New Giants TE Brandon Myers revealed that he played the entire 2012 season with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder.
The bum shoulder is partly to blame for Myers' poor blocking, but he and Giants TEs coach Mike Pope have "talked a lot about" improving it this spring and summer. "It’s never fun to go out there and try to block a 300-pound guy with basically one arm," Myers said. "Obviously, my blocking wasn’t up to par. That’s not an excuse by any means." Myers says he'll be back to full strength by OTAs. Mar 23 - 1:19 PM

Giants signed TE Brandon Myers, formerly of the Raiders, to a one-year contract.

After losing Martellus Bennett to the Bears, Myers will likely open 2013 as the Giants' new starter, ahead of raw 2012 fourth-rounder Adrien Robinson. It's a solid, low-risk signing by the G-Men. Myers broke out last season as an efficient underneath option for Carson Palmer, securing career bests in catches (79), yards (806), and touchdowns (4). His 78-percent catch rate led the NFL among tight ends with at least 50 targets. Myers is a poor blocker, but he could push for 6-8 TD catches as a reliable red-zone presence for Eli Manning.

Free agent TE Brandon Myers is visiting the Giants on Saturday.

Myers and Fred Davis are the two best free-agent tight ends left, and Myers doesn't have any question marks regarding his health. This will be his first visit, despite Myers' 2012 breakout season. After losing Martellus Bennett, the Giants aren't ready to hand the reins to second-year TE Adrien Robinson.

CSN Washington specifically mentions free agent Brandon Myers as an option for the Redskins.

That's only if Fred Davis isn't re-signed, but recent word is that Washington plans to ink him to a new deal. Myers would be a nice fit, though, if it doesn't work out. He played and excelled in a similar passing offense with Oakland last year. Myers should have plenty of options, even if Oakland isn't one of them.

Free agent Brandon Myers says it's his understanding that the Raiders will let him test the open market.

"I’m optimistic that they might give me an offer, but I guess they had a conversation at the Combine and it didn’t sound like they were ready to do that," Myers said. "We’ll just see where it takes us." Myers, who turns 28 before the season, is coming off career highs in catches (79), yards (806), and touchdowns (4).

Scouts Inc.'s Matt Williamson says free agent TE Brandon Myers is a fit for new OC Greg Olson's scheme.

Myers busted out with 79 catches for 806 yards in Greg Knapp's West Coast scheme last season. Although much of that production game in garbage-time comebacks led by Carson Palmer, the numbers will open some doors for Myers once free agency opens on March 12. The Raiders are expected to let Myers test the market before trying to re-sign him. "Oakland's receivers have a lot of talent, but are just so erratic and inconsistent with their routes and responsibilities ... which makes Myers alluring for this passing game," Williamson says. "Oakland should bring him back if possible."

Free agent TE Brandon Myers and DL Desmond Bryant are expected to be welcomed back to the Raiders "at the right price."

Myers may want to test the market after a breakout season that saw him finish fourth among tight ends in receptions and sixth in yards. NFL teams realize a good portion of that production came in garbage time, however, and Myers offers little playmaking ability after the catch. He won't break the bank on the open market.
Jan 4 - 12:18 PM

Brandon Myers caught four passes for 53 yards in the Raiders' Week 17 loss to the Chargers.

Even with Terrelle Pryor under center, Myers managed to be effective. It caps a surprising breakout campaign from the 2009 sixth-round pick as he finishes with 79 catches for 806 yards and four touchdowns. His previous career-highs were 16 catches and 151 yards. Myers' lack of athleticism is concerning for his long-term appeal, but he's shown excellent rapport with Carson Palmer and feel for Gregg Knapp's scheme. Bringing him back figures to be a priority for the Raiders in free agency.

Brandon Myers was held to 15 yards on two receptions versus the Chiefs in Week 15.

His 14-yard grab on the last offensive play of the first half set up a 57-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski. Without benefit of garbage time, Myers was held out of the boxscore in the second half. Held under 20 yards in back-to-back games, Myers is no longer a must-start TE1 option heading into Week 16 at Carolina.

Brandon Myers ran just 21 routes Thursday night versus the Broncos compared to 49 in Week 13.

Myers was asked to stay in and block 12 times Thursday compared to just five plays the previous week. In other words, his role in the passing game was scaled back against a defense that has struggled to defend tight ends all season. The Raiders got Rod Streater and Juron Criner more involved at Myers' expense.

Brandon Myers answered his monster Week 13 with one catch for seven yards in Thursday night's Week 14 loss to the Broncos.

Myers saw just two targets in the loss, and the pass that wasn't reeled in was a poor red zone throw from Carson Palmer that was picked off by Champ Bailey. Denver has been shredded by opposing tight ends this season, and after posting a 14/130/1 line last week, Myers was a top-five tight end play for Week 14. It didn't amount to anything. Next up are the division rival Chiefs, who Myers caught three passes for 49 yards against in Week 8.

Brandon Myers (shoulder) was upgraded to "full" in Wednesday's practice, and is officially probable for Thursday night's game against the Broncos.

Coming off his 14-catch, 130-yard laser show against the Browns, Myers will be good to go versus Denver. Although Myers has proven adept at sponging up targets, he hadn't topped 60 yards in a game since Week 6 before Sunday. He'll be a low-end TE1 for the fantasy playoffs.

Brandon Myers was limited in Tuesday's practice with a sore shoulder.

Myers' shoulder has been sore for nearly a month now, but it hasn't affected his performance on game days. He's tied with Jimmy Graham for the most fantasy points over the past five weeks.

Brandon Myers caught 14 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's Week 13, 20-17 loss to the Browns.

Myers caught 14 of his 15 targets and has shown that he possesses ultimately reliable hands. His score was of the true garbage time variety, but the Raiders are one of the biggest beneficiaries of other teams playing prevent defense late in games this year. After today, Myers is on pace to catch 92 passes for 961 yards and five touchdowns this season. He's a PPR machine and is a regular low-end TE1. We'll see the Raiders host the Broncos on Thursday night.
Sun, Dec 2, 2012 07:28:00 PM

Brandon Myers caught five balls for 37 yards in the Raiders' Week 12 loss to Cincinnati.

He was targeted six times. Myers continues to be an efficient member of Oakland's passing game, but his lack of playmaking ability has been evident and puts a cap on his fantasy ceiling, even if he'd found pay dirt three times in the Raiders' previous three games entering this one. Myers will be a low-end TE1 when the Raiders square off with the Browns in Week 13.
