Darrel Young caught a nine-yard reception in Washington's Week 17 loss to the Cowboys.
An occasional vulture of a fullback, Young closes the book on 2014 having rushed nine times for 22 yards and three scores. Signed for $1.025 million next season, Young should be back to pave running lanes for Washington. Sun, Dec 28, 2014 07:11:00 PM

Redskins FB Darrel Young (hamstring) is questionable for Week 6 against Cardinals.

Young was a late addition to the injury report after practicing in full this week. It's a potential downgrade to Alfred Morris and Washington's run game. Young is currently PFF's No. 5 fullback.

A source tells CSN Washington that FB Darrel Young's job is safe.

Young's roster spot wasn't thought to be in danger because of talent -- he's among the league's top lead-blockers. It was a question mark because Jay Gruden rarely used a traditional fullback in Cincy, instead employing two-tight end sets in his pass-first scheme. Keeping Young is further evidence that the Redskins are going to at least attempt to stick with the Mike Shanahan scheme when they do run the ball.

Redskins FB Darrel Young believes there will be a role for him in new coach Jay Gruden's offense.

Gruden’s Bengals offenses rarely featured a fullback, instead relying heavily on two tight-end sets. Young was one of the better lead blockers in the league in Mike Shanahan's zone scheme last season, but faces an uncertain future under Gruden. Young has two years remaining on his three-year, $3.97 million contract. The Redskins can save $693,229 in 2014 cap space by cutting him.

Redskins FB Darrel Young (hamstring) is active for Sunday's Week 16 game against the Cowboys.

Young's presence is a little boost for Alfred Morris and the Redskins' running game. There are no surprises in their inactive list: QB Robert Griffin, S Baccari Rambo, DB Chase Minnifield, G Josh LeRibeus, LB Brandon Jenkins and C J.D. Walton.

Redskins FB Darrel Young (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Young practiced on a limited basis Friday, putting him on track to play against the Chiefs. His return would be an upgrade to Alfred Morris and Washington's running game. If Young is held out again this week, the Redskins would be forced to use Evan Royster as their starting fullback.

Redskins FB Darrel Young (hamstring) is inactive for Week 13 against the Giants.

Young was limited in practice this week and listed as questionable on the injury report. Logan Paulsen will likely handle all lead blocking duties in his absence. The rest of the Redskins inactives are QB Rex Grossman, TE Jordan Reed, CB Chase Minnefield, TE Niles Paul, LB Brandon Jenkins, and OL Josh LeRibeus.

Redskins FB Darrel Young (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 12.

Young was limited in practice this week and is tentatively expected to play on Monday night against the 49ers. He's managed to score touchdowns in two of his last three games, but remains off the fantasy radar.

Redskins FB Darrel Young rushed twice for six yards and caught one pass for a 62-yard touchdown in Sunday's Week 11 loss at Philadelphia.

Just like when Young rushed for three touchdowns in Week 9, this touchdown catch can be written off as a fluke as well. It was a broken play in which the Eagles forgot about Young and he just rumbled to the house. The lead blocker shouldn't be owned in any format.

Darrel Young rushed once for no gain in Washington's Week 10 loss to the Vikings.

Young was held without a catch on one target in the passing game. His lone carry came on a 3rd-and-1 from the Redskins' 49-yard line with time running out in the fourth quarter. He couldn't convert, setting up a fourth down. As was suspected, Young's three-touchdown outburst against the Chargers was game-plan specific to Week 9. He remains well off the fantasy radar.

ESPN Redskins blogger John Keim believes FB Darrel Young's three Week 9 touchdowns were less of a trend and more of a "wrinkle specific for (the Chargers') defense."

The Chargers didn't slant their defensive line, so Young's straight-ahead style worked wonders at the goal line. His touchdowns came from one, one, and four yards out. We wouldn't even bother picking up Young in fantasy leagues, beyond perhaps 16-teamers. He's a lead blocker and lightly-used checkdown option.

Redskins FB Darrel Young rushed five times for 12 yards with three touchdowns in Sunday's 30-24 Week 9 overtime win over the Chargers.

Don't overreact and add Young to your fantasy team. The Redskins found a play that worked -- a fullback dive out of the I-formation -- and used it when they happened to get inside the 4-yard line on three separate occasions. It's not another case of "Shahanigans," it's just situational football that happens from time to time. Young came into this game with two carries on the entire season.

Redskins re-signed restricted free agent FB Darrel Young to a three-year, $6.2 million contract.

Young and the Redskins had been in discussions for the past couple of weeks. Young, the converted college linebacker, paved the way for Alfred Morris' impressive rookie season. He was a top-five lead blocker, per Pro Football Focus.

The Redskins have reportedly discussed a long-term deal with restricted free agent FB Darrel Young.

Young paved the way for Alfred Morris' eye-opening rookie season, appearing in all 16 games as a true lead-blocker. There's no urgency on deal because the Redskins can likely retain Young via a $1.323 right-of-first-refusal tender.

Redskins FB Darrel Young (hamstring) resumed practicing on Tuesday.

The lead-blocker in coach Mike Shanahan's zone-blocking scheme is expected to make his preseason debut on Saturday. Young's return will lead to fewer snaps for Chris Cooley, who had been moonlighting at fullback of late.
