fisher's defense. The Rams need an upgrade at pass-catching tight end after severing ties with Jared Cook.
Mar 13 - 10:22 AM

ESPN's Jeff Dickerson reports the Bears have resumed negotiations with free agent TE Zach Miller.

The Bears may view Miller as a cheaper replacement for Martellus Bennett, who is reportedly on the trade block and could conceivably be cut before the new league year begins Wednesday. Miller has proven to be a solid receiving option when on the field, but he has struggled to stay there throughout his career. Miller did not play a snap between the 2011 and 2015 seasons.
Mar 9 - 9:27 AM

The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs has heard the Dolphins could have interest in free agent TE Zach Miller.

The dot connection is obvious after Miller had a career year under ex-Bears OC Adam Gase, who is now the Dolphins' head coach. Miller would presumably play in tandem with Jordan Cameron, whom Gase has sounded committed to bringing back despite his $7.5 million base salary. Miller's negatives include his age -- he turns 32 in October -- and his poor medical history previous to last season.
Feb 29 - 1:57 PM

The Chicago Tribune maintains that the Bears are interested in re-signing free agent TE Zach Miller, but believes they'll let the open market establish his value.

That's probably wise, as Miller is reportedly seeking $5 million per season. It's an absurd sum for a player going on 32 who has been racked by injury. Miller was limited to four total appearances between 2011-14. Miller came up big for the Bears in 2015, but there's no need to rush into an overpay.
Feb 25 - 7:57 PM

ESPN's Jeff Dickerson believes it "would be an upset" if the Bears don't re-sign free agent Zach Miller.

Miller is said to be seeking $5 million annually after his breakout second half of the season. But Miller has never been able to stay healthy, turns 32 next season, and we doubt he'd get that money from any other team. Miller has said multiple times he wants to stay in Chicago where he could potentially replace Martellus Bennett if the Bears decide to release the veteran.
