Packers coach Mike McCarthy said SS Morgan Burnett tweaked his calf injury in Friday's practice.

Burnett will test out the injury on Saturday. Burnett was able to play last week against the Seahawks, but a setback this late in the week puts his availability in serious doubt.

Packers SS Morgan Burnett (calf) was upgraded to probable for Week 2.

He almost certainly will play. After getting shredded by Matt Forte last week, Burnett will at least give the Packers' defense a better shot at stopping Marshawn Lynch Sunday night.

Packers SS Morgan Burnett (calf) got in a limited practice on Wednesday.

The Packers' run defense was gashed by Matt Forte with Burnett inactive Week 1. If they have any chance of stopping Marshawn Lynch this week, Burnett needs to be active.

Packers SS Morgan Burnett (calf) is inactive for Week 1 against the Bears.

He was listed as questionable after missing practice all week. Look for Sean Richardson to get the start next to FS Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Also inactive for the Packers are QB Brett Hundley, CB LaDarius Gunter, RB Alonzo Harris, LB Andy Mulumba, OG Lane Taylor, and TE Kennard Backman.

Packers SS Morgan Burnett (calf) was listed as questionable after not practicing this week.

He is unlikely to play. Special teams ace Sean Richardson is expected to get the start in Burnett's place. It is an upgrade for Matt Forte; Burnett is primarily a run-support safety with Ha Ha Clinton-Dix manning center field.

Coach Mike McCarthy said, "We'll see," when asked about SS Morgan Burnett's (calf) status for Week 1.

Burnett did not practice on Wednesday. Missing another practice Thursday would be cause for concern.

Packers SS Morgan Burnett had a major bounce-back season in 2014, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 safety in run defense.

Morgan was freed up to play close to the line of scrimmage due to the terrific center-field play of rookie FS Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who allowed a 53.3 QB rating on throws into his coverage. Burnett's 2013 season warned he was a player with an arrow pointing down. His 2014 confirmed otherwise. Still only 26 years old, Burnett is a long-term building block for Green Bay's defense.

Packers S Morgan Burnett (calf) has been downgraded to questionable for Sunday night's Week 10 game against the Bears.

Burnett was expected to play this week, but suffered a setback and should now be considered unlikely to return. Micah Hyde will continue to start opposite rookie Ha Ha Clinton-Dix if Burnett is held out.

Packers SS Morgan Burnett is questionable for Week 8 with a calf injury.

He did not practice all week, but coach Mike McCarthy said Burnett was improving and would be given every chance to play. Micah Hyde and rookie Ha Ha Clinton-Dix would draw the starts at safety if Burnett cannot go. Sean Richardson would also see an expanded role.

Packers SS Morgan Burnett is dealing with a strained oblique, and will miss Saturday's preseason opener against the Titans.

He's week to week. It's noteworthy because Burnett wasn't the same after suffering a hamstring injury last season, getting tattooed for a 135.8 QB rating against. His starting job should be secure to begin the season, but the Packers have second-year DB Micah Hyde as a potential fallback.

Opposing quarterbacks had a passer rating of 135.8 when throwing into Morgan Burnett's coverage in 2013.

Burnett missed the first month of the season with a hamstring injury and never seemed to get on track. Of the 42 targets thrown into his coverage, four went for touchdowns. Burnett yielded just two scores in 57 targets in 2012. With a healthy offseason under his belt, we expect to see Burnett rebound this season.

Packers FS Morgan Burnett (hamstring) has resumed practicing.

Arguably Green Bay's best defensive back, Burnett is on track to make his season debut in Week 5 against the Lions. He's a plug-and-play IDP starter.

Packers declared FS Morgan Burnett (hamstring) inactive for Sunday's Week 1 game against the 49ers.

It's another boost for Colin Kaepernick and the Niners passing game. The Packers will be without both Burnett and slot corner Casey Hayward (hamstring). The rest of their inactives: LB Nate Palmer, LB Sam Barrington, G Lane Taylor, TE Brandon Bostick and DE Josh Boyd.

Packers signed FS Morgan Burnett to a four-year, $24.75 million extension through 2017.

The deal includes $8.25 million guaranteed. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported late last week that the two sides were talking, so this news doesn't come as a huge surprise. Burnett turned 24 in January and was entering the final year of his rookie deal. Because Burnett was previously under contract for 2013 at $1.323 million, the new deal is essentially worth $26.073 million over five seasons, putting Burnett just outside the top-ten highest paid safeties. He racked up a career-high 123 tackles in 2012, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 16 overall safety.
