Date:

The Bengals are expected to re-sign RB Cedric Peerman later Thursday.

Peerman recently visited the Eagles, apparently sparking the Bengals to come up with an offer. He has just 64 carries across five seasons in Cincy, but carries value as a core special teamer.
Apr 9 - 10:24 AM

Free agent RB Cedric Peerman visited the Eagles on Tuesday.

Peerman, 28, isn't an offensive asset, but does earn his keep on special teams. He led the league with 16 solo tackles while covering kicks last season.
Apr 8 - 8:41 AM

Cedric Peerman rushed twice for 21 yards in Cincinnati's Week 11 win over the Saints.

Peerman got out-touched 28-2 by Jeremy Hill. With Giovani Bernard (hip) looking likely to return for Week 12, Peerman is about to return to (distant) No. 3 duties.

Cedric Peerman (knee) is probable for Week 11.

Peerman was limited Wednesday and Thursday, but returned to a full practice Friday. He'll back up Jeremy Hill this week.

Bengals RB Cedric Peerman was limited with a knee issue on Wednesday and Thursday.

It's only notable because it appears Gio Bernard is going to miss another game with his hip injury, leaving Peerman as Jeremy Hill's backup. Peerman should be ready to go against the Saints, but won't be on the daily-league radar.

Cedric Peerman finished with -2 yards on two carries in Cincinnati's Week 10 loss to the Browns.

Peerman was invisible as Jeremy Hill's backup. Regardless of whether Giovani Bernard (hip) is ready to return for Week 11, Peerman will remain well off the fantasy radar, even in daily-league tournaments.

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Bengals are "getting [Cedric] Peerman ready as a complimentary back to Jeremy Hill."

Gio Bernard (hip) is in doubt for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. He couldn't finish last week's game and did not practice on Wednesday. The change-of-pace type Peerman has been on the fringe of Cincy's roster for the last five seasons, rushing just 54 times. The real winner if Gio sits, of course, would be rookie power back Jeremy Hill. He'd take on feature duties and would be a candidate for 20 touches.

Bengals RB Cedric Peerman (foot) is expected to miss 1-2 weeks.

Peerman had a rough offseason. Per Bengals.com, he first hurt his foot chasing down a man "who swiped his fiancee's cell phone off the table they were sitting at outside a New Orleans restaurant." Later, he got his foot caught awkwardly in a wave at Virginia Beach and hurt his ankle. Peerman is on the NFI list.

Bengals re-signed RB Cedric Peerman to a two-year contract.

Peerman, 26, added juice to Cincy's 2012 backfield with 258 yards and a score on 36 carries (7.2 YPC). He deserved more work considering BenJarvus Green-Ellis' utter lack of big-play ability. Peerman has burst and some versatility, but the Bengals don't seem to value him as more than a third-stringer and special teamer. They're expected to draft a change-of-pace back upgrade in April.

Cedric Peerman did not touch the ball in the Bengals' Wild Card Round loss to the Texans.

We don't know why Peerman wasn't involved; he averaged over seven yards a carry in the regular season and provided an explosive change-of-pace complement to BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Peerman can also hold his own in the passing game. We are mildly intrigued to see where he lands in 2013 free agency.

Cedric Peerman (ankle) is questionable for Week 16 after getting in a week of limited practices.

Peerman should be ready to return from his two-game absence, but with BenJarvus Green-Ellis playing the finest football of his career, he's doubtful to receive more than 4-5 touches.

Cedric Peerman (ankle) returned to Bengals practice Wednesday, getting in a limited session.

It's a sign Peerman should be good to go against the Steelers after missing the Bengals' past two games. However, with BenJarvus Green-Ellis continuing to run unexpectedly well, Peerman won't be in for more than a handful of touches.

Bengals declared RB Cedric Peerman, K Mike Nugent, CB Dre Kirkpatrick, S George Iloka, DTs Devon Still and Brandon Thompson, and TE Richard Quinn inactive for Thursday night's game versus the Eagles.

Peerman has an ankle injury, so BenJarvus Green-Ellis will carry a full load in the backfield with Brian Leonard mixing in on third downs. Nugent is out with a calf injury to his kicking leg, and Josh Brown will kick for the second straight week. As reported earlier, RE Michael Johnson (toe) is active.

Cedric Peerman (ankle) is officially listed as doubtful for Thursday's game against the Eagles.

Peerman will miss his second straight game. Brian Leonard filled the change-of-pace role last week, rushing six times for 20 yards.
