Panthers waived QB Keith Null.
The Panthers tendered Null as an exclusive rights free agent before the lockout, but they're cutting ties now. Null just doesn't have any upside, and Carolina is still interested in signing a veteran to help with Cam Newton's development. The Panthers' QB depth chart now reads: Newton, Jimmy Clausen, Tony Pike. Fri, Jul 29, 2011 04:51:00 PM

Panthers extended exclusive rights free agent tenders to QB Keith Null, WR Charly Martin, DT Nick Hayden, G C.J. Davis, and LB Nic Harris.

Null will battle Tony Pike for a roster spot in training camp, and the former is likely to be the underdog. Hayden saw far too many snaps last season, starting ten games. The Panthers need lots of help across the defensive line. Harris is a special teams type. Martin was a favorite of the old regime.

Panthers promoted QB Keith Null from their practice squad.

Null, 25, will replace rookie Tony Pike as Carolina's third quarterback behind Jimmy Clausen and Brian St. Pierre. Pike is going on injured reserve. A sixth-round pick out of West Texas A&M last year, Null lacks ideal physical skills and projects as no more than a weak long-term No. 2 quarterback.

The Panthers will work out free agent QB Keith Null Tuesday.

The Panthers need some depth with Matt Moore done for the season. Null has spent time on the Jaguars practice squad this season after failing to win the Rams' No. 3 quarterback job over Thaddeus Lewis in training camp.

Jaguars signed QB Keith Null to their practice squad.

Null, who was released by the Rams after failing to win the No. 3 quarterback job in training camp, has more upside than Todd Bouman, but he's not a threat to take David Garrard's job anytime soon.

The Jaguars are flying in former Rams QB Keith Null today and plan to sign him, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Cross Trent Edwards off the Jaguars' list. Null was terrible for the Rams in his brief action last year and lost out on the No. 3 quarterback job to undrafted rookie Thaddeus Lewis. He has a strong arm, but accuracy is a big issue. Null will presumably take veteran Todd Bouman's spot as David Garrard's backup, or they could go with three QBs. He's no immediate threat to unseat Garrard.

The Patriots reportedly worked out free agent QB Keith Null this week.

In addition to the former Rams quarterback, the Pats also kicked the tires on receivers Lance Long, Paul Williams, and Kenny Moore. The team is just getting its call list together early in the season.

Rams waived QB Keith Null.

Null started four games down the stretch last season, but threw three TDs and nine picks during that span while the Rams went 0-4. Undrafted rookie Thaddeus Lewis turned enough heads in camp to beat out Null for the No. 3 job.

Keith Null was taken out of Sunday's season finale early due to concussion-like symptoms.

The rookie didn't feel right after getting slammed to the turf in the third quarter, so he sat out the rest of the game. Null hopes to get a chance to compete for the starting job next season, but he's a third-string caliber QB. The Rams' quarterback situation is completely up in the air for 2010.

Keith Null completed 7-of-17 passes for 57 yards in Week 17.

Null left in the second half and Kyle Boller stepped in for the struggling rookie. The first-year player out of West Texas A&M started four games, throwing for 566 yards, three touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He completed just over 61% of his passes and should have a chance to be the Rams' No. 2 QB in 2010.

Keith Null left Sunday's game against the 49ers with an apparent injury, and Kyle Boller has come in to replace him.

Null is being examined by the doctors on the sidelines while Boller is in overthrowing his targets. Boller should come in and help out the Rams' case for the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Null was 7-of-17 for 57 yards before leaving.

Keith Null took the majority of the first-team reps in Thursday's practice, as expected.

Null is almost certain to start Sunday, which is good news for the 49ers' defense/special teams. Though he's completed 64.4 percent of his passes in three games, Null has also thrown nine interceptions.

Keith Null and Kyle Boller are splitting reps at practice again this week.

This is the same routine the Rams went through last week. It's hard to picture them turning back to Kyle Boller after three straight games with Null.

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo remained noncommittal on a starting quarterback for Week 17 at his Monday press conference.

Keith Null has ten turnovers in his three starts, but wasn't pulled in favor of Kyle Boller in Week 16 and figures to get the nod once again. It says a lot that Boller hasn't proven to be a better option than a sixth-round rookie from Division II. Boller could easily fall out of the league this offseason.

Keith Null completed 20-of-31 passes for 171 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions in the Rams' Week 16 loss to the Cardinals.

Null made some very poor decisions on Sunday afternoon, throwing all three picks right to Arizona defenders. His first one came when he threw off of his back foot and just tossing it up for grabs, and Null's final one came in the fourth quarter when S Adrian Wilson jumped a route over the middle. Null will likely start the team's final game against the 49ers at home.
