Falcons WLB Sean Weatherspoon (ankle) practiced on a limited basis on Friday, and appears to be on track to play in Week 12.
Weatherspoon announced earlier in the week that he'd play on Sunday, but then missed practice on Thursday with an illness. His presence in practice on Friday bodes well for his chances on playing this weekend against Tampa Bay. The Falcons' run defense could certainly use a boost. Falcons WLB Sean Weatherspoon (ankle) resumed practicing Wednesday.

It was Weatherspoon's first practice since spraining his right ankle against the Eagles in Week 8. He's expected to get a full workout in Thursday and start Sunday's game against the Bucs. Before going down, Weatherspoon racked up 52 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and two pass breakups in seven games.

Falcons WLB Sean Weatherspoon (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.

Weatherspoon sat out the Falcons' last two games, but has reportedly made progress and begun running. "He moved around. We’ll ramp that up (Thursday) and see how he feels in the morning. Then, we’ll determine what his workload will be for (Thursday)," said coach Mike Smith. Akeem Dent has recorded 16 total tackles (10 solo) in Weatherspoon's place as an every-down 'backer in the Falcons' nickel packages.

Falcons declared WLB Sean Weatherspoon, WR Kevin Cone, S Charles Mitchell, QB Dom Davis, OG Phillip Keith Manley, OT Lamar Holmes, and DT Travian Robertson inactive for Week 10 versus the Saints.

Akeem Dent played 100 percent of the snaps last week with Weatherspoon out, grading well while racking up seven tackles. Veteran Mike Peterson will start for Spoon on the weak side. DT Peria Jerry is active after an MRI on his knee revealed no ligament damage.

Falcons WLB Sean Weatherspoon (ankle) and WR Kevin Cone (groin) have been ruled out for Week 10 versus the Saints.

Coach Mike Smith said Weatherspoon is making progress this week, but he won't play on Sunday. Spoon has been of the league's premier linebackers in coverage this season. It's another advantage for Jimmy Graham in Week 10.

Weatherspoon injured his ankle late in the Falcons' Week 8 win over the Eagles and was then held out last week against the Cowboys. Atlanta didn't really miss Spoon against the putrid Dallas running game centered around Felix Jones, but they would certainly benefit from his presence against a talented Saints backfield. Mike Peterson replaced Weatherspoon in the lineup in Week 9.

The Falcons expect to have a "good idea" of whether WLB Sean Weatherspoon (ankle) will be available for Week 10 by Wednesday or Thursday.

Coach Mike Smith is "hoping" Weatherspoon will be back by the end of the week. The Falcons didn't miss 'Spoon against a Cowboys' rushing "attack" fronted by Felix Jones and Lance Dunbar, but his presence would be a major positive against the Saints' high-octane offense.

Slot WR Harry Douglas is active after missing Week 8 with an ankle injury. Mike Peterson and Akeem Dent will pick up the slack in Weatherspoon's absence. Weatherspoon is week-to-week.

Akeem Dent will be elevated to the nickel package in Weatherspoon absence while Mike Peterson takes over in the base defense. Weatherspoon is one of the premier 4-3 coverage linebackers in the game, so this represents an upgrade for Jason Witten.

A source tells ProFootballTalk.com that the sprain is believed to be minor. IDP owners will want to monitor the situation closely as Weatherspoon has 52 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and two pass breakups this season.

Weatherspoon is questionable to return on a sloppy field in Philly. He had six tackles before leaving.

Falcons WLB Sean Weatherspoon (hamstring) was limited in Friday's practice.

Weatherspoon is officially listed as questionable, but he was not held out of practice at all this week, so he's likely to play on Sunday. He had seven solo tackles and a sack in Week 1 against the Chiefs, and is a borderline LB1 if he plays this week.
