Burnett has started all 36 games he's appeared in since being a third-round pick out of Georgia Tech in 2010. In 2012, he set a career-high with 123 tackles to lead the team. Burnett doesn't bring a whole lot to the table in run support, but he's above-average in coverage. He's entering the final year of his deal and is an extension candidate.

He can cover the field." McCarthy notes that Burnett is "stepping to the forefront" as a player who will be talked about "throughout the league."

The Packers are easing second-year SS Morgan Burnett into camp after his rookie season ended with a torn left ACL.

The best news is that Burnett is practicing at all after reconstructive knee surgery. The Packers remain high on Burnett long term, but he's no lock to earn back his starting job before Week 1. Charlie Peprah is the interim starter.

Despite his rookie year-ending torn left ACL, Packers coaches believe Morgan Burnett can be a "fixture at safety for years to come."

The staff "loves him," according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, and Burnett is the favorite to regain his starting strong safety job in 2011. A third-round pick in 2010, Burnett had one pick and 14 tackles before his Week 4 injury.

Packers placed SS Morgan Burnett (torn ACL) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Just like that, Atari Bigby is back in good graces. Bigby should move right into the starting lineup once he's eligible to return from the PUP list in Week 7. Burnett may be penciled in as the starter in 2011, but he'll have competition.

Packers SS Morgan Burnett is out for the season with a torn left ACL.

It's a big blow to the Packers, as safety is one of their thinnest positions. Burnett had started all four games, picking up 14 tackles and an interception. Derrick Martin, primarily a special teamer, will be first up to replace Burnett unless Charlie Peprah (quad) is healthy. It's also possible that corners Jarrett Bush or even Charles Woodson could be moved to safety. The Packers do have Atari Bigby (hamstring) eligible to come off PUP in Week 7.

The Packers are initially calling rookie SS Morgan Burnett's knee injury a "sprain."

It's routine for teams to call knee injuries sprains prior to MRIs, which can reveal ligament damage. Burnett's injury is not believed to be that serious, however, as he was walking without assistance after Sunday's win.

Packers SS Morgan Burnett left Sunday's game in the second quarter with a knee injury.

He's having X-rays and is considered questionable to return. The Packers deactivated third safety Charlie Peprah, so special teamer Derrick Martin is in at strong safety. This could be good news for Calvin Johnson's second half. Johnson already has a game-high four catches for 51 yards and a touchdown.

Packers coaches are looking for SS Morgan Burnett to show more aggressiveness.

Burnett missed a tackle on Eagles RB LeSean McCoy's 12-yard touchdown run, and reportedly "didn't attack the man with the ball." Burnett was drafted out of Georgia Tech to come in and be a playmaker, and look for Burnett to have ample opportunities to flash his ability Sunday against the Bills.

According to Packers coach Mike McCarthy, rookie SS Morgan Burnett "has incredible range."

Some scouts questioned Burnett's hip fluidity coming out of Georgia Tech, but he's fared just fine in coverage on the practice field. Burnett has taken every first-team strong safety rep since April 30 and is a fantastic Dynasty IDP.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel confirms that rookie Morgan Burnett is now "in the driver's seat" to be Green Bay's starting strong safety.

Atari Bigby's lingering ankle injury firmed up Burnett's spot atop the depth chart. Burnett had a terrific spring, so it's possible he would've won the job anyway. The third-round pick is a good target in dynasty IDP leagues.

Packers agreed to terms with third-round SS Morgan Burnett on a four-year contract.

Yet another big-time playmaking defensive back added to Green Bay's uber-talented secondary, Burnett was a ballhawk throughout his three-year career at Georgia Tech. He took all of the first-team reps at strong safety during OTAs, and has a good shot to beat out Atari Bigby for the starting job.

Packers third-round rookie Morgan Burnett has taken all the snaps with the starting defense during OTAs.

Unsigned restricted free agent Atari Bigby has sat out the entire offseason program, giving Burnett the chance to impress. Even after Bigby signs his tender and gets into camp, Burnett has a very good chance to unseat the incumbent.
