Former Seahawks and Chargers S Kevin Ellison was arrested on suspicion of arson Friday after allegedly lighting his apartment on fire.
Ellison originally told police the fire was accidental, then later admitted he set his apartment ablaze "because God told him to do so," using a marijuana cigar. Ellison, 25, spent last season with the Spokane Shock of the arena league. Ellison was also arrested in May of 2010 for possession of 100 Vicodin pills. Fri, Jun 15, 2012 04:54:00 PM

Felony drug possession charges against former Seahawks S Kevin Ellison have been dropped.

Ellison was arrested last May for possession of 100 Vicodin pills. The Chargers' 2009 sixth-round pick fell out of the league after being cut by Seattle coming out of preseason action. He should get a look-see from another team this summer.

Seahawks waived S Kevin Ellison, C/G Steve Vallos, and G/T Mansfield Wrotto.

Seattle has been the NFC's most active team on post-cuts day (Miami takes the cake in the AFC). Ellison was waived in favor of Nate Ness. Wrotto, though, is the biggest surprise after starting the final two preseason games at left tackle for Russell Okung. Okung is not expected back for Week 1, so the Seahawks will roll the dice with Eagles free agent bust Stacy Andrews.

Seahawks SS Kevin Ellison has ran consistently with the third team this preseason while Jamar Adams has been with the second unit.

Ellison is a longshot to make the team while Adams has a chance for a backup role along with Kam Chancellor. The Seahawks' safety corps should be improved with rookie Earl Thomas in the fold to pair with strong safeties Lawyer Milloy and Jordan Babineaux.

Seahawks S Kevin Ellison pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of felony drug possession.

Ellison was arrested in late May for possession of 100 Vicodin pills. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 5.

Seahawks re-signed SS Kevin Ellison to an undisclosed contract.

Last week's report that Ellison was waived due to a failed physical appears to be inaccurate. Instead, he was released two days after he was acquired "in order to adjust contractual issues." He'll add depth at strong safety behind Jordan Babineaux.

The Seahawks have reportedly waived SS Kevin Ellison due to a failed physical.

We're not aware of any offseason surgeries for Ellison, and he was running with the Chargers first-team defense before his late May arrest for possession of Vicodin pills. His agent did say the pills were needed to deal with a knee injury, which may be at the heart of the failed physical.

Seahawks claimed SS Kevin Ellison off waivers from the Chargers.

Ellison's old college coach wasn't scared off by his May arrest for possession of 100 Vicodin pills. Ellison had been running with the Chargers' first-team defense before the arrest, so he has a good shot to stick in Seattle. The Seahawks are shallow at strong safety behind Jordan Babineaux.

Chargers waived SS Kevin Ellison.

Ellison, a promising run-stopping strong safety, gets the Terrence Kiel treatment after his recent arrest for possession of 100 Vicodin pills. It will be interesting to see if Ellison gets claimed off waivers. The former USC Trojan's lack of ideal range and poor off-field image will be working against him.

Kevin Ellison worked as the Chargers' starting strong safety in Tuesday's workout.

That was quick. Ellison was told to stay away from the team for a couple of days after being busted with 100 Vicodin pills, but immediately got back with the first-team defense ahead of rookie Darrell Stuckey. Beat writer Kevin Acee says Ellison's status with the team is still up in the air.

Chargers SS Kevin Ellison has been invited back to the team's practice facility.

He's expected to participate in June OTAs. Ellison was told to stay away from workouts after his late-May arrest for Vicodin possession, but the team apparently believes he's suffered enough. He'll battle Darrell Stuckey to start.

Chargers SS Kevin Ellison's roster spot is in jeopardy following his arrest Monday, according to beat writer Kevin Acee.

Ellison was found with 100 pills of Vicodin. As a 2009 sixth-round pick that lacks speed, Ellison wasn't a lock to make the team before this incident. The Chargers drafted safety Darrell Stuckey in the fourth round and also have Steve Gregory. Acee says Ellison may not even make it to training camp now.

Chargers SS Kevin Ellison was arrested Monday on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

Pulled over for speeding, Ellison was found to have 100 pills of Vicodin. He was released on $10,000 bond. Ellison didn't have a prescription, so he's probably lucky to not have been charged with attempting to distribute. A sixth-round pick in 2009, Ellison finished his rookie year with 48 tackles and nine starts. He's expected to battle rookie Darrell Stuckey in training camp.

Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera confirmed that he will rotate Kevin Ellison, Steve Gregory, and Paul Oliver at strong safety after the team released Clinton Hart.

Ellison is expected to play in the base defense, but his lack of speed will make him a liability in the passing game. His IDP upside will be limited by Gregory and Oliver subbing in during nickel and dime situations.

Chargers declared SS Kevin Ellison, FS C.J. Spillman, C Nick Hardwick, G Tyronne Green, WR Buster Davis, OLB Antwan Applewhite, third QB Charlie Whitehurst, and DL Travis Johnson inactive for Week 4.

The Chargers are in fine shape health-wise heading into their matchup with the Steelers on NBC's Sunday Night Football.
