Bucs signed DE George Selvie, formerly of the Jaguars.
Most recently of the Jaguars, 26-year-old Selvie has bounced around the league and amassed three career sacks across 36 games. The Bucs need pass-rush help at defensive end, but there's little reason to believe Selvie provides it. Apr 2 - 2:52 PM

The Tampa Bay Times reports the Bucs are expected to sign free agent DE George Selvie on Tuesday.

Selvie, a 26-year-old former seventh-round pick out of South Florida, has three career sacks across three seasons. He'd compete for a roster spot in Tampa.

Jaguars DE George Selvie has been diagnosed with a concussion.

Selvie is week-to-week. The situational pass rusher has 11 tackles and one sack in seven games this season.

Jaguars DE George Selvie will be sidelined 2-3 weeks with a sprained knee.

A reserve who appeared in 11 games between the Jags and Panthers last season, Selvie could be a candidate for injured reserve despite the favorable timeline. He had two tackles in the Jaguars' first two preseason games.

Jaguars signed DE George Selvie.

The Jags lost three players to injured reserve Monday, opening up some roster spots. Selvie is a 2010 seventh-rounder that played with Jason Pierre-Paul at South Florida. He's been out of the league since the Panthers gave up on him in early October.

Panthers waived DE George Selvie.

Selvie goes to make room for Antwan Applewhite, an obvious Ron Rivera move. Selvie had two tackles and no sacks in a limited role so far this season.

Panthers claimed DE George Selvie off waivers from the Rams.

GM Marty Hurney has been a busy man, already claiming three players off waivers. A 2010 seventh-rounder out of South Florida, Selvie played all 16 games last year with 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Carolina will try to develop him as a situational pass rusher.

Rams waived DE George Selvie.

Selvie was considered a potential first-round pick early in his South Florida career, only to get lost behind Jason Pierre-Paul by his senior season. He could still develop into a situational pass rusher, but is out of practice squad options after appearing in 16 games during his rookie year.

Rams DE George Selvie's pass-rush skills have reportedly been impressive during camp.

The rookie was credited with two sacks in Saturday's scrimmage. A seventh-round pick, Selvie was considered first-round material after a big 2007 season at South Florida, but his stock plummeted after back-to-back disappointing years. He's an interesting guy to watch as a potential situational rusher.

Rams signed seventh-round DE George Selvie to a four-year contract.

Considered a first-round pick after a huge 2007 season, Selvie's production dropped off precipitously the past two years due to leg injuries and double teams. If he makes the team, Selvie will likely play in a situational pass rushing role.

Rams seventh-round DE George Selvie is up to 255 pounds.

It's the heaviest he's ever been. The rookie isn't going to play every down in St. Louis, so his weight isn't a big concern. Though Selvie had 14.5 sacks as a sophomore, his production dropped dramatically in his final two years due to leg injuries. He's lost burst, and more weight is unlikely to help.

The Rams picked up South Florida DE George Selvie in the seventh round of the draft.

Selvie dominated the Big East to the tune of 14.5 sacks as a sophomore before teams began sending attention his way the past two years. At 6'3/252, he'll have to bulk up to stay at end in Steve Spagnuolo's defense. If he can put on weight without losing quickness, he's a potential steal for the Rams.

South Florida DE George Selvie ran in the low- to mid-4.9 range at the Bulls' Tuesday Pro Day.

Selvie was unofficially clocked at 4.89 and 4.77 in Indianapolis, so the times don't constitute improvement. He's emerged as a mere late-round prospect.

South Florida DE Georgie Selvie unofficially ran a 4.89 and 4.77 forty-yard dash at the Scouting Combine Monday.

Selvie measured just 6'3/252 over the weekend, so he needed more than pedestrian times to convince 3-4 teams he's capable of playing linebacker. He also dropped into coverage rarely at USF. Selvie is only a mid-round prospect.
Mon, Mar 1, 2010 12:36:00 PM

South Florida DE George Selvie saw action with the outside linebackers during Senior Bowl practices this week.

Selvie is 6'4/247, so he's likely ticketed for a standup pass-rushing role at the next level. Ex-USF coach Jim Leavitt also let his defensive ends play with their hand up on occasion. The question for Selvie will be whether he has enough "quick twitch" to excel in open space. His production slipped dramatically as a junior and senior, and he finished 2009 with just 3.5 sacks.
