Browns agreed to terms with P Britton Colquitt, formerly of the Broncos.

The Browns are now carrying three punters on their roster -- Colquitt, Kasey Redfern, and Michael Palardy -- but they will almost certainly cut two by the end of the weekend. Colquitt is likely going to be their 2016 punter.

The Broncos have asked P Britton Colquitt to accept a pay cut.

If Colquitt doesn't accept, he will likely be released. The Broncos would then roll with rookie Riley Dixon at punter. Once one of the NFL's highest-paid punters, Colquitt is entering a contract year. He is owed $3.25 million.

Broncos signed P Britton Colquitt to a three-year, $11.7 million extension through 2016.

Because Colquitt was due $1.323 million via his restricted tender, it's really a four-year pact worth $13.023 million. The "new money" alone makes Colquitt the league's highest paid punter. Colquitt, 28, comes from a long line of punters that includes Dustin (Chiefs), and former NFLers Craig (Steelers) and Jimmy (Seahawks). Britton holds a career gross punting average of 46.1 yards.

The Broncos and P Britton Colquitt have had contract extension discussions.

Colquitt, 28, was re-signed to a one-year, $1.323 million contract as a restricted free agent earlier in the offseason, but the two sides have long been interested in a long-term deal. He was third in net punting average (42.1) last season.

The Broncos are expected to tender restricted free agent P Britton Colquitt at the second-round level.

The tender will pay Colquitt $2.023 million, and another team would have to give Denver a second-round choice in order to sign him away. That won't happen. The two sides will try and work out a long-term deal. Britton's brother, Dustin, just became the league's highest-paid punter on Monday with the Chiefs.

Broncos re-signed exclusive rights free agent P Britton Colquitt.

Britton Colquitt has pulled ahead of A.J. Trapasso for the Broncos' punting job.

"That's a competitive situation, you know, like we have at a lot of places on our football team, and I think that's only making both of them better but at this point, I'd say that Britton has kind of pulled ahead," said coach Josh McDaniels. This is notable for those who play in punter fantasy leagues.

Starter Mitch Berger hasn't been cut yet, so he may stay on to hold for K Matt Prater. Berger had a couple of wretched kicks against the Eagles last week and ended up with a 34.9-yard average on seven punts.
