Cowboys MLB Rolando McClain (right knee) is expected to be "fine" for Week 10.

McClain was in distress after getting rolled up late in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, but it was apparently just a scare. McClain has racked up all manner of nicks and bruises this season, but has yet to miss a game.

Cowboys MLB Rolando McClain (groin) is active for Sunday's Week 6 game at Seattle.

McClain is the Cowboys' best run defender, but Marshawn Lynch still projects to absolutely shred in this matchup. The Cowboys inactives: QB Dustin Vaughan, S Jakar Hamilton, SLB Bruce Carter, DE Jack Crawford, DT Davon Coleman, DT Ken Bishop and OT Donald Hawkins.

Cowboys MLB Rolando McClain (groin) is expected to play Week 6 against the Seahawks.

McClain has been on and off the shelf with the groin issue since originally hurting it in Week 2. He's the Cowboys' best run defender, and they're going to need him to help stop Marshawn Lynch. SLB Bruce Carter (groin) is likely to sit.

Cowboys MLB Rolando McClain was forced from Dallas' Week 5 game against the Texans with a left-groin injury.

It's an aggravation of McClain's previous groin issue. McClain went down late in the fourth quarter, slamming his helmet on the sideline in frustration after asking out of the game. The good news is, he's considered day to day.
Oct 5 - 4:08 PM

Cowboys MLB Rolando McClain (groin) is active for Sunday night's Week 4 game against the Saints.

McClain was able to practice on a limited basis Friday and will return after missing last week's game. It's an upgrade for the Cowboys' run defense. Inactive for Dallas are QB Dustin Vaughan, DB Tyler Patmon, LB Korey Toomer, DT Davon Coleman, DE Lavar Edwards, DT Terrell McClain, and OT Donald Hawkins.

Cowboys MLB Rolando McClain (groin) is listed as doubtful for Week 3.

Dallas is allowing well over 5.0 YPC to enemy tailbacks through two games, but McClain has played stout run defense. This is a bump for Zac Stacy.

Speaking Monday, Cowboys SLB Bruce Carter said Justin Durant will man the weak-side, and that Rolando McClain will start in the middle.

That may be the Cowboys' starting trio, but Durant is expected to be the only every-down player. Fourth-rounder Anthony Hitchens should mix in with McClain, who hasn't started a game since November 2012. The Cowboys are using duct tape and glue as they attempt to assemble their 2014 defense.

The Cowboys will begin giving first-team reps to Rolando McClain at middle linebacker.

The 'Boys want to use Justin Durant at weak-side linebacker, so they're heaving a hail mary as they desperately attempt to replace Sean Lee. Twice "retired," McClain hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since November 2012. The Cowboys are in danger of fielding an(other) historically-bad defense this season.

Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones believes ILB Rolando McClain has been "really impressive."

"He’s a different cat out there," Jones gushed. "He’s got the right attitude. I hope his improvement progresses so that we can get him into some games." Despite the praise, Jones admitted that McClain is not yet in football shape, and likely won't be ready for the Cowboys' second preseason game. ESPN Dallas' Todd Archer believes the Cowboys want McClain to win their middle-linebacker job. It speaks to the Cowboys' almost unfathomable lack of defensive depth that a player who's made 11 appearances since the end of the 2011 season could be the one picking up the slack for injured captain Sean Lee.

Cowboys LB Rolando McClain was convicted Friday on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in Decatur (AL).

McClain has been arrested in his hometown of Decatur three times since 2011. The Cowboys traded for him in early July, but he's squarely on the roster bubble.

Cowboys LB Rolando McClain's trial for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct will begin Friday in Decatur, Ala.

McClain's attorney had attempted to have the proceedings delayed so McClain wouldn't have to miss time in training camp, but the judge refused. The case has already been delayed three times. Even with the Cowboys' defense in utter disarray, McClain is a long shot to crack the 53-man roster.
Jul 22 - 6:00 PM

ESPN Dallas' Todd Archer hinted LB Rolando McClain is not a lock to make the Cowboys' 53-man roster.

Acquired for basically a stick of gum and a thank you card, the Cowboys would feel little pain cutting McClain, though that is obviously not their best-case scenario. The No. 8 pick in the 2010 draft, McClain has the pedigree and talent to make a difference on a Dallas defense in desperate need of help. He will need a serious -- and unlikely -- change in attitude and work ethic to make it happen.

The draft pick the Ravens acquired for ILB Rolando McClain will escalate from a seventh- to sixth-round selection in 2015 if McClain plays 50 percent or more of the Cowboys' 2014 defensive snaps.

Baltimore would also send Dallas its 2015 seventh-round pick. If McClain spends five games on the Cowboys' 53-man roster this season, the sides will swap 2016 (not 2015) seventh-rounders. If the Ravens finish with a worse 2014 record, "then there is no swap." In other words, Dallas didn't give up much. Baltimore will hope McClain plays a lot this year, and that the Cowboys are bad. (Those latter two possibilities could very conceivably go hand in hand.)

Rolando McClain's agent says his client is "as excited about football as I've ever heard him."

At this point, we'll believe it when we see it. Since entering the NFL in 2010, McClain has retired twice, been arrested three times and showed up to a Ravens workout earlier this offseason late and out of shape. Former NFL player turned consultant Chuck Smith said McClain had the "worst attitude of any player I ever met while consulting."
