Cardinals OLB Chike Okeafor (back) has been ruled out for Week 11.
Okeafor has 3.5 sacks to backup Bertrand Berry's 3.0, so the loss shouldn't prove too damaging. Berry will face off with Rams LT Alex Barron on Sunday. Fri, Nov 20, 2009 02:41:00 PM

Cardinals starting outside linebacker Chike Okeafor (shoulder) didn't play in the team's Week 2 win.

The extent of his injury is unknown at this point.

The Cardinals have moved Chike Okeafor to weak outside linebacker, where he's listed as the starter opposite LOLB Clark Haggans.

Haggans will probably only be a two-down player, with either Bert Berry or rookie Cody Brown replacing him on nickel downs. Okeafor, who played on the strong side last year, is now at a more pass rusher-friendly position and is a decent bet to lead Arizona in sacks. He won't see double teams at ROLB.

The Cardinals fully intend to keep Chike Okeafor in 2009, the last year on his contract.

Coming off a 60-tackle, 4.5-sack season, Okeafor counts $5.4M against the cap. He's easily their best LOLB option, however, with only 32-year-old Clark Haggans behind him. The Cards could still address the position via the draft.

Cardinals OLB Chike Okeafor (torn bicep) is fully healthy.

Okeafor lined up as the starting strong outsider linebacker in Friday's practice. Calvin Pace had 5.5 sacks there a year ago. Travis LaBoy was the starter at the weak side linebacker spot, which is the more numbers-friendly position. But LaBoy may have to rotate with Clark Haggans and/or Bertrand Berry.

Cardinals placed OLB Chike Okeafor on injured reserve with a torn biceps tendon, ending his season.

Okeafor suffered the injury during the preseason and planned to play through it after undergoing surgery last month. However, he was given a four-month recovery timetable by doctors and the Cardinals will now look to recently acquired Quentin Moses to potentially fill his role at outside linebacker.

Cardinals OLB Chike Okeafor, who underwent surgery for a biceps tear on Wednesday, will attempt to play this season.

Okeafor was given a four-month rehab period by doctors, but is one of the most physically fit players in the league and thinks he could return in "weeks, not months." Bertrand Berry, who suffered the same injury last year, has his doubts and the Arizona Republic doesn't believe Okeafor will return either.

Cardinals OLB Chike Okeafor (torn biceps) underwent surgery Wednesday.

Okeafor is likely to be placed on the injured-reserve list in a week or two.

An MRI confirmed that Cardinals OLB Chike Okeafor suffered a torn left bicep on Saturday. RT Oliver Ross tore his left tricep.

Both players are likely to miss the season if they opt for surgery, which is expected. Okeafor is the big story here, as the Cardinals have poor depth behind him. They may have to stay more in a 4-3 instead of their preferred 3-4 alignment as a result. First-round pick Levi Brown will immediately move into the starting lineup, replacing Ross on Matt Leinart's blind side.

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt says Chike Okeafor will be used as a "kind of quasi-defensive end/linebacker" in the team's new 3-4 defense.

At 6-5/265, Okeafor has the body type for the switch but hasn't played with his hand up since his college days at Purdue. Still, this could give Okeafor a boost in IDP leagues that place a high value on tackles.

Cardinals defensive end Chike Okeafor finished 2006 with 8.5 sacks.

Okeafor did an excellent job staying productive without Bertrand Berry (torn triceps) opposite him for the second half of the season. He will be back starting at left end for the Cardinals in 2007.

Chike Okeafor has enjoyed a big preseason in Arizona.

So far, the combination of Okeafor and Bertrand Berry is living up to expectations. Okeafor caused a safety Friday, while Berry forced a fumble and recovered it. Okeafor could be an IDP steal this season.

NFL Network reports defensive end Chike Okeafor will sign with the Cardinals.

It gives Arizona a fine defensive line led by Bertrand Berry and second-year defensive tackle Darnell Dockett. Okeafor is a decent IDP defensive end with 16.5 sacks the last two years. His numbers should only go up across from Berry.

Defensive end Chike Okeafor is expected to choose between the Broncos, Cardinals, and Seahawks soon.

Arizona may provide the best IDP upside. Playing across from Bertrand Berry would help Okeafor.

The Broncos are closing in on a deal for former Seahawks defensive end Chike Okeafor.

With Reggie Hayward gone, Okeafor is probably the best defensive end on a very thin market. Arizona and Kansas City are also reportedly in the mix.
