Browns waived QB Jarrett Brown.
Brown performed well this preseason, completing 15-of-25 passes for 140 yards, but not enough to earn the Browns' No. 3 quarterback job. Also waived or released by the Browns were OL Dominic Alford, RB Tyler Clutts, RB Quinn Porter, LB Archie Donald, DL Brian Sanford, OL Jarrod Shaw, LB Brian Smith and WR Rod Windsor. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer's Tony Grossi is unsure if Jarrett Brown is a legitimate candidate to be the Browns' third-string quarterback.

The Browns signed Brown in January, and he'll soon be their third quarterback after Jake Delhomme is officially let go. Brown was an undrafted free agent out of West Virginia last year. It wouldn't be surprising if an undrafted free agent from this year's crop eventually takes his place on the roster.

Browns signed QB Jarrett Brown, DL Scott Paxson and CB Ramzee Robinson to reserve/future contracts.

Brown is a project that made waves at last year's Senior Bowl. He was waived by the Niners once they added Troy Smith. Robinson was Mr. Irrelevant in 2007 and has already had stints with the Lions, Eagles, Browns and Redskins.

The Giants will reportedly work out free agent QB Jarrett Brown.

The Giants won't carry more than two quarterbacks, so Brown would only be a candidate for the practice squad. The Bengals and Steelers are also showing interest. He's years away from contributing as a reliable backup.

49ers signed QB Jarrett Brown, FB Jehuu Caulcrick, LB Bruce Davis, WR Kevin Jurovich, T Matt Kopa, LB Keaton Kristick, S Chris Maragos, and DL Will Tukuafu to their practice squad.

Brown, a rookie from West Virginia, had a decent camp but will need at least a season on the practice squad to develop. Davis was a Steelers third-round pick in 2008, but he's never performed up to expectations.

49ers waived QB Jarrett Brown, DT Will Tukuafu, WR Kevin Jurovich, LB Keaton Kristick, S Chris Maragos, and WR Bobby Guillory.

Alex Boone appears to have made the 53. Brown, undrafted out of West Virginia, looked good at the Senior Bowl, but never put a hint of pressure on Nate Davis for the No. 3 QB job. (Davis, by the way, was kept on the team).

Undrafted rookie QB Jarrett Brown received zero snaps during 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 work in the 49ers' recent mandatory minicamp.

Brown was seen by many as a mid-round sleeper heading into the draft, but he has no shot to make the 49ers roster this summer. He's a good bet to spend the 2010 season on San Fran's practice squad.

49ers signed West Virginia QB Jarrett Brown.

He's another project passer to go along with Nate Davis. Brown only started for the Mountaineers as a fifth-year senior, but was expected to be drafted based on NFL-caliber arm strength and well above average athleticism. He'll have to outplay Davis in training camp to make the final roster.

West Virginia QB Jarrett Brown managed just a 15 on the Wonderlic Test at the Scouting Combine.

He's smarter than Vince Young (6) and Dan Marino (13), at least. Still, Brown has only 14 college starts on his resume, so tests like this may mean more for him than most prospects. He remains a projected middle-round pick.

West Virginia QB Jarrett Brown ran a 4.54 forty-yard dash at the Scouting Combine on Sunday.

He also had a 34.5-inch vertical and a nine-foot, six-inch broad jump. Unlike most of the 2010 quarterback field, Brown has the potential to be an effective scrambler in the NFL. He will likely be "redshirted" for his first year.
Sun, Feb 28, 2010 01:44:00 PM's Adam Caplan calls West Virginia QB Jarrett Brown "a much better prospect" than Central Michigan's Dan LeFevour.

Caplan, who saw both at last month's Senior Bowl, says the comparison is "not even close." Brown has a similar skill set to David Garrard and a far stronger arm than LeFevour. The decisive nod to Brown doesn't say much for LeFevour, a four-year starter. Brown only "developed" as a one-year starter.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, West Virginia QB Jarrett Brown has been the most impressive QB at Senior Bowl week.

His competition isn't stellar, but Brown has shown the best set of skills while drawing high marks from NFL Network's Mike Mayock and's Adam Caplan, among others. Just a one-year starter (he sat behind Pat White as a freshman, sophomore, and junior), Brown completed 63.2% of his passes in 2009 and posted an 11:9 TD-to-INT ratio in WVU's run-heavy offense.
