Jets waived RB Chris Jennings.
Jennings got on the fantasy radar in 2009 after passing Jerome Harrison on the Browns' depth chart, but he was never a true NFL talent. The Jets also waived WR Michael Campbell, G Pete Clifford, WR Dan DePalma and C Zane Taylor. Fri, Sep 2, 2011 10:28:00 AM

Browns waived RB Chris Jennings.

The Browns will keep just Peyton Hillis and James Davis behind starter Jerome Harrison. Jennings does possess third-down skills, but he's only a fringe roster type. Heading back to the CFL may be his best bet.

Browns RB Chris Jennings will not be charged with a crime after allegedly hitting a bouncer in the mouth outside a Cleveland club last month.

Jennings has reached an agreement with the doorman, who has not signed the criminal complaint. The Browns are still well aware of the incident. It won't help Jennings' cause as he tries to make the team as a third-down back.

Browns RB Chris Jennings has been released from jail while authorities determine if he'll be charged after allegedly hitting a bouncer in the mouth.

The case has been turned over to the Cuyahoga County prosecutor's office. The Browns have acknowledged that they are aware of the incident, but haven't commented yet.

Browns RB Chris Jennings, who was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of assault, allegedly hit a bouncer in the mouth outside a Cleveland club called the "Velvet Dog" around 1:45AM.

Police driving by noticed the altercation and blood on the bouncer's face, and arrested Jennings, though he hasn't been formally charged. The incident allegedly began because Jennings' friend didn't meet the club's dress code.

Browns RB Chris Jennings was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of assault. He was not charged with a crime.

As of 8:15 AM, Jennings was still being held in city jail. He reportedly "ran into trouble" with a doorman at a local club. The former CFL star already figured to be on the roster bubble this year, and this won't help his case.

Browns re-signed exclusive rights free agent RB Chris Jennings to a one-year contract.

Jennings, 24, mysteriously (until you consider the coach) jumped ahead of Jerome Harrison at one point in the second half of 2009, but Harrison's production ultimately became too hard to keep off the field. A third-string caliber runner with some third-down value, Jennings will be on the roster bubble. He's not nearly as talented as Harrison or James Davis.

Browns extended exclusive rights tenders to restricted free agents RB Chris Jennings, LB Marcus Benard, and LB Blake Constanzo.

Jennings started a couple of games before Jerome Harrison's late-season emergence, but he isn't a sure bet to make the roster. Benard came on strong in December, finishing with 3.5 sacks in the final four games. Constanzo is a special teamer.

Browns RB Chris Jennings ran for 38 yards on nine carries in the team's Week 17 win over Jacksonville.

He took a backseat to Jerome Harrison for the third straight game. Jennings was an odd favorite of the Eric Mangini regime, but doesn't even possess talent to be a quality No. 2 NFL back. He'll be on the bubble in 2010, and won't be a good bet to make the roster assuming a staff change is executed.

Chris Jennings ran for 18 yards on seven carries in the Browns' Week 15 win over Kansas City.

Jennings had a team-high 21 touches in Week 14, but the Browns opted to ride the hot hand in this one. Jerome Harrison had it earlier, and it continued all day as he finished with a franchise record 284 rushing yards. Keep Jennings reserved in all leagues against the Raiders in Week 16.

The Browns have all three of their running backs active for Sunday's game at Kansas City -- Chris Jennings, Jerome Harrison, and Josh Cribbs.

The Browns' inactives are third QB Brett Ratliff, DB Coye Francies, DB Ray Ventrone, LB David Veikune, OL Billy Yates, TE Greg Estandia, WR Jake Allen, and DL Robaire Smith inactive for Week 15. Smith's loss is the most notable, and improves Jamaal Charles' matchup. He's Cleveland's best defensive end.

Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer speculates that the reason Chris Jennings didn't get much work in Week 13 was because of his sore shoulder.

Jamal Lewis has been on injured reserve for the last two games. In Week 13, Jennings got six touches while Jerome Harrison got 17. In Week 14, Jennings was the workhorse with 20 carries and Harrison touched the ball just nine times. Both backs are going to get a chance and coach Eric Mangini will ride the hot hand. Even in plus matchups, it's hard to trust either.

Chris Jennings rushed 20 times for 73 yards and a touchdown and added one reception for two yards in leading the Browns to a Week 14 upset over the Steelers, 13-6.

Jennings and Josh Cribbs combined for 171 of the Browns' 261 yards, carrying the team on the ground. The 171 rushing yards are the most the Browns have had against Steelers since 1972. Jennings began the game as a situational red-zone back, but was rewarded with the feature back role after showing more power and explosion than a struggling Jerome Harrison. If Jennings can hold off Harrison, he has attractive matchups against the Chiefs and Raiders the next two weeks. He'll be a top waiver add in Week 15.

Browns RB Chris Jennings (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice, but is listed as probable for Thursday night.

He'll be active against the Steelers, but will only fill a change of pace/third-down role in a matchup with Pittsburgh's No. 1 overall run defense.

Browns RB Chris Jennings (shoulder) was limited again in Tuesday's practice.

He remains on track to be active Thursday night, but saw just six touches compared to starter Jerome Harrison's 17 last week. Look for Jennings to primarily function as a third-down/change-of-pace back against Pittsburgh.
