49ers CB Perrish Cox will not be suspended.
Cox was found not guilty of sexually assaulting a woman that had passed out at his Denver apartment in 2010. The woman has since filed a civil suit against him, but the NFL is turning the page. The incident was Cox's first brush with the league's personal conduct policy. Expect Cox to serve as a backup corner and second nickel back this season. Fri, Aug 17, 2012 09:01:00 AM

The Sacramento Bee calls CB Perrish Cox one of the standouts of the 49ers' offseason program.

Per beat writer Matt Barrows, Cox has "jumped out for his aggressiveness." Cox has taken snaps both on the outside and in the slot, and has also worked on punt returns. The 49ers' secondary is perhaps the most stacked in the league, but Cox's chances of earning a roster spot appear good.

49ers CB Perrish Cox could still be facing league discipline even though he was found not guilty in his sexual assault case.

"We will review the facts," said league spokesman Greg Aiello. "That is standard procedure." Ben Roethlisberger was suspended for six games under similar circumstances in 2010, but eventually had his ban reduced to four games. Cox is allowed to participate in the Niners' offseason program.

Profootballtalk.com reports 49ers CB Perrish Cox is facing a civil lawsuit from the woman he was acquitted of sexually assaulting.

As is Cox's former teammate Demaryius Thomas, who was present "around" the time of the alleged assault, but never charged with a crime. As Profootballtalk points out, the lower standard of proof in civil cases means Cox could be hit with a costly judgment even though he was acquitted in his criminal case. The Niners surely knew of such a possibility when they signed Cox in March.

49ers signed CB Perrish Cox to a two-year contract.

Cleared of sexual assault charges last Friday, the 2010 fifth-round pick will get a chance to revive his career in one of the league's most dominating defenses after sitting out 2011. Cox's signing could indicate the 49ers don't expect to re-sign free agent Carlos Rogers. Although Cox had an excellent rookie season for the Broncos in 2010, he'll likely open the year behind Tarell Brown, Chris Culliver and Tramaine Brock on the depth chart. A first-round talent, Cox does have the capability to climb that pecking order quickly if his head is on straight.

Free agent CB Perrish Cox plans on playing in 2012 after being cleared of sexual assault charges on Friday, but not with the Broncos.

Cox was available to play in 2011, but drew scant interest as he awaited trial. According to the Denver Post, "multiple teams" let Cox know they'd be interested if his name was cleared. A fifth-round pick in 2010, Cox notched 58 tackles and an interception as a rookie.

Free agent CB Perrish Cox was acquitted on charges of sexual assault in a Douglas County court on Friday.

Cox could have faced two years to life if found guilty of raping a drunk woman and impregnating her. Instead, the 25-year-old cornerback was found not guilty for lack of evidence. According to the Denver Post's Mike Klis, "at least one team" has interest in Cox, a first- or second-round talent who fell to the fifth round of the 2010 draft due to previous off-field woes.

Free agent CB Perrish Cox's trial for sexual assault will begin this week.

Testimony from Cox's former teammates and current Broncos Cassius Vaughn and Demaryius Thomas is expected later in the week. Vaughn and Thomas were at Cox's apartment "around the time of the alleged assault." Cox, who has maintained his innocence, faces two years to life in prison if found guilty.

According to Profootballtalk.com, the Redskins gave former Broncos CB Perrish Cox a tryout in early November.

It was Cox's only known tryout of the season. The NFL has surprisingly handed down no discipline to Cox after he was arrested in December 2010 for (allegedly) raping and impregnating a woman who had passed out at a party. Cox's DNA was found in and on the woman, and he was charged with a double felony. Cox has starting-caliber NFL ability, but he's quite the "turd."

Broncos waived CB Perrish Cox.

The move is almost certainly due to Cox's off-the-field troubles, as he acquitted himself quite well as a rookie in Denver last season. He'll get claimed on waivers.

Broncos CB Perrish Cox is getting few practice reps in camp and appears in danger of not making the final, 53-man roster.

The Broncos are using Cox as a backup slot corner, a position completely new to him. "I've never been in there before and that's kind of tough," he said. "Going inside is totally different." Cox showed extremely well as a rookie outside corner, but off-field woes have landed him in the doghouse. If waived at final cuts, we suspect Cox would find a new home quickly.

The details of Broncos CB Perrish Cox's December double-felony arrest were released in court Friday, and the second-year cornerback is accused of raping and impregnating a woman after drugging her.

"The allegations involving Perrish Cox are extremely serious and troubling to our organization," the Broncos said in a statement. The Denver Post expects the Broncos to part ways with Cox, who had a number of off-field character issues at Oklahoma State. We suppose the fact that there's a new coaching staff in Denver may slightly help Cox's chances of getting another shot, but when it comes to crimes it doesn't get much more disturbing than that.

A Douglas County, Colorado judge has ruled that the arrest affidavit in the sexual assault case of Broncos CB Perrish Cox can be made public.

It will be within the next seven days. The affidavit "details evidence prosecutors have against Cox." Cox argued against the affidavit's release, saying it would harm his ability to obtain a fair trial. Set to go to trial in October, Cox's sentence could range from two years to life in prison if convicted.

Broncos CB Perrish Cox pleaded not guilty to sexual assault charges Monday.

Cox's trial is set for Oct. 18 in a Douglas County, a Denver suburb. He's charged with two felony counts related to assaulting a "helpless victim incapable of appraising her own condition." The maximum punishment for the charges is life in prison.

Broncos CB Perrish Cox is scheduled for an arraignment on May 16 after his attorney waived the right to a preliminary hearing Thursday.

The big news in the Cox sexual assault case was the judge's denial of the defense attorney's request to have the hearing closed to the media and the public. Cox is facing two felony charges accusing him essentially of raping a helpless victim.
