Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey (thumb surgery) said he will definitely play this week against the Cowboys.

Pouncey said he will not have any issues snapping, which would be one of the primary concerns after he underwent thumb surgery earlier this week. Pouncey does not expect to practice until Friday.
Nov 10 - 12:48 PM

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said C Maurkice Pouncey underwent surgery on his dislocated thumb but hasn't been ruled out for Week 10 against the Cowboys.

The Steelers will take it day by day with Pouncey, though he isn't expected to practice on Wednesday. Tomlin said he doesn't envision the thumb issue affecting Pouncey's ability to snap the football. B.J. Finney is Pouncey's backup at center.

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey suffered a thumb injury in Sunday's game against the Ravens.

The injury is to Pouncey's snapping thumb. He played through the issue for nearly a half before re-injuring it. B.J. Finney will finish the game at center.

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey is taking reps at right tackle this week.

With Marcus Gilbert (ankle) and Ryan Harris (shin) sidelined, the Steelers may need to move Pouncey to tackle against the Jets. Pouncey has played his entire career on the interior, but he is big (6'5/304) and athletic enough to hold up outside. Chris Hubbard is the Steelers' only other option to replace Gilbert.

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey has revealed he underwent seven surgeries following last year's leg break.

Pouncey underwent "six surgical procedures and a skin graft" following his preseason injury, enduring a number of infections. The harrowing experience cost Pouncey all 16 games, but he's amazingly all the way back to 100 percent health, and refusing to take days off in the Steelers' offseason program. It's a reminder of the awful rigors football players put their bodies through.

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey (leg surgeries) has been a full participant in OTAs, and says he is 100 percent healthy.

"I’m 26 years old, man," Pouncey said. "I’m doing everything. I don’t need time off. I’m (ticked) off I missed a lot. I’m ready to go." Pouncey bookended a 16-start 2014 with missing all of 2015 and appearing in only one game in 2013. He was one of the league's best centers in 2014.

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey (broken ankle) was present for the start of OTAs on Monday.

We doubt Pouncey will be a full participant, but he's on track with his rehab. Pouncey will be ready to rock for training camp after missing all of 2015.
Apr 18 - 3:30 PM

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said C Maurkice Pouncey (broken leg) might not be ready for OTAs.

Pouncey's recovery from the broken fibula and subsequent infection he suffered last season is going well, but Tomlin plans to take it slow. "What he's capable of doing and what I allow him to do may be two different things," Tomlin said. "I haven't had those discussions or thoughts at this juncture." Pouncey should be 100 percent before training camp.

The Steelers have yet to formally rule C Maurkice Pouncey (broken leg, I.R./return) out for the season.

Coach Mike Tomlin has offered next to no details about Pouncey's progress, but perhaps he could return for a playoff run. Cody Wallace has struggled mightily in Pouncey's absence.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey is getting a second opinion on his broken fibula.

There's been differing reports on whether Pouncey has had a second operation, but it would appear it's at least a possibility. Sidelined until at least Week 12, it's looking less and less likely that Pouncey returns this season.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said C Maurkice Pouncey (leg/ankle, I.R./return) did not undergo a second surgery.

NFL Network's Rand Getlin reported last week Pouncey was "experiencing complications" and would need a second operation. Tomlin said he is confident Pouncey will be able to return this season, but admitted he has not received a full evaluation from his doctors yet. Pouncey was not expected back until at least Week 12 even before the reported setback.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette expects Steelers C Mike Pouncey (leg/ankle, I.R./return) to miss the rest of the season.

Pouncey was already recovering from leg surgery, but had to undergo a second operation to clear out an infection. Even before going back under the knife, Pouncey wasn't expected back before Week 12. It's a major issue for the Steelers, as Cody Wallace has been a liability in Pouncey's absence. Pouncey missed 15 games in 2013, but started all 16 in 2014.
Thu, Oct 15, 2015 03:28:00 PM

NFL Network's Rand Getlin reports Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey (leg/ankle) requires another operation.

Per Getlin, Pouncey is "experiencing complications." Pouncey was sent to I.R./return after undergoing leg/ankle surgery in late August. He fractured his left fibula in Pittsburgh's third preseason game. Pouncey wasn't expected back before Week 12, but it's possible he ends up missing the entire season. Cody Wallace, who has been a liability, is manning the pivot in Pouncey's absence.
Thu, Oct 15, 2015 01:17:00 PM

Steelers placed C Maurkice Pouncey on injured reserve-designated for return.

Technically, the move makes Pouncey eligible to return in Week 9. Reports have indicated Pouncey is more likely to return around Week 12, however, after he fractured his left ankle and fibula in the preseason. The Steelers still return four of their five offensive line starters from last season, but have been forced to turn to liability Cody Wallace at center.
