Chris Ogbonnaya caught one pass for nine yards in Cleveland's Week 17 loss to the Browns.
It was the running back's lone touch of the game. Ogbonnaya showed some prowess as a pass catcher out of the Browns' committee backfield this season, but was limited to 49 carries. He caught 47 passes for 334 yards and two scores. Signed through next season, Ogbonnaya should receive the benefit of the doubt when it comes to earning a roster spot, but won't compete for the Browns' starting job. Sun, Dec 29, 2013 05:23:00 PM

Chris Ogbonnaya rushed for eight yards on one carry in Week 16 against the Jets.

Ogbonnaya added one catch for four yards as the clear-cut No. 2 back behind Edwin Baker. Baker received 19 touches. Willis McGahee and Fozzy Whittaker didn't handle the ball. Ogbonnaya has zero fantasy value.

Chris Ogbonnaya rushed five times for seven yards and caught five passes for 39 yards in Sunday's Week 15 loss to the Bears.

Although Willis McGahee (concussion) was inactive, Ogbonnaya's role did not change. Instead, the Browns turned to newly signed Edwin Baker as their feature back and kept Ogbonnaya as a pass-catching fullback. The coaching staff clearly doesn't view him as any kind of serious ball-carrier. Outside of desperation PPR spots, Ogbonnaya can be dropped across the board.

Chris Ogbonnaya will start Sunday's Week 15 game against the Bears with Willis McGahee (concussion) inactive.

It's a monster opportunity for Ogbonnaya as he gets to face the Bears' league-worst and historically bad run defense at home. The concern is that he's not a true feature back so he might give up a few base carries to Fozzy Whittaker and Edwin Baker, but that should be mitigated by his proficiency as a receiver (41 catches on the season). Ogbonnaya is a realistic candidate for 12-16 touches and RB2 consideration, especially in leagues that award any points for receptions. The rest of the Browns inactives: G John Greco, TE Andre Smith, QB Alex Tanney, OL Martin Wallace, OL Reid Fragel and TE Keavon Milton.

According to ESPN, Willis McGahee (concussion) seems "very doubtful" for Sunday's game against the Bears.

McGahee's likely absence leaves Chris Ogbonnaya as a potential starter against a Bears defense that has surrendered 100-yard rushing days to six consecutive opponents (Eddie Lacy, Reggie Bush, Ray Rice, Benny Cunningham, Adrian Peterson and DeMarco Murray). Ogbonnaya isn't the runner that those guys are, but he's averaging 5.33 YPC on 42 carries this season and is a big part of the passing game (41 catches on the season). He'll get the Bears on a short week and at home. Owners in search of plug-n-play RB2 candidates could do much worse than gambling on Ogbonnaya.

Chris Ogbonnaya rushed for eight yards on four carries and caught three passes for 25 yards in Week 14 at New England.

Ogbonnaya has seen his role scaled back to just passing-down work a couple weeks after mixing in on early downs. He and Fozzy Whittaker are also splitting snaps a bit, leaving neither as a real fantasy option.

Chris Ogbonnaya rushed for 20 yards on seven carries in Week 13 against the Jaguars.

Ogbonnaya caught two of his five targets for 14 yards. After acting as the lead back the previous two weeks, Ogbonnaya gave way to Willis McGahee on Sunday. Ogbonnaya had one opportunity to score; he got a carry from the five-yard line but made it to the one before McGahee pounded it in on the next play. Ogbonnaya is barely on the flex radar across all fantasy leagues.

Chris Ogbonnaya had just four carries for 26 yards in Sunday's Week 12 loss to the Steelers.

He added two catches for 15 yards. Ogbonnaya started and got the majority of early-down work over Willis McGahee, but saw limited snaps after he fumbled late in the second quarter. He wasn't a factor in the passing game and finished with just five targets. Ogbonnaya could lose playing time to Fozzy Whittaker going forward. He won't be more than a low-end RB4/FLEX option in Week 12 against the Jaguars.

Chris Ogbonnaya led the Browns backfield with 48 snaps in Sunday's loss at Cincy.

Willis McGahee (eight touches) played just 13 snaps and Fozzy Whittaker (nine touches) got 23. Ogbonnaya racked up 99 yards on his 14 touches as the Browns fulfilled their promise to get him more early-down work. He's also averaging 3.8 catches per day over the last eight games, giving the fullback type some desperation PPR appeal. The Browns have plus matchups against the Steelers and Jags on deck.

Chris Ogbonnaya had eight carries for 69 yards in Sunday's Week 11 loss to the Bengals.

He added six catches for 30 yards. Ogbonnaya saw more carries than Willis McGahee, who was relegated to short-yardage and red-zone work. He made a back-side cut for an impressive 43-yard run in the first quarter, but also had a costly fumble on a screen pass that was returned for a touchdown. Ogbonnaya should continue to lead the backfield in touches going forward, but has limited upside in Cleveland's pass heavy offense.

Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs) is practicing in full this week.

Ogbonnaya has been battling bruised ribs for a couple weeks now but isn't in any danger of missing Sunday's tilt with the Bengals. The Browns have said they want to get Ogbonnaya more touches in early-down situations.
Wed, Nov 13, 2013 05:48:00 PM

Browns OC Norv Turner confirmed FB/RB Chris Ogbonnaya will see more carries as long as he's healthy.

Ogbonnaya has been battling a rib injury in recent weeks. "If he’s healthy and recovered from where he’s beat up a little bit, then he’ll get more carries," Turner said. Ogbonnaya and Willis McGahee, who is averaging 2.6 YPC on 100 carries, are expected to split the load more evenly down the stretch. Ogbonnaya is already the preferred passing-down back and is on the PPR map.

Coach Rob Chudzinski said he wants FB/RB Chris Ogbonnaya to get more carries going forward.

The Browns' running game is predictably stuck in the mud as Willis McGahee has rushed 100 times for 262 yards (2.62 YPC) with one touchdown over the last seven games. They're desperate for a spark and have nowhere else to turn but to their lead-blocker. Ogbonnaya is averaging 5.31 YPC on the season and has also been a contributor in the pass game, hauling in 3.5 catches a day over the last seven games. Now a candidate for 6-9 carries as well, Ogbonnaya is on the PPR radar for desperate deep leaguers.

Chris Ogbonnaya caught five passes for 39 yards in Week 9 against the Ravens.

Ogbonnaya didn't receive a single carry, instead filling the passing-down back role he's been filling for weeks. He's not worthy of a roster spot outside of the deepest of deep PPR leagues.
Sun, Nov 3, 2013 08:55:00 PM

Chris Ogbonnaya had three carries for 12 yards in Sunday's Week 8 loss to Kansas City.

Ogbonnaya added just three catches for 12 yards on four targets and continues to lose passing down work to Fozzy Whittaker. He's being used strictly as a third-down back and is barely worth rostering in re-draft leagues.
