Patriots signed FB Kareem Huggins and S Derrick Martin.

Out of the game last season following a catastrophic 2010 knee injury, Huggins is attempting to remake himself as a fullback. He's only 5-foot-9, 198. A special teamer, Martin made 12 tackles in 14 games for the Giants last season.

Free agent RB Kareem Huggins reportedly "blew out everything" in his knee when he suffered a torn ACL in October.

The concern is that Huggins will no longer be a "NFL caliber runner" once the multiple ligaments as well as the meniscus have finally recovered. The Bucs will revisit Huggins late this summer if he's showing signs of progress, but he's going to be an extreme longshot to make an NFL roster in September.

The Buccaneers failed to extend a tender to exclusive rights free agent RB Kareem Huggins (torn ACL).

It certainly doesn't bode well for Huggins' future in Tampa. Huggins tore multiple ligaments in October in addition to a torn meniscus. He's still walking with a noticeable limp four months removed from surgery. For comparison's sake, Arrelious Benn had lost his limp one month after ACL surgery. Huggins is unlikely to be ready for training camp. The Bucs want him to show that he's healthy before bringing him back.

Bucs placed RB Kareem Huggins on injured reserve with a torn right ACL, ending his season.

The Bucs are almost certain to make running back a priority in 2011, so Huggins is no lock to make the roster next year. His ideal role is the change-of-pace back, which brings little fantasy value. Huggins can be safely dropped even in 20-25 deep Dynasty leagues.

Kareem Huggins suffered a torn right ACL in Sunday's loss to the Saints and will miss the rest of the season.

The camp darling was just starting to stamp his name on a timeshare with Cadillac Williams. It means that Caddy is going to keep getting the lion's share of touches despite averaging an embarrassing 2.5 yards per carry on 76 totes this season. Rookie LeGarrette Blount is also set up for a role now, but this backfield remains one to avoid in fantasy.

The word out of the Bucs' locker room was that Kareem Huggins may have torn knee ligaments in Sunday's loss to the Saints.

We'll find out for sure tomorrow after Huggins has his MRI, but his season could very well be over. Huggins' foot was planted in the turf when he took a direct hit to the knee. It means that Cadillac Williams will continue to be used more than he should and LeGarrette Blount may finally get a real chance.

Kareem Huggins limped to the sideline with a knee injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Saints and did not return.

Huggins was mixing in every third series or so for Cadillac Williams. The exact extent of his injury is unclear, but the Bucs will be hoping it's just a sprain. If it's a serious injury, LeGarrette Blount will likely get a chance to prove himself next week. Huggins ends up with three carries for seven yards and a 7-yard catch in Week 6.

Kareem Huggins (groin) returned to the practice field Tuesday, as expected.

Huggins used the bye week to get back up to full speed, and he's in line for an increased role on passing downs going forward. LeGarrette Blount is the better wavier pickup for now, but Huggins is worth a stash in deeper leagues.

Bucs RB Kareem Huggins' expanded role going forward is expected to consist of primarily passing-down work.

Huggins is healthy after battling a groin injury in the first few weeks. This backfield suddenly has the look of a three-headed monster. LeGarrette Blount will work on early downs and in short-yardage situations, while Cadillac Williams will start games and mix in during all phases. The demotion is deserved, but Williams loses a ton of scoring and reception potential.

Kareem Huggins (groin) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Steelers.

Huggins has fallen behind Earnest Graham for No. 2 RB duties as he can't seem to shake this injury. He's only worth holding on to in the deepest of formats. Other Bucs inactives: Third QB Rudy Carpenter, WR Maurice Stovall, C Ted Larsen, DE Michael Bennett, LB Niko Koutouvides and CB Myron Lewis.

Bucs RB Kareem Huggins (questionable, groin) was limited in Friday's practice.

According to the team, his "game status is still to be determined." The limited practice was step back from Huggins' full Thursday workout, so he isn't headed in the right direction. He may need another week on the shelf.

Bucs RB Kareem Huggins (groin) practiced in full again on Thursday.

Huggins is on track to be active again in Week 3 after missing last week's game. With Cadillac Williams (hamstring) banged up and unproductive, Huggins is worth a speculative roster stash this week.

Bucs RB Kareem Huggins (groin) returned to a full practice Wednesday.

It appears Huggins is on track to make his season debut. Unfortunately, it would come against a Steelers defense that's looked as tough as any in football through two weeks. Huggins is just barely worth a fantasy roster spot.

Kareem Huggins was inactive in Week 2 due to a lingering groin injury.

Huggins was pegged for an expanded role, but he's now falling behind the eight ball. Earnest Graham continues to function as the No. 2 running back. The good news for Huggins is that Cadillac Williams is averaging 2.6 yards per carry so far this season. The running game needs an injection of youth, even if it's just in a "change of pace" role.
