Redskins re-signed DB E.J. Biggers to a one-year, $730,000 contract.
After whiffing on just about every one of their secondary targets in free agency, the Redskins need to add bodies. Biggers appeared in all 16 games for Washington last season, mostly as a sub-package coverage safety and fourth corner. And like the rest of his teammates, he struggled badly as the secondary ranked 20th in the league while giving up the 21st-most passing touchdowns. The Redskins must get secondary help in May's draft. Mar 27 - 11:12 AM

ESPN.com's John Keim reports the Redskins remain interested in re-signing free agent CB E.J. Biggers.

The Redskins are looking to add cornerback depth and will likely bring back Biggers on a one-year deal. Biggers, 26, appeared in all 16 games (five starts) last season and is also capable of filling in at safety.

Redskins signed CB E.J. Biggers.

It's an underrated get for the cap-strapped Redskins. The 6'0/185 Biggers was the lone bright spot in Tampa's rancid secondary last season, grading out as a top-20 coverage corner according to ProFootballFocus. There's also a familiarity in the scheme as former Bucs head coach and current Redskins secondary coach Raheem Morris was with Biggers for his first two NFL seasons. Still just 25 years old, the 2009 seventh-round pick has 24 career starts under his belt. If the Redskins don't bring back free agent DeAngelo Hall, Biggers could be penciled in at left corner.

The Bucs are reportedly interested in re-signing free agent CB E.J. Biggers.

We haven't heard a peep on Biggers since the season ended. A lanky corner at 6-foot and 185 pounds, Biggers was probably the Bucs' best corner in what was a terrible group last season. He could likely be had on a one-year deal, and he may be an option for the Redskins with former coach Raheem Morris.

E.J. Biggers is starting at cornerback in place of Aqib Talib (suspension) versus the Chiefs in Week 6.

Outside of an embarrassing performance against Hakeem Nicks in Week 2, Talib has played well this season. It's an upgrade for Dwayne Bowe if Brady Quinn can get him the ball. Bucs inactives: OG Cody Wallace, TE Danny Noble, CB Anthony Gaitor, WR Chris Owusu, RB Michael Smith, S Keith Tandy and DE Markus White.

Bucs CB E.J. Biggers broke a bone in his foot during Friday's training camp practice.

The Bucs had some bad luck on Friday, as Arrelious Benn also went down with a sprained MCL. Biggers was in line to open the year as the Bucs' third corner, but he may now miss a few early regular season games. Myron Lewis, Anthony Gaitor, and rookie Keith Tandy will pick up additional reps in the meantime.

E.J. Biggers will be the Bucs' starting left cornerback if Aqib Talib is suspended.

Biggers, a 2009 seventh-round pick, will be the No. 3 corner when Talib is active. He's an underrated player, but Calvin Johnson figures to feast on this secondary in Week 1 if Talib is out. In Week 15 last season, Megatron dropped 10 catches and 152 yards on Tampa while Talib watched with a bum hip.

Bucs CB E.J. Biggers is the favorite to replace Aqib Talib in the starting lineup if Talib misses time in 2011 due to suspension.

And the chances of Talib getting suspended are very strong. Biggers flew under the radar last year, ranking in the top ten of all NFL corners in Football Outsiders' Success Rate. A former seventh-round pick out of Western Michigan, Biggers also had 56 tackles and an interception in 16 games (six starts).

E.J. Biggers of the Bucs ranked in the top-10 of all cornerbacks in Football Outsiders' Success Rate last season.

Success Rate is defined as the percentage of passes that don't manage to get at least 45 percent of needed yards on first down, 60 percent on second down, or 100 percent on third down. Biggers, a 2009 seventh-rounder, fared well as a fill-in for Aqib Talib. He'll handle nickel duties this year and eventually succeed Ronde Barber as the starter opposite Talib.

E.J. Biggers will move into the Bucs' starting lineup at left corner with Aqib Talib out for the season.

The 2009 seventh-rounder has taken his lumps as a nickel back this year. The Bucs have a four-game window to see if he has the potential to take over when Ronde Barber retires. For now, he represents an upgrade for opposing fantasy receivers, starting with Santana Moss and Anthony Armstrong.

E.J. Biggers will start at left corner Sunday while Aqib Talib serves his one-game suspension.

Talib is one of the more underrated corners around while Biggers is a 2009 seventh-round pick. Mohamed Massaquoi gets a decent upgrade, but we still wouldn't want to use him as anything more than a WR4.

Second year CB E.J Biggers has taken the lead in the Buccaneers' competition for the starting nickel cornerback job.

Biggers was impressive in Saturday night's preseason opener against the Dolphins, racking up 4 tackles, a TFL, and a fumble recovery. He has the inside track over Elbert Mack and Myron Lewis.

Bucs placed CB E.J. Biggers (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

He was the team's seventh-round pick this season out of Western Michigan. Safety/special teamer Steve Cargile was signed to take Biggers' place.

Bucs signed seventh-round CB E.J. Biggers, a Western Michigan product, to a four-year contract.

Late-round, small-school DBs are rarely good bets, but Bucs coach Raheem Morris coached Biggers in college and Tampa is thin behind Aqib Talib and Ronde Barber. Biggers has a good shot to make it as a fourth or fifth corner.
