There was no doubt the Pack would tender Dietrich-Smith a contract, but it appears they have faith in him as a long-term option after he replaced struggling veteran Jeff Saturday down the stretch last season. Seahawks claimed G/C Evan Dietrich-Smith off waivers from the Packers and DB Nate Ness off waivers from the Dolphins.

Ness is a safety/corner, but will focus on special teams. Dietrich-Smith was in Green Bay last year with current Seahawks GM John Schneider. The Idaho State alum has the athleticism necessary for zone blocking.
