Cardinals LG Mike Iupati (knee) will start in Week 4.
It's an upgrade to Chris Johnson's fantasy outlook against a sub-par Rams run defense. Iupati is a road-grading run blocker, albeit sometimes a liability in pass protection. He missed the first three weeks with a torn meniscus. Oct 2 - 3:43 PM

Cardinals LG Mike Iupati (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday.

Coach Bruce Arians said Iupati looked "a lot stronger" this week. Iupati was expected to play last week, but he dealt with soreness in his surgically-repaired knee after going through a week of limited work and was declared inactive. How his knee responds this week will determine his availability.

Cardinals LG Mike Iupati (knee) is questionable for Week 3 against the 49ers.

Iupati is a game-time decision, but is expected to play. He's missed just over a month recovering from a knee scope. Iupati's return would be a run-blocking upgrade for Chris and David Johnson.
Sep 26 - 3:48 PM

Cardinals LG Mike Iupati (knee) is expected to make his season debut Week 3.

Iupati underwent a knee scope and meniscus repair in mid-August. He practiced on a limited basis last week and will likely take his post at left guard against his former team, the 49ers, next Sunday. The Cardinals gave Iupati $22.5 million guaranteed in March. He should be a big help to the running game.
Sep 21 - 6:36 PM

Cardinals LG Mike Iupati (meniscus) got in a limited practice Wednesday.

Iupati is unlikely to play this week, but a return Week 3 against the 49ers is a possibility. Iupati was drafted by the 49ers in 2010 and played his first five seasons in San Francisco. The Cardinals' offensive line held up well without Iupati against the Saints' impotent pass rush, and they should do the same this week against the Bears.

Sep 17 - 8:43 AM

Cardinals LG Mike Iupati (meniscus) didn't suit up for Tuesday's practice.

Just a few weeks removed from a torn meniscus, Iupati is an extreme long shot to play in Sunday's season opener against the Saints. He was given a 6-to-8 week timetable after his surgery. If that holds up, we should see Iupati back in uniform sometime in early October.
Sep 8 - 2:19 PM

Cardinals LG Mike Iupati's knee surgery was to repair a torn left meniscus.

Coach Bruce Arians puts Iupati's timeline at 3-8 weeks, which is slightly better than the originally announced 6-8 weeks. Iupati is an extreme long-shot for the Cardinals' Sept. 13 opener, and could miss the entire first month of the season. Ted Larsen will start in the interim.
Aug 20 - 2:04 PM

Cardinals LG Mike Iupati will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this week.

Iupati will be sidelined 6-8 weeks. It's another blow to an offensive line that will be without RT Bobby Massie for the first three games, and recently was forced to re-sign liability C Lyle Sendlein due to interior line woes. The Cardinals will turn back to Ted Larsen as Iupati's replacement. Arizona's offensive line play is a major trouble spot going into the season.
Aug 19 - 6:24 PM

Cardinals LG Mike Iupati was sent for an MRI on his knee.

Coach Bruce Arians didn't seem overly concerned; he only said Iupati was dealing with some swelling in his knee. The Cardinals can't afford to lose Iupati with center, right guard, and right tackle all looking like trouble spots on the line.
Aug 19 - 3:14 PM

Cardinals signed OG Mike Iupati, formerly of the 49ers, to a five-year, $40 million contract.

The deal is worth "up to" $41 million, and includes $22.5 million guaranteed. It's a coup for the Cardinals, who have long had issues at guard, and struggled to clear anything resembling lanes in the running game. Iupati is one of the league's premier run blockers. He played left guard in San Francisco, and should do the same in Arizona. That means Jonathan Cooper will be shifted to the right side, center or possibly even bench.
Mar 10 - 4:23 PM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent OG Mike Iupati intends to sign with the Cardinals.

It would be a coup for the Cardinals, as Iupati is one of the league's very best guards, and the Cards have had an atrocious run-blocking line for years. Iupati is Rotoworld's top-rated interior lineman on the open market. He's also drawn interest from the Jets, Bills, 49ers, Vikings and Raiders. He's reportedly seeking $8.5 million per year, and if interest is as robust as the rumors suggest it is, he should get it.
Mar 9 - 6:39 PM

The New York Daily News reports the Jets are making an "aggressive push" to sign free agent OG Mike Iupati.

Per the San Francisco Chronicle, the Raiders are also "hot after" Iupati. Signing Iupati would give the Jets a left side of LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, LG Iupati, and C Nick Mangold on new OC Chan Gailey's offensive line. The Jets are likely to have suspect quarterback play in 2015, so running the football should be their calling card. Iupati is at his best when run blocking.
Mar 9 - 12:58 PM

The Raiders, 49ers, Jets, and Bills are reportedly in pursuit of free agent OG Mike Iupati.

It's interesting that the Redskins are not mentioned among Iupati's potential suitors. The Chargers have dropped out after agreeing to terms with Orlando Franklin. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora writes that he believes Iupati will not re-sign with San Francisco. The dots connect Iupati nicely to Buffalo, where OC Greg Roman knows him and the Bills need offensive line help.
Mar 8 - 11:37 PM

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Vikings have reached out to free agent LG Mike Iupati.

The Vikings are dead-set on improving their offensive line, and Iupati is the biggest name available. He's reportedly seeking $8-9 million per year. Minnesota released LG Charles Johnson earlier this offseason and have no in-house replacement. Iupati could help stabilize to-date first-round bust LT Matt Kalil.
Mar 8 - 1:44 PM

Free agent OG Mike Iupati is reportedly seeking $8.5 million per year.

The Chargers and Redskins have been the two most-connected teams to Iupati. The 49ers want him back, but reportedly not at his current asking price. Not yet 28 years old, Iupati is the top offensive lineman left on the market.
