Browns CB Joe Haden (shoulder) is active for Week 17 against the Ravens.
Haden only got in limited practices this week, but will give it a go in the season finale. It is a bit of a downgrade for Steve Smith, but Smith was not a quality starting option either way. Sun, Dec 28, 2014 11:54:00 AM

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports Joe Haden (shoulder) will not play Sunday at Carolina.

It's a nice boost to Kelvin Benjamin and Cam Newton's matchups. When healthy, Haden has been a top-five cover corner in the second half of this season. Look for Buster Skrine to now shadow Benjamin all over the field, much as he did to A.J. Green after Haden left last week's game against Cincinnati.

Browns LCB Joe Haden (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Haden got very little practice work in during the week, but indications out of Cleveland still seem more optimistic than pessimistic. Officially, he'll likely be a game-time call. Kelvin Benjamin would get a very nice matchup boost if Haden could not play Sunday at Carolina.

Browns LCB Joe Haden (shoulder) has yet to resume practicing.

Haden was riding a stationary bike at Thursday's session. That's a sign he's yet to be ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers. With the Browns fighting for a .500 record or better, they'd undoubtedly let Haden suit up even if he doesn't practice this week. His status will be updated in the next 48 hours.

Browns LCB Joe Haden (shoulder) is day to day.

Haden's Monday MRI apparently delivered good news. The Browns are an extreme long-shot to make the playoffs — they'd need the Chiefs and Chargers to tie in Week 17 — but they'll undoubtedly push their best defender to play this weekend as they strive for a .500 season. Haden's health is extra important since Justin Gilbert (concussion) is also banged up.

Joe Haden has told teammates he doesn't think the shoulder injury he sustained Sunday is serious.

Haden will undergo an MRI, which will reveal the final word here. The elite corner did not return to Sunday's ugly loss to the Bengals after going down in the second quarter.

Browns LCB Joe Haden suffered a right-shoulder injury in Cleveland's Week 15 game against the Bengals, and will not return.

Haden ambled to the locker room in the second quarter, and was officially ruled out after halftime. It's a huge blow for a Browns team that's had everything to wrong in Johnny Manziel's first start. Haden had given up a few completions to A.J. Green, but was going toe to toe with Cincy's No. 1 receiver.

Joe Haden (hip) is active for Sunday's Week 6 game against the Steelers.

Haden has always had a ton of trouble with Antonio Brown. Now operating at less than 100 percent, he's in for a long day.

Browns LCB Joe Haden (hip) returned to practice on a "very" limited basis Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Even if Haden tries to play against the Steelers, he's likely to be a liability trying to play through a balky hip. When at 100 percent, Antonio Brown has regularly had Haden's number. The Browns might be better off holding him out.

Browns LCB Joe Haden (hip) missed Wednesday and Thursday's practices.

He's looking very shaky for Sunday's game against the Steelers and tormentor Antonio Brown. At this point, Haden should be considered likely to sit. His status will be updated some time in the next 72 hours.

Browns coach Mike Pettine considers LCB Joe Haden (hip) "iffy" to play in Week 6 against the Steelers.

Hip injuries are bad news for cornerbacks, who need to be fluid to turn and run with wide receivers. The Browns would be smart to hold Haden out; he's long had a ton of trouble guarding Antonio Brown anyway. Losing Haden would force the Browns to give struggling first-round pick Justin Gilbert more action.

Coach Mike Pettine called out CB Joe Haden Monday.

Haden gave up a critical 32-yard gain to Steve Smith late in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. "The great ones are going to make big plays when it's needed, and I think that's one area where Joe will look to improve," said Pettine. Haden is PFF's No. 94 corner among 96 qualifiers through three weeks. Despite a big name and big contract, he's not a corner fantasy owners should be shying away from.

Browns signed CB Joe Haden to a five-year, $68 million contract extension through the 2019 season.

Somewhat coming out of nowhere to close the deal, the Browns have Haden locked up through his age-30 season. Per PFT's Michael David Smith, the deal includes a $14 million signing bonus and $22 million fully guaranteed. Another $23 million is guaranteed for injury. All of the figures surpass Richard Sherman's deal, which is actually a year shorter in length. In terms of annual average, Sherman is still the highest-paid corner. Haden was a top-18 corner at PFF last season. Quarterbacks had a 75.2 passer rating throwing at the former No. 7 overall pick. The Browns got Haden some help this past weekend in the draft, taking CBs Justin Gilbert eighth overall and Pierre Desir in the fourth round.

Extension talks between the Browns and CB Joe Haden are reportedly "proceeding."

Per ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi, there are "no worries." The Browns have gobs of cap space and a desire to lock up Haden, who is set to make $6.67 million this season -- the final year of his rookie deal. The 25-year-old (on Monday) could afford to improve his consistency but has flashed true shutdown ability.

NFL Network's Albert Breer confirms extending Joe Haden's contract remains "a top priority" despite the Browns' front-office change.

It's a smart plan because true No. 1 cornerbacks like Haden are hard to find, and the 25-year-old is entering a walk year. Haden could be smart to limit the length of his next deal in hopes of landing a third megacontract just before he turns 30. A three- or four-year deal worth $12 million annually could work well for both sides. Darrelle Revis is getting $16 million a year in Tampa Bay.
