Jonathan Hefney, who starred last year with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, lined up opposite Louis Delmas as the Lions' starting strong safety during Friday's minicamp practice.

The pint-sized (5'9/185) Hefney earned all-CFL and Rookie of the Year honors with Winnipeg, but his presence next to Delmas speaks volumes about the Lions' lack of options at strong safety. Hefney is a candidate to play situationally on passing downs, allowing C.C. Brown to concentrate on run defense. Despite his frame, Hefney was a smashing hitter at Tennessee.
