Raiders agreed to terms with NT Dan Williams, formerly of the Cardinals.
Williams had a hot market as a very underrated run-stuffing nose tackle. The Raiders opted for him to clog lanes in the middle of their defense instead of Terrance Knighton. Williams, the 26th overall pick in the 2010 draft, should slide in next to DT Antonio Smith, allowing Smith to push the pocket as a pass rusher. The Raiders also signed Saints castoff MLB Curtis Lofton on Wednesday. Mar 11 - 10:42 AM

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports the Raiders are interested in free agent NT Dan Williams.

Williams would probably be a fallback option if the Raiders can't land coach Jack Del Rio favorite Terrance Knighton. Even without the Raiders, Williams is expected to have a healthy market as an above-average run-plugging nose.

The Denver Post's Troy Renck believes free agent DT Dan Williams is a good fit to replace free agent Terrance Knighton with the Broncos.

Knighton's likely exit will leave a big hole along Denver's defensive line. The Broncos will have several options in free agency and the draft to fill it, but Renck believes Williams is the "best-buy candidate." Williams graded out as a plus run stopper in 427 snaps with Arizona last season.

ESPN 980 Washington reports the Redskins are interested in free agent NT Dan Williams.

Williams, the No. 26 overall pick in the 2010 draft, played close to 500 snaps for Arizona last season, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 2 overall 3-4 nose tackle. He finished third among nose tackles in run defense. After cutting NT Barry Cofield, the Redskins are in the market for a new space-eater up front.

Cardinals NT Dan Williams (personal) will play and start Sunday's Week 5 game against the Panthers.

Williams' father was tragically killed in a car accident while driving from Memphis to New Orleans to watch his son play in Week 3. Williams understandably sat out that game and Week 4. "I'm doing a lot better," he said. "Anytime you lose a parent, it's definitely a tough loss."

Cardinals NT Dan Williams' father was killed in a car accident while driving to New Orleans to see his son play.

Williams is understandably not active Sunday in the wake of this horrific tragedy. His family lived in Memphis and often traveled to see him play for the Cardinals. Williams' mom and sister were also in the car. Their status is unknown.

Cardinals NT Dan Williams is questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints due to a personal matter.

Williams did not travel with the team and his status for Week 3 is now up in the air. If Williams can't go, the Cardinals will start Frostee Rucker at nose tackle. Second-year DT Alameda Ta’amu could also be active for the first time since being claimed on waivers.

Cardinals NT Dan Williams suffered a right ankle injury in Saturday's preseason game.

It not clear how long Williams will be sidelined, but he's managed to avoid a high-ankle sprain. David Carter and Frostee Rucker should see playing time with the first-team defense in his absence.

Cardinals NT Dan Williams suffered a sprained knee and ankle, but an MRI revealed no damage that requires surgery.

Williams will miss practices, but is expected to return in plenty of time to prepare for Week 1. David Carter has been Williams’ backup through camp, and Bruce Arians said DE/OLB Matt Shaughnessy also will practice at tackle.

Coach Bruce Arians praised NT Dan Williams for his conditioning at Cardinals minicamp last week.

Williams has dealt with weight issues since entering the league in 2010, but is reportedly at an impressive 314 pounds. With the Cardinals moving to a new system under DC Todd Bowles, he could be asked to stay on the field more in passing situations. "Lost a ton of weight, looks fantastic," Arians said. "If he wants to rush the passer, he’s got to stay down at that weight."

Cardinals NT Dan Williams checked into training camp at 314 pounds.

It's notable because Williams has struggled with weight and conditioning ever since the Cards took him 26th overall in 2010. With his broken arm healed and weight down, he has a stranglehold on the starting nose tackle gig. The Cardinals ranked 21st against the run last season.

Cardinals NT Dan Williams (arm) is expected to be at 100 percent for training camp.

Williams was outplayed by seventh-round rookie David Carter last season before breaking his arm in Week 11. The Cardinals appear confident that the 2010 first-round pick will show up to camp in shape. Set on the ends with Calais Campbell and Darnell Dockett, the Cardinals need Williams to take a third-year leap in order to reach their potential on the defensive line.

Cardinals NT Dan Williams "(appears) to be in much better shape" than he was last offseason.

Per a team source, Williams is in a "much better state, both physically and mentally." Williams has long struggled with his conditioning, but vowed to get and stay fit after last season, and has apparently stayed true to his word. He's spent the past six weeks "working regularly" with Arizona's strength-and-conditioning coach. Williams will open 2012 with a starting job.

Cardinals NT Dan Williams has remained at his playing weight of 327 this offseason.

A "daily visitor" at the Cardinals' facility as he rehabs from a broken arm, Williams has apparently finally committed to staying in shape. "I just want my coaches and teammates to trust I’ll be at the right weight," he said. Williams will be 100 percent for training camp, and should open 2012 as a starter.
