Jaguars.com expects DE John Chick (torn patella tendon) to begin the season on the reserve/PUP list.

Chick is nearly nine months removed from surgery, but isn't close to practicing. A 29-year-old former CFL standout with just 11 NFL appearances to his name, Chick could be released with an injury settlement.

Jaguars DE John Chick (torn patella tendon) is expected to be limited throughout training camp.

Chick was limited throughout the offseason program, and there's no guarantee that he will be ready for the opener. Eagles FS Nate Allen struggled mightily in his first year back from the same surgery. Veteran Mark Clayton has been limited to two games since suffering a similar injury early in the 2010 season.

Jaguars DE John Chick (knee surgery) has shed his crutches.

He is reportedly still walking with a limp, however. Chick underwent surgery in December after tearing his patella tendon in Week 13. Under contract for $465,000, Chick will have little chance of cracking the Jaguars' roster during his age-29 season if he's not 100 percent healthy for training camp.

Jaguars DE John Chick underwent surgery to repair a torn patella tendon.

Chick was placed on injured reserve two weeks ago. Already a fringe NFL talent with a non-stop motor, Chick will be hard-pressed to make the opening-day roster in 2012. There's a good chance he won't be close to 100 percent by training camp.

Jaguars placed DE John Chick (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Chick suffered a serious injury -- possibly a tear -- to his patella tendon Monday night. There's a chance that the try-hard rotational pass rusher won't be ready for training camp next summer.

The Florida Times Union hears that Jaguars DE John Chick seriously injured his patella in Monday night's loss to the Chargers.

Chick is almost certainly headed for injured reserve. The ex-CFL star has three sacks in his first 11 NFL games.

Jaguars DE John Chick left Monday's game with a serious looking knee injury and will not return.

The Jags front seven is extremely banged up with DE Matt Roth and Aaron Kampman out, and the next man up is George Selvie. Look for the Chargers to move the ball with less pressure from the Jags.

Jaguars DE John Chick has earned more playing time after a sack and a forced fumble on just 12 snaps against the Steelers last week.

The former CFL star with a non-stop motor has sacks in two straight games, finally giving Jacksonville a pass-rushing presence up front. He'll work into the mix on passing downs.

Jaguars promoted DE John Chick from the practice squad.

The Jags need all the pass rushing help they can get after recording just two sacks in the entire exhibition season. Chick will play a situational role at defensive end if he's active this week.

Colts waived DE John Chick.

The CFL's Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2009, Chick has been in Colts camp the past two summers without appearing in an NFL game.

Colts president Bill Polian suggested that DE John Chick, formerly of the Saskatchewan RoughRiders, is pushing rookie Jerry Hughes for the third edge pass rusher role.

"He’s far, far ahead experience-wise of Jerry Hughes," Polian said. "Dwight Freeney didn’t play for eight weeks in his rookie year. Bruce Smith took two years to really become a factor." Chick (6'4/250) was the CFL's Most Outstanding Defensive Player last year after tying for the league lead in sacks. "Authenticity is extremely important and I think Chick is authentic," explained coach Jim Caldwell.
