Dolphins re-signed restricted free agent OT Lydon Murtha to a one-year, $1.927 million contract.
Murtha received a second-round tender. The Dolphins are high on Murtha's prospects as a potential swing tackle behind LT Jake Long and a right tackle to be named later. A former Nebraska Cornhuster, Murtha likely would have been a starter at some point last season if a toe injury hadn't cost him the entire year. Marc Colombo was a nightmare on the right side. Dolphins placed RT Lydon Murtha (toe) on injured reserve, ending his season.

He'll need surgery on the toe, indicating a fracture. Murtha was slated to begin the season as a backup, but could have seen some time at right tackle had Marc Colombo's preseason struggles carried over to the regular season. Murtha appeared in eight games a season ago, starting four. Injury prone, this is the second time in three years Murtha has ended up on injured reserve.

Dolphins RT Lydon Murtha suffered a concussion in Week 16 and has not been cleared to play for Week 17.

Murtha had not passed his baseline test as of Friday night, making his availability come Sunday highly unlikely. His absence would force Pat McQuistan to right tackle, Richie Incognito to guard, and Joe Berger to center.

Dolphins placed OT Lydon Murtha (ankle) on season-ending injured reserve.

Murtha unfortunately turned his ankle on the last play of practice. An intriguing long-term project with size and athleticism, the injury-prone Murtha had not seen game action since being claimed off waivers from the Lions.

Lions agreed to terms with seventh-round OT Lydon Murtha on a multi-year contract.

The fastest offensive lineman at the Combine, Murtha missed time during minicamps with ongoing back problems. His size, strength and athleticism bode well for a future at right tackle, but his injury history suggests he'll have a hard time staying on the field.

Lions seventh-round pick Lydon Murtha has been unable to practice at minicamps because of a back injury.

Murtha, who ran faster than any offensive lineman at the Combine, has been dogged by back problems since his freshman season at Nebraska. He has ability, but many teams probably red flagged him before the draft.
