The Titans reportedly considered benching SS Chris Hope late in the season in favor of Nick Schommer.

Hope ultimately talked them out of it, but it isn't a good sign for his future in Tennessee -- and especially not with a $6.5 million salary coming in 2011. The Titans reportedly like Schommer's physicality and playmaking ability in practice. Ideally, they'd find someone with better cover skills.

Titans S Nick Schommer is a long shot to make the team this season.

Schommer, a seventh-round pick last season, ran with the second team at minicamp. But with the Titans drafting two safeties (Myron Rolle and Robert Johnson), Schommer has a very steep climb ahead of him.
