Joe Haden (ankle) shed his walking boot on Tuesday, but remains without a timetable for return.

Browns CB Joe Haden (ankle surgery) remains in a walking boot.

Haden went under the knife a month ago. Speaking two weeks ago, coach Hue Jackson declined to put a timetable on Haden's return. Browns EVP Sashi Brown said earlier this offseason that it was "too early to tell" if Haden would be ready for Week 1. In addition to an ankle injury last season, Haden suffered a severe concussion, as well as rib and finger issues.

Browns coach Hue Jackson declined to put a timetable on CB Joe Haden's (ankle) return.

"I'm not going to put a timetable on it, how it happened, when it happened nor exactly when he will get back," Jackson said. "I just know this, he is in this building every day working extremely hard." Haden underwent ankle surgery in mid-March after missing 11 games due to a rib injury, a broken finger, an ankle injury and a severe concussion last season. Browns EVP Sashi Brown said at the Owners Meetings "it's too early to tell" if Haden will be ready for Week 1. With safeties Tashaun Gipson (Jaguars) and Donte Whitner (released) off the roster, the Browns need Haden healthy more than ever.
Apr 7 - 12:10 PM

Browns EVP of football operations Sashi Brown said "it's too early to tell" if CB Joe Haden (ankle, concussions) will be ready for Week 1.

Haden underwent ankle surgery last week. He also missed multiple games with serious concussion issues last season before landing on injured reserve. Coach Hue Jackson said the team expects Haden back "at some point," but the organization is working on contingency plans. After losing FS Tashaun Gipson in free agency, the secondary cannot afford to be without Haden.

Browns LCB Joe Haden underwent ankle surgery this week.

Haden reportedly suffered the ankle issue during last season. He also missed time with a concussion, rib, and finger injuries before getting shut down in Week 13. Haden will miss the entire offseason, but expects to return for training camp. Haden's $10.1 million 2016 salary is fully guaranteed.
Mar 18 - 6:39 PM

Browns LCB Joe Haden's $10.1 million base salary for 2016 became fully guaranteed on Wednesday.

Previously, his salary was only guaranteed for injury. Concussions limited Haden to five games last season. Even when healthy Haden was ineffective, receiving a negative grade from Pro Football Focus. Haden's concussion stories were scary, experiencing headaches and light sensitivity. Haden released a statement in December saying doctors told him to expect a "full recovery."
Feb 10 - 4:56 PM

Browns LCB Joe Haden (injured reserve, concussions) says he dealt with headaches, light sensitivity and was "hidden in his house for a month or two" after suffering his second concussion of the season in Week 8.

That's as scary as it gets with concussions, but Haden has already indicated he plans to return in 2016. Another concussion could end Haden's career.

In a press release, Browns CB Joe Haden (concussions, IR) said doctors have told him to expect a "full recovery."

Haden suffered multiple concussions this season and was unable to clear the protocol more than a month after his latest brain injury. It is a scary situation which had to make Haden consider his long-term health, but it sounds like he plans to continue playing.

Browns placed CB Joe Haden (concussions) on injured reserve, ending his season.

After playing like a true shutdown cornerback in the second half of the 2014 season, Haden was painfully ineffective early in 2015 before suffering multiple concussions. He couldn't pass computer and written tests in order to get medically cleared. It's fair to wonder about Haden's long-term health. The Browns have the 26-year-old under contract for three more seasons at base salaries that are all in excess of $10 million.

Browns coach Mike Pettine said the decision whether or not to place Joe Haden (concussion) and Andrew Hawkins (concussion) on injured reserve is coming soon.

Both players suffered multiple concussions in a short time frame earlier this season. Placing them on injured reserve is the safe thing to do. With the season lost, the decision should be even easier.

Browns coach Mike Pettine said the team has not discussed placing Joe Haden (concussion) on injured reserve but said it could be an option.

Pettine said the same about WR Andrew Hawkins. Haden has played once since Week 5 while dealing with two concussions. Pettine revealed last week Haden had still not passed the written and computer tests which would indicate he is back at his baseline level. Placing Haden on injured reserve might be in the best interest of all involved.

Browns LCB Joe Haden (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 12.

He'll miss his third straight game. The Browns secondary has struggled without Haden, but remain a top streaming option against an injury-filled Ravens offense. Some combination of Pierre Desir and Charles Gaines will replace Haden.
