Eagles RG Andrew Gardner left Sunday's Week 3 game with a foot injury.

He was ruled done for the day at halftime and left the locker room wearing a boot and on crutches. Gardner has been an early-season liability at right guard. His replacement is Matt Tobin.

Eagles signed RG Andrew Gardner to a three-year, $4.7 million extension through 2018.

Gardner was set to play out the final year of his contract at $795,000. He'll now be kicked some up-front guaranteed money after winning the Eagles' starting right guard job following the release of long-time RG Todd Herremans.

The first-team snaps were being evenly rotated between Gardner, Matt Tobin, John Moffitt and Julian Vandervelde. Gardner was the first to get two straight days with the first team and now has spent two more days than the competition with the ones. The starter at right guard the final six games of 2014, Gardner was always the favorite to win the job.

Andrew Gardner has taken the bulk of the first-team reps at right guard in offseason practices.

Gardner started the final six games of last season at right guard and is expected to get the first crack at the starting job with Allen Barbre moving to left guard to replace Evan Mathis. Also in the mix at right guard are Matt Tobin, Dennis Kelly, and second-year UDFA Kevin Graf. Gardner received positive marks from Pro Football Focus for his run blocking last season. Tobin has the most upside.

Tobin's struggles have gotten him benched, leading to a chance for journeyman veteran Gardner. As for the Eagles' inactives, there are no surprises: QB Nick Foles, CB Roc Carmichael, DB Jaylen Watkins, OL Julian Vandervelde, OL Dennis Kelly, WR Jeff Maehl and DE Taylor Hart.

Scout.com reports the deal includes a $109,000 signing bonus. Gardner, a two-time All-ACC selection, missed the final four games of his college career after surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He's working as the backup left tackle in minicamp.
