Cardinals re-signed C A.Q. Shipley to a two-year contract.

Shipley played all but five offensive snaps for Arizona last season, earning PFF's No. 18 center grade out of 72 qualifiers. Shipley has overcome infamously short arms to settle in as one of the NFL's most reliable starting pivots.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said the starting center job is A.Q. Shipley's to lose.

The Cardinals let Lyle Sendlein walk this offseason, but they did add Evan Boehm in the fourth round. Boehm was expected to compete for the starting job, but it looks like Arians has not liked what he has seen during the offseason. Shipley will be surrounded on the offensive line by D.J. Humphries, Mike Iupati, Evan Mathis and Jared Veldheer.

A.Q. Shipley opened OTAs as the Cardinals' starting center.

A 29-year-old journeyman, Shipley has consistently performed well in past spot starts with the Colts and Ravens, but NFL front offices have never seen him as a legit starter because of his short arms. He's getting that chance in Arizona. The Cards' projected Week 1 line is LT Jared Veldheer, LG Mike Iupati, C Shipley, RT Jonathan Cooper, and RT D.J. Humphries or Bobby Massie.

Cardinals signed G/C A.Q. Shipley to a two-year contract.

Shipley played limited snaps after losing his starting job last season, but graded out positively in pass protection and in run blocking, according to Pro Football Focus. He'll give the Cardinals quality depth on the interior line. Shipley should push overpaid Lyle Sendlein for Arizona's center job.

XTRA 910 Arizona's Mike Jurecki reports the Cardinals are interested in free agent G/C A.Q. Shipley.

They'll host him for a free agent visit on Tuesday. The Cardinals are dead-set on shoring up the interior of their offensive line. Shipley can play any spot between the tackles and could even compete for the starting center job if Arizona plans to move on from veteran Lyle Sendlein.

The Colts do not plan to tender restricted free agent C A.Q. Shipley.

This comes as no surprise as Shipley was phased out of the Colts' offense by Week 5. He put quality tape out there during Weeks 1-4, but clearly wasn't a favorite of the coaching staff. With Shipley out of the mix, Jonotthan Harrison and Khaled Holmes are Colts' the top incumbents at center.

ESPN's Mike Wells doesn't expect the Colts to re-sign OL A.Q. Shipley.

A restricted free agent, Shipley will likely be non-tendered. He graded out as a top-15 center by Pro Football Focus, but played limited snaps after losing his starting job to Jonotthan Harrison in Week 5. Shipley should resurface on a veteran-minimum deal.

A.Q. Shipley will start at center in Week 3 against the Jaguars.

Shipley has graded out as a top-ten center by Pro Football Focus through two games. He'll remain the starter even with Khaled Holmes (probable, ankle) healthy enough to return.

ESPN Colts reporter Mike Wells expects A.Q. Shipley to start at center Week 1.

Shipley was claimed off waivers just six days ago, but has some familiarity with the Colts' system after spending 2012 in Indianapolis. No. 1 center Khaled Holmes (ankle) is expected to be inactive Week 1.

A.Q. Shipley took all of the Colts' first-team reps at center during Monday's practice.

Shipley was claimed off waivers on Sunday, but is at least somewhat familiar with the team after spending 2012 in Indy. No. 1 center Khaled Holmes is still battling a high-ankle sprain. He's not expected to play Week 1. The Colts have been hit hard by injuries up front. Their Week 1 line projects as LT Anthony Castonzo, LG Jack Mewhort, C Shipley, RG Hugh Thornton, RT Gosder Cherilus.

Colts claimed G/C A.Q. Shipley off waivers from the Ravens.

It's notable because the Colts traded Shipley to Baltimore in May 2013. Shipley started nine games for the Ravens last season, and five for the Colts in 2012. He's an insurance policy on C Khaled Holmes (high-ankle sprain).

Ravens released or waived C/G A.Q. Shipley, OG Ryan Jensen, RB Fitz Toussaint, DL A.J. Pataiali'i, TE Phillip Supernaw, CB Tramain Jacobs and QB Keith Wenning.

Shipley made nine starts, one at center and eight at left guard, last season. He was competing for a backup job. Jensen was given a shot to play right tackle in the spring, but it didn't pan out. Wenning is a practice squad candidate.

A.Q. Shipley will start at center in the Ravens' second preseason game.

Shipley is locked in a tight duel with Gino Gradkowski, who started the first exhibition game. Gradkowski is listed as the starter. "The problem is they're both playing real well right now," run-game coordinator Juan Castillo said. The Ravens are going to be fine at center despite losing Matt Birk to retirement.

Ravens acquired C A.Q. Shipley from the Colts in exchange for a 2014 conditional draft pick.

After Matt Birk retired, the Ravens were left with 2012 fourth-rounder Gino Gradkowski as their starting center. Shipley, who graded out positively on 476 snaps in front of Andrew Luck last year, will at least bring strong competition. It's another cost-effective, low-risk move for dominant Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome.
