Jones was one of the better linebackers left on the market. A 12-game starter last season, including the playoffs, Jones recorded 92 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. Pro Football Focus graded the soon-to-be 27-year-old as a top-ten inside linebacker. Jones and D.J. Smith figure to push A.J. Hawk for the starting spot next to Desmond Bishop this summer. Free agent LB Brad Jones met with Packers officials for roughly an hour on Wednesday.

It's the first time the sides are known to have met since the start of free agency. Jones proved invaluable down the stretch last season, starting Green Bay's final 12 games. Per the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, he played all but seven defensive snaps after joining the starting lineup. Jones visited the Titans last week.

Free agent LB Brad Jones is visiting the Titans.

Per the Nashville Tennessean, "several" teams are interested in the four-year veteran. Jones' agent claimed Monday as many as eight teams had inquired. Jones had a strong finish to 2012, but failed to lock down a starting job in Green Bay despite multiple opportunities. Jones could still end up back with the Pack.

The player rep for free agent LB Brad Jones claims eight teams are showing interest in his client.

They could be just due-diligence calls, too. Jones did flash big-time promise in the second half of 2012, outplaying A.J. Hawk at inside linebacker in Green Bay. He was drafted by Chiefs GM John Dorsey and would be a fit in Kansas City.

The Packers would like to re-sign impending free agent ILB Brad Jones.

Jones started 12 games, including the playoffs, and graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 10 inside linebacker during the regular season. While Jones was exposed in the playoff loss to the 49ers, so was the rest of the Packers' defense. In an ideal world, the Packers would cut A.J. Hawk, and Jones would compete with D.J. Smith to start next to Desmond Bishop.

Packers ILB Brad Jones has played 137-of-137 defensive snaps over Green Bay's last two games.

The Packers resisted the temptation to use A.J. Hawk as their dime linebacker after D.J. Smith's ACL tear, and have kept Hawk in a roughly 66-percent role. Jones, the 100-percent inside 'backer and new defensive playcaller, responded in Week 8 with a team-high ten tackles (seven solo), a sack, and a forced fumble. Brad Jones played every snap at inside linebacker in the Packers' Week 7 win over the Rams.

D.J. Smith (ACL) and Desmond Bishop (hamstring) are both out for the season, leaving Jones to call the defensive signals. But despite the every-down role, Jones somehow managed just two tackles and one quarterback hit. A.J. Hawk had five tackles despite coming off the field in dime sets.

Brad Jones is expected to start in place of the injured D.J. Smith at ILB for the Packers.

Jones is trying to convert from an outside linebacker to an inside. "We just felt backing him up off the ball and letting him play the inside linebacker position was more suited to him," defensive coordinator Dom Capers said of Jones. "I think it's been a good move. I think it's the right place for him." While Smith was the Packers' every-down linebacker, it's expected that A.J. Hawk and not Jones assumes those duties moving forward.

The Packers are holding a three-way competition at right outside linebacker between Brad Jones, Frank Zombo, and Erik Walden.

Walden opened camp with the ones, but Zombo ran with the first team the next day and Jones was the starter in Monday's practice. The Packers may end up using a rotation during the season. The right outside 'backer position in Green Bay sees consistent single blocks because Clay Matthews plays on the left.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette considers outside linebacker to be the Packers' biggest need area entering the offseason.

Projected starter Brad Jones lost his job to Frank Zombo early in the year, and the Packers mixed and matched opposite Clay Matthews the rest of the way. The Press-Gazette considers it "all but a given" that they'll draft a new potential starter. With the 32nd pick, possibilities include Justin Houston (Georgia), Ryan Kerrigan (Purdue), and Jabaal Sheard (Pitt).

Packers placed OLB Brad Jones on injured reserve with a right shoulder injury, ending his season.

Productive down the stretch of last season, Jones lost his starting job early this year to undrafted rookie Frank Zombo. He finishes with 27 tackles, but no sacks in six games. Jones' shoulder injury will require surgery.

Packers OLB Brad Jones hasn't participated in any contact since injuring his shoulder on August 19.

Jones is wearing a shoulder harness but insists the injury isn't a big deal, saying, "The shoulder feels great." Still, he's missed the last two preseason games and likely won't play Thursday. We expect Jones to be good to go for Week 1, but check back for updates.

Packers OLB Brad Jones has been confirmed as the "heir apparent" to Aaron Kampman.

The Packers did nothing to address the outside linebacker spot in the offseason, instead putting all their eggs in Jones' basket. He'll start opposite Clay Matthews and will be flying under the radar. The 2009 seventh-round pick had four sacks in his final three games last season.

Brad Jones emerged from draft weekend as the heavy favorite to start at outside linebacker opposite Clay Matthews.

"Brad did pretty good during the limited time that he played there last year, and we're going to work at it," G.M. Ted Thompson said. Brady Poppinga will also be on the outside, but we don't think the Packers saw OLB as a massive need. Jones was a solid rookie, and should improve.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel expects Brad Jones to be given "every chance" to win the starting outside linebacker job opposite Clay Matthews.

One beat reporter suggested earlier in the offseason that Jones wouldn't start, but the Packers have done nothing to upgrade the position in free agency. With the team's needs at cornerback and offensive line, Jones could be safe from serious rookie competition.
