Colts signed S Colt Anderson, formerly of the Eagles.

Anderson, 28, doesn't play much defense -- he played just 38 snaps last season -- but he's a big-time special teamer. He's accumulated 25 tackles on coverage units the past three seasons. Anderson should have a good chance at a roster spot. He knows Colts GM Ryan Grigson from their time together in Philly.

27-year-old Anderson does not play on defense, but he is a plus contributor on special teams. The Eagles still need two new starting safeties.

Colt Anderson is expected start in place of FS Kurt Coleman (ribs) against the Bucs Sunday.

Anderson, a career special teams ace, gets the nod over David Sims. We'd say it's a downgrade, but Coleman has been a coverage bust waiting to happen all year long. It's a dream matchup for Josh Freeman, Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams.

Eagles S Colt Anderson (ACL surgery) was removed from the active/PUP list Friday.

Updating a previous item, the Eagles no longer expect S Colt Anderson (torn ACL) to be ready for training camp.

Anderson is just over six months removed from surgery, and coach Andy Reid insists he remains ahead of schedule in his recovery. Anderson was one of the NFL's premier special teamers before the injury.

The Eagles expect S Colt Anderson (torn ACL) and DT Mike Patterson (brain AVM) to be ready for training camp.

Neither player will participate in the Eagles' mandatory June minicamp, however. Coach Andy Reid also revealed Monday that LB Moise Fokou (ankle surgery) and C Jason Kelce (Lisfranc sprain) will be "good to go" for next month's minicamp.

Eagles S and special-teams ace Colt Anderson (torn ACL) thinks he has a chance to be ready for Week 1.

"I'm right on track to get back, but it's just a process," he said. "We'd like to get back before the season and be 100 percent by then." Anderson drew Pro Bowl hype before going down in Week 13 last season. Unless the Eagles have long-term concerns, Anderson should be kept around at his $540,000 salary.

Eagles placed S Colt Anderson on injured reserve with a torn left ACL, ending his season.

One of the Eagles' core special teamers, Anderson was considered to be playing at a Pro Bowl level before going down. Under contract for $490,000 next season, Anderson is likely to be kept around in Philly, but may begin 2012 on the PUP list. Still just 26 years old, he should be able to make close to a full recovery.

Eagles S Colt Anderson was sent to the locker room after sustaining a left knee injury early in the second quarter of Thursday's game at Seattle.

Anderson clutched his knee after taking a bad hit from behind on a punt return. He's out for the game, and the Eagles official Twitter account confirms that he's done for the year with a torn left ACL. Anderson has been the Eagles' best special teamer this season, earning praise as a possible Pro Bowler.
