Panthers acquired G/T Bruce Campbell from the Raiders in exchange for RB Mike Goodson.
A "workout warrior" during the 2010 Scouting Combine, Campbell was drafted by Al Davis two Aprils ago after running a 4.85 forty at 6-foot-6 3/8 and 314 pounds. He has freakish, 36 1/4-inch arms, but remains a major project going on age 24. Campbell never made a start in two seasons with the Raiders. He'll have to compete for a role as a backup, swing-type tackle in Carolina. Fri, Mar 30, 2012 03:42:00 PM

The Raiders have moved Bruce Campbell from guard back to tackle.

A workout wonder and 2010 fourth-round pick, Campbell has played nine snaps on offense this season, two at left guard and seven as a tight end in jumbo packages. Still just 23 years old, Campbell remains purely a project.

Raiders declared OG Bruce Campbell inactive for Monday's Week 1 game against the Broncos.

This confirms reports that Campbell was nowhere close to taking over as the team's starting right guard. WR Louis Murphy, TE Kevin Boss and S Michael Mitchell were all declared out prior to Monday's contest. WR Derek Hagan was unable to crack a deep wide receiver rotation. TE Davis Ausberry and LB Bruce Davis round out the inactives.

Raiders OG Bruce Campbell has resumed practicing after missing the first two weeks of camp with a knee injury.

Beat writer Steve Corkran notes that Campbell doesn't look 100 percent, but he's fighting for a roster spot, let alone a starting job. The Raiders would have liked for Campbell to emerge as their first-team right guard job over Cooper Carlisle. Instead, the athletic former fourth-round pick is behind the eight ball three weeks before the season.

Raiders OG Bruce Campbell is not likely to start at right tackle in 2011.

Most expect Campbell to be a starter next season, but it will most likely be at one of the guard spots. The former Maryland left tackle has the raw talent to play anywhere, but it might be imprudent to start Campbell at tackle after he appeared in just 10 games as a rookie in 2010, starting none.

Citing a Raiders employee, the Oakland Tribune confirms that owner Al Davis wants OG Bruce Campbell in the starting lineup in 2011.

Davis fell in love with Campbell after an exceptional showing in the Combine last year. He remains high on the former Terp after a rookie season spent learning the ropes at guard. Expect Campbell to take his lumps as a first-time starter, but he certainly has the talent to excel if motivated.

Bruce Campbell is expected to start "somewhere on the offensive line" next season.

The most obvious spot is left guard as Robert Gallery's replacement, though right guard (for Cooper Carlisle) and right tackle (for Langston Walker) are also possibilities. Campbell was essentially red-shirted as a developmental project last year. Owner Al Davis was said to be peeved at former coach Tom Cable for not giving Campbell an audition in the season finale.

Raiders owner Al Davis was reportedly unhappy with Tom Cable for not playing rookie OG Bruce Campbell and Darren McFadden (turf toe) in the Week 17 finale.

Cable's specialty is offensive line, so it's hard to question his judgment on a project like Campbell being ready for his first game action. Despite the Raiders' 31-10 victory at Arrowhead Stadium, Davis was in a sour mood afterward. Asked if 8-8 was a good finish, he shot back, "If that’s the world you live in."

Raiders signed fourth-round T/G Bruce Campbell to a four-year contract.

Campbell is expected to receive playing time at right guard this season, meaning the Raiders could have two rookies on their starting offensive line. Along with fellow rookie Jared Veldheer, Oakland has two youngsters with high upside to groom as protection for new quarterback Jason Campbell.

Rookie Bruce Campbell admitted he is struggling with the transition from a college left tackle to right guard at Raiders OTAs.

"Now I'm on the inside with a lot of help," he said. "People would say it's easier, but I don't see it being easier right now." Once Campbell gets comfortable, guard should be easier to learn. He still projects as a long-term tackle.

Coach Tom Cable indicated that fourth-rounder Bruce Campbell has been switched to guard so he can get playing time as a rookie.

Right guard Cooper Carlisle's play has fallen off the past two years and left guard Robert Gallery is coming off back surgery, so Campbell could be valuable insurance. While he's insanely athletic, he's still far too raw to handle edge rushers as a rookie. It's a smart move by Cable.

Fourth-round pick Bruce Campbell is working as a guard at the Raiders' minicamp.

Campbell still projects as a long-term tackle, but the Raiders are exposing him to the guard spot so he can get extra reps and be ready in case of emergency. There's still a chance Campbell could see starts as a rookie with the Raiders' offensive line in shambles.

Coach Tom Cable indicated that fourth-round pick Bruce Campbell will play right tackle and guard with the Raiders.

Cable is also hoping to utilize Campbell's freakish size/speed package on special teams. Khalif Barnes, currently penciled in as the starting right tackle, has been a turnstile the past two years. If Campbell shows any sign of promise in training camp, he could begin pushing for the starting job.

Raiders selected Maryland OT Bruce Campbell with the No. 106 overall pick in the 2010 draft.

Campbell lands with the Raiders, as predicted, but he comes about 100 picks after agent Drew Rosenhaus predicted during a dominant Combine performance. Despite some of the most impressive measurables ever recorded by an offensive line prospect, nobody knows if he can play. His college tape was underwhelming at best, and scouts have concerns about his ability to process information quickly. Al Davis will love his upside, but Campbell is a longshot to contribute as a rookie.

After two days of the draft, Bruce Campbell remains unselected, to go with a host of other big names.

Some other top talents confirm the depth of this year's draft. Georgia Tech RB Jon Dwyer, Florida TE Aaron Hernandez, Pitt TE Dorin Dickerson, USF WR Carlton Mitchell, USC RB Joe McKnight, USC DE Everson Griffen, BYU TE Dennis Pitta, Clemson DE Ricky Sapp, Northwestern DE Corey Wootton, Cincinnati WR Mardy Gilyard, UConn WR Marcus Easley, Indiana (PA) CB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Fordham QB John Skelton, Mississippi State RB Anthony Dixon, Oklahoma State CB Perrish Cox, Florida WR Riley Cooper, USC TE Anthony McCoy, Oklahoma CB Dominique Franks, Boston College C Matt Tennant, North Carolina NT Cam Thomas, Utah S Robert Johnson, South Carolina OLB Eric Norwood, and Kansas WR Dezmon Briscoe remain available. We might have to do a fourth-round mock.
