The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey is getting a second opinion on his broken fibula.
There's been differing reports on whether Pouncey has had a second operation, but it would appear it's at least a possibility. Sidelined until at least Week 12, it's looking less and less likely that Pouncey returns this season. Oct 20 - 7:29 PM

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said C Maurkice Pouncey (leg/ankle, I.R./return) did not undergo a second surgery.

NFL Network's Rand Getlin reported last week Pouncey was "experiencing complications" and would need a second operation. Tomlin said he is confident Pouncey will be able to return this season, but admitted he has not received a full evaluation from his doctors yet. Pouncey was not expected back until at least Week 12 even before the reported setback.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette expects Steelers C Mike Pouncey (leg/ankle, I.R./return) to miss the rest of the season.

Pouncey was already recovering from leg surgery, but had to undergo a second operation to clear out an infection. Even before going back under the knife, Pouncey wasn't expected back before Week 12. It's a major issue for the Steelers, as Cody Wallace has been a liability in Pouncey's absence. Pouncey missed 15 games in 2013, but started all 16 in 2014.
Oct 15 - 3:28 PM

NFL Network's Rand Getlin reports Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey (leg/ankle) requires another operation.

Per Getlin, Pouncey is "experiencing complications." Pouncey was sent to I.R./return after undergoing leg/ankle surgery in late August. He fractured his left fibula in Pittsburgh's third preseason game. Pouncey wasn't expected back before Week 12, but it's possible he ends up missing the entire season. Cody Wallace, who has been a liability, is manning the pivot in Pouncey's absence.
Oct 15 - 1:17 PM

Steelers placed C Maurkice Pouncey on injured reserve-designated for return.

Technically, the move makes Pouncey eligible to return in Week 9. Reports have indicated Pouncey is more likely to return around Week 12, however, after he fractured his left ankle and fibula in the preseason. The Steelers still return four of their five offensive line starters from last season, but have been forced to turn to liability Cody Wallace at center.
Sep 6 - 4:51 PM

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey's fractured left fibula/ankle is expected to sideline him until Week 12.

He'll miss the first eight games on I.R./return, then is expected to miss two more weeks rehabbing and conditioning. The Steelers' bye falls in Week 11, and the early expectation is Pouncey will be available in Week 12. Pittsburgh remains strong at guard and tackle, but will ask a lot of Cody Wallace to replace Pouncey at the pivot. 26-year-old Wallace has made six spot starts the past two seasons, earning positive PFF grades in 2013 but floundering mightily last year.
Aug 28 - 1:51 PM

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said C Maurkice Pouncey (broken fibula) has a chance to return this year.

Pouncey will likely be placed on injured reserve/designated to return, meaning he will miss at least the first half of the season. How his leg heals after surgery will determine if he can make it back at all. Cody Wallace will start at center with Pouncey sidelined.
Aug 27 - 1:04 PM

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey's specific injury is a fractured left fibula above his ankle.

It's the same injury that cost Danny Woodhead almost all of the 2014 season. Pouncey's surgery is expected to involve doctors inserting a metal plate into his leg, shelving him for at least the next two months.
Aug 23 - 7:51 PM

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey is expected to miss half of the 2015 season after fracturing his ankle in Sunday's preseason game.

This makes Pouncey a candidate for injured reserve/designated for return. Pouncey broke his left ankle in Sunday's exhibition game against the Packers. The Steelers will turn to journeyman Cody Wallace at center in the meantime. Pouncey is not one of the best centers in the league, but he's an above-average starter and the pivot for an offensive line that returned all five components from last season. Pouncey's loss is a concern for Pittsburgh's run-game efficiency.
Aug 23 - 5:15 PM

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin confirmed C Maurkice Pouncey will require surgery on his injured ankle.

Tomlin did not give a timetable for his return, but reports suggest Pouncey has a broken ankle. The injury should keep Pouncey out at least the first half of the season, and there is a possibility he misses the entire year. The Steelers could opt to put Pouncey on IR/recall, which would prevent him from playing until Week 9. Pouncey was rolled up on from behind by Packers S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix late in the first quarter of the Steelers' third preseason game. He was spotted on crutches with his leg in a soft cast in the locker room. Cody Wallace replaced Pouncey after he went down.
Aug 23 - 4:46 PM

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey exited the Steelers' third preseason game with a left ankle injury.

He was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game. Pouncey was rolled up on from behind by Ha Ha Clinton-Dix at the end of a run play late in the first quarter. He limped to a sideline training table on his own, but he was carted into the locker room. Cody Wallace replaced Pouncey at center.
Aug 23 - 1:50 PM

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey has restructured his contract.

Pouncey was due $8.1 million, including a $3.75 million roster bonus. The Steelers also reworked the contracts of FS Mike Mitchell and RT Marcus Gilbert, clearing a total of $9.5 million in cap space.

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey has not yet been charged with misdemeanor battery stemming from a July 12 bar brawl.

The Miami Herald reports police believe they have enough evidence to charge Mike's twin, but the State Attorney's Office "is not yet ready to pursue" charges. Mike Pouncey is not expected to be charged, but Maurkice may be. Three people are suing the Pounceys for physical violence and homophobic slurs.

The Miami Herald reports Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey will be charged with misdemeanor battery following a July 12 brawl at a South Beach nightclub.

The charge could be handed down as soon as Friday. Maurkice and twin brother Mike held their birthday party at Cameo Nightclub in Miami on July 12, and three people were left injured. One of them contends Maurkice punched him in the face, and is coming after the Steelers' All-Pro. Mike isn't facing any charges.

Steelers signed C Maurkice Pouncey to a five-year, $44 million extension through 2019.

The massive extension is tacked onto the final year of Pouncey's rookie contract, meaning he now has a six-year, $45.5 million deal. It also includes a $13 million signing bonus -- more than the signing bonus Colin Kaepernick got last week. The Steelers obviously have no concerns about Pouncey's rehab from last year's torn ACL and MCL, as he's now the highest paid center in the NFL, eclipsing Alex Mack. Pouncey is just 24 and was a Pro Bowler in his first three NFL seasons, but has never been higher than 12th in PFF's center grades.
