On the heels of last week's win over the Steelers featuring eight turnovers forced, CB Joe Haden believes the Browns have a top-five NFL defense.
The Browns are 3-3 with Haden in the lineup this year, and they've also welcomed healthy DTs Phil Taylor and Ahtyba Rubin back. For the first time since 1989, the defense has held the opponent under 65 yards rushing in consecutive weeks. They’ve also been under their yards-allowed average for five consecutive games. Joe Haden (oblique) is active for Sunday's Week 12 game against the Steelers.

Haden, one of the league's premier shutdown corners, ends up missing just one game. It's possible he'll shadow Mike Wallace, further complicating matters for "60 Minutes." The presence of Charlie Batch was already a major concern. The Browns' inactives: DB Dimitri Patterson, RB Brandon Jackson, DB Ross Ventrone, FB Owen Marecic, DL Ronnie Cameron, OL Jarrod Shaw and WR Josh Cooper.

Browns CB Joe Haden confirmed that he'll return from his oblique injury in Week 12.

Browns oft-burned nickel back Buster Skrine (concussion) will also be available. Sheldon Brown will start against the Steelers at right cornerback, although Haden may wind up shadowing Mike Wallace across the formation. Haden says his healthy is around 90 percent. "It's good enough," Haden promised to reporters after Friday's practice. "I can do everything." We'll see.

Browns CB Joe Haden (oblique) has resumed practicing.

He was officially limited on Wednesday. According to coach Pat Shurmur, Haden's Week 11 status "came down to the wire," so this puts him on track to return Sunday. Haden's return is bad news for Steelers' third-string QB Charlie Batch.

According to Browns coach Pat Shurmur, the decision to deactivate CB Joe Haden (oblique) for Week 11 "came down to the wire."

It suggests Haden has a good chance at returning against Pittsburgh. Cleveland's pass defense fared surprisingly well against Dallas without its top corner, but his absence in Week 12 would be a huge boon for the Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger-less passing attack. Barring a setback, Haden should be ready to roll against Pittsburgh.

Browns CB Joe Haden (oblique) has been declared out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

Good news for the Dallas passing attack. With Haden suspended for the first four weeks of the season, Cleveland's pass defense really struggled. CB Dimitri Patterson (ankle) has also been ruled out for Sunday. Buster Skrine and Sheldon Brown will start on the outside with Trevin Wade covering the slot. Upgrade all of the Cowboys' passing weapons at home in JerryWorld's dome.

Browns CB Joe Haden (questionable, oblique) will indeed travel to Cowboys Stadium for Sunday's game, but remains a game-time decision.

Haden will likely participate in a pre-game workout, based on which the Browns will determine whether to activate him. "We’ll just see where he’s at," coach Pat Shurmur said. "He feels better today, and on game day, we’ll decide if he can go." Even if active, Haden seems highly unlikely to be 100 percent. Start both Dez Bryant and Miles Austin as confidence Week 11 fantasy plays.

Coach Pat Shurmur has deemed Joe Haden (oblique) a game-time decision for Sunday at Dallas.

It's important news for Dez Bryant and Miles Austin. The Browns have been a different team with their best defensive player out of the lineup, rivaling the Saints and Bucs for the most burnable secondary in the NFL. If Haden can't play, Sheldon Brown and Buster Skrine will start, with rookie Trevin Wade in the nickel.

Browns CB Joe Haden was downgraded to a missed practice Thursday after being limited by an oblique injury on Wednesday.

The injury apparently occurred in Wednesday's practice. According to ESPN Cleveland, the oblique issue is "fairly serious" and has limited Haden "mightily," but the Browns' top cover corner still plans to play at Dallas on Sunday. A limited Haden would be good news for Dez Bryant and Miles Austin in an attractive matchup.

Browns CB Joe Haden confirmed that he intends to mirror A.J. Green in coverage in Week 6.

These two had some great battles last year, just as they did so many times in the SEC. In their Week 1 matchup, Haden held Green catch-less other than a 41-yard touchdown pass to Green that occurred only because the Browns were too slow to emerge from their defensive huddle. In Week 12, though, Green toasted Haden three times for 110 yards. Haden is legitimately one of the league's top 5-8 cover corners, but we'd still start Green with confidence in fantasy.

Browns CB Joe Haden's four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances is through.

It's not a moment too soon for the Browns, who went 0-4 during Haden's absence and allowed a 10:3 opposing TD:INT ratio. Enemy passers averaged 285.3 yards. That's despite the fact that two of the opposing quarterbacks were Ryan Fitzpatrick and Andy Dalton. Every opponent's No. 1 receiver found the end zone at least once. A shutdown corner, Haden's return will have a major impact.

NFL suspended Browns CB Joe Haden four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Cleveland's defense already couldn't stop the run, and now threatens to be among the league's most vulnerable against the pass minus its top defensive back and overall defender. The Browns' bye isn't until Week 10, so Haden will be eligible to return in Week 6. He'll miss matchups with the Bengals, Bills, Ravens, and Giants. The Browns often use Haden to "shadow" opposing No. 1 receivers, so A.J. Green, Stevie Johnson, Torrey Smith, and Hakeem Nicks all get breaks. Cleveland's next best cornerback is fading 33-year-old Sheldon Brown. If Sunday's opener against the Eagles was any indication, likely fill-in Buster Skrine is going to get torched in nickel packages over the next month. Dimitri Patterson will start, but kicks to the slot in sub-packages.

Browns CB Joe Haden is expected to be available for Sunday's opener against the Eagles.

Haden is facing a possible four-game suspension for testing positive for Adderall, but the case is under appeal. The NFL typically formalizes suspensions on Tuesdays before the upcoming game. Haden's ban could begin as soon as Week 2, but he is expected to be in the lineup against Philly. A shutdown corner, we expect Haden to spend most of Sunday's game covering DeSean Jackson.

President Mike Holmgren said that Joe Haden has appealed a four-game suspension.

It's confirmation that Haden did get suspended after reportedly testing positive for Adderall. By submitting an appeal, he's staved off serving that suspension for now. Holmgren admitted that he doesn't know for sure, but "suspect(s) if we haven't heard by now, we'll have him for the first game." Anytime Haden sits and Dimitri Patterson starts, the Browns' secondary takes a major hit.

The Browns and CB Joe Haden still haven't heard from commissioner Roger Goodell in regards to a possible suspension to start the season.

Haden said he has "no idea" if he will play in Sunday's opener against the Eagles, and wouldn't discuss the matter any further. It's possible that league officials are weighing an appeal. If Haden were to miss Week 1, and possibly beyond, Dimitri Patterson would likely fill in.
