Ravens acquired C A.Q. Shipley from the Colts in exchange for a 2014 conditional draft pick.
After Matt Birk retired, the Ravens were left with 2012 fourth-rounder Gino Gradkowski as their starting center. Shipley, who graded out positively on 476 snaps in front of Andrew Luck last year, will at least bring strong competition. It's another cost-effective, low-risk move for dominant Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome. May 9 - 10:04 AM

DE Mario Addison was waived in a corresponding roster move. Shipley appeared in one game earlier this season. His promotion isn't a good sign for C Samson Satele's (knee) status.

Colts signed C A.Q. Shipley to a reserve/future contract.

The Steelers' seventh-round pick in 2009, Shipley has yet to appear in an NFL game. He was in the Eagles' organization from 2010-2011, while new GM Ryan Grigson was a Philly scout. Shipley may be only a camp body for the Colts.

Shipley had plenty of chances to assert himself while Jamaal Jackson (knee) rehabbed, but never impressed. The Penn State product has extremely short arms, and his fate was sealed when the Birds traded for Reggie Wells.

Eagles signed C A.Q. Shipley to a reserve/future contract.

Shipley, an alligator-armed 2009 seventh-round pick from Penn State, spent the regular season on Pittsburgh's practice squad. With starter Jamaal Jackson nursing a torn ACL, Shipley should get plenty of reps during OTAs.

Steelers waived rookies C A.Q. Shipley and DE Sonny Harris.

Shipley, knocked for his T-Rex arms in the draft, failed to impress during training camp even with starter Justin Hartwig banged up. Both rookies will likely wind up on the practice squad after clearing waivers.

Steelers signed seventh-round C A.Q. Shipley to a three-year contract.

The deal includes a $42,000 signing bonus. Shipley, the 2008 Dave Rimington Trophy winner out of Penn State, slid in the draft due to concerns about his short arms. Despite the low draft position, he has the mean streak and drive to emerge as a starter in the future.
