Raiders signed CB Coye Francies and LS Nick Guess off the team's practice squad.

The moves were made after the Raiders placed WR Jacoby Ford (foot) and CB Ronald Bartell (shoulder) on injured reserve on Saturday. Francies was claimed off waivers from the Seahawks in late August and was then signed to the practice squad last week. Guess gets the call after long snapper Jon Condo suffered a concussion in Week 1.

Francies was just claimed off waivers a week ago, but has been cut loose to clear room for Derek Hagan. Francies has appeared in just eight career games, zero of which came in 2011.

A sixth-round pick by the Browns in 2009, Francies saw action in eight games over two seasons before falling out of the league last year.

Francies never had a fair shot to make the team out of training camp after dealing with a groin injury. Now healthy, he'll concentrate on special teams.

It may be too late for Francies. The 2009 sixth-rounder has less than two weeks to prove he deserves a roster spot.

Browns signed sixth-round CB Coye Francies to a four-year contract.

Francies was bookended by Chris Owens, Atlanta's third-round pick, at San Jose State, where they both played behind Bears third-round DT Jarron Gilbert. Francies was arguably the team's top cover corner, but fell in the draft due to a 2007 gun arrest. He does have the talent to stick at this level.
