Chiefs signed RB/KR Joe McKnight, S Jerron McMillian, OT R.J. Dill and DE Brandon Moore to reserve/future contracts.
McKnight spent 2013 on the street after getting cut loose by the Jets in August. McKnight could get a shot to crack the 53-man roster as a return specialist if the Chiefs fail to re-sign Dexter McCluster. A 2012 fourth-round pick, McMillian was waived by the Packers in early December. He'll fight for a spot on special teams. Jan 11 - 5:28 PM

Date:

A warrant has been issued for free agent Joe McKnight's arrest after he failed to appear in court on Monday.

The court date was related to outstanding traffic charges. The whole situation could have been avoided with just a little common sense. McKnight worked out for the Packers in late August and Giants last week, but has otherwise received no interest since being cut loose by the Jets.

Free agent RB/KR Joe McKnight will work out for the Giants Tuesday.

It's an open casting call in New York after Sunday night's debacle. McKnight, Brandon Jacobs and Willis McGahee are among the unwanted veterans that will be competing for work. McKnight is by far the youngest at age 25, but he's never recorded more than 43 carries in a season. He was a first-team All-Pro kick returner for the Jets in 2011.

Jets waived RB Joe McKnight.

McKnight entered the summer firmly on the roster bubble, but seemed to be saved by Chris Ivory's injury woes and Mike Goodson's legal troubles. That was not the case, as McKnight barely practiced in camp thanks to injury issues of his own, including a concussion and migraines. McKnight is a solid kick returner, but rushed the ball just 112 times in three years in New York, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. He's had durability issues. His special-teams prowess should land him a new job in relatively short order.

Joe McKnight admits he was dealing with a concussion earlier in camp, even though the Jets said he wasn't.

Shameful. McKnight had trouble even standing on the practice field last week, but the Jets kept insisting he was dealing with a "head" injury, suggesting a migraine. The degree to which teams continue to try to mask concussions is alarming. As for McKnight, he's apparently healthy now, and will be active for Saturday's regular season dress rehearsal against the Giants.

Jets RB Joe McKnight is sidelined again with a "head" injury.

McKnight is almost certainly concussed, but has dealt with migraines in the past. McKnight was wobbly on the practice field Monday, and had trouble even standing. The Jets would be deserving of a massive fine if McKnight was concussed. For now, he should be considered week to week. McKnight is wounding his roster chances.

Jets RB Joe McKnight (concussion) has resumed practicing.

The Jets never admitted that McKnight was concussed, but all signs suggested he was. He'll make his preseason debut Saturday against the Jaguars.

Jets RB Joe McKnight was arrested in New Jersey last week for outstanding warrants after police pulled him over for speeding and changing lanes without signaling.

McKnight was arrested on July 30, on a Jets day off from camp. Police found he had blown off a $200 ticket for failing to produce an insurance card, and another $120 fine for failing to observe a traffic signal. Apparently, McKnight obeys traffic law about as well as he plays running back. He suffered a concussion at Friday's practice, and has not participated in training camp since.

Jets RB Joe McKnight is sidelined by an "apparent concussion" in camp.

McKnight might be more on the roster bubble were Chris Ivory healthy and Mike Goodson in camp. Instead, Ivory is injured and Goodson has yet to report, leaving Bilal Powell to work as the starter. McKnight could still wind up losing his roster spot, but for now he's hanging on and should make it to final cuts.

Jets activated RB/KR Joe McKnight from the active/PUP list.

McKnight failed his pre-training camp conditioning test, but was cleared to practice Friday. Entering a contract year, he's competing for a roster spot behind Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell and Mike Goodson.

Jets placed RB/KR Joe McKnight on the active/PUP list.

He flunked his conditioning test on the first day of camp. McKnight's contract year is already off to a bad start with his roster spot hanging by a thread behind Chris Ivory, Mike Goodson, and Bilal Powell on the Jets' depth chart.

Jets RB/KR Joe McKnight is certain he'll make the final roster.

"They're going to have to kill me to take my spot," he said. "So, whoever they bring in, I don't care. I'm just going to make it a point to prove I'm going to be here." McKnight is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and he says new OC Marty Mornhinweg has been working him in the slot. The 25-year-old averages 4.5 YPC on 112 career totes, but has never been a legit offensive threat.

Joe McKnight considers himself a legitimate contender for the Jets' starting running back job, and vows to be "a lot better" in 2013.

"I made that promise to myself," he said. "If not, I’m going to die trying. I’m nowhere near close to where I want to go." McKnight also claims he never had a single conversation with former OC Tony Sparano, but that he "loves" new OC Marty Mornhinweg. McKnight's fire is admirable, but he'll remain a gadget player/special teamer. Chris Ivory is the favorite for No. 1 duties in New York.

Jets RB Joe McKnight rushed once for two yards in the team's Week 17 loss to Buffalo.

McKnight gained 179 yards on 30 carries (5.97 YPC) this season, but was curiously underutilized as a change-of-pace back behind plodders Shonn Greene and Bilal Powell. McKnight, also the Jets' primary kickoff returner, is still just 24 years old and due an affordable $575,000 in 2013. While he's almost certainly not the answer for the Jets' feature back woes, McKnight deserves a longer look in a complementary role from New York's next offensive staff.

Joe McKnight (ankle, illness) was downgraded to "DNP" in practice on Thursday.

McKnight was listed as a "full" participant on Wednesday with an ankle issue, so he was likely sent home sick on Thursday. He should be fine for Week 17 against the Bills as the Jets' No. 3 running back and kick returner.
