The Redskins have reportedly discussed a long-term deal with restricted free agent FB Darrel Young.

Young paved the way for Alfred Morris' eye-opening rookie season, appearing in all 16 games as a true lead-blocker. There's no urgency on deal because the Redskins can likely retain Young via a $1.323 right-of-first-refusal tender.

Redskins FB Darrel Young (hamstring) resumed practicing on Tuesday.

The lead-blocker in coach Mike Shanahan's zone-blocking scheme is expected to make his preseason debut on Saturday. Young's return will lead to fewer snaps for Chris Cooley, who had been moonlighting at fullback of late.

Redskins FB Darrel Young has been diagnosed with a concussion.

"We’ll find out more in the next couple days," coach Mike Shanahan said. Washington's lead blocker has carried the ball only once for seven yards this season, adding seven catches for 65 yards. Mike Sellers will get the start at fullback if Young can't go in Week 13.

Darrel Young carried the ball one time for 16 yards and caught one pass for three yards and a touchdown in Monday's Week 10 loss to Philadelphia, 59-28.

Who? The former Villanova linebacker was active as the team's third running back but moved into the backup role when Ryan Torain's hamstring stiffened in warmups. He caught a 3-yard touchdown pass, but did little else, as Keiland Williams handled a majority of the running back duties. It would take a slew of injuries to make Young fantasy relevant, and even then we'd expect the team to look outside of the organization for help.
