Redskins signed DL Arthur Jones, formerly of the Colts.
Jones, 31, was released by the Colts back in March after having his career derailed by injuries in Indianapolis. He appeared in just 17-of-48 games for the team after carving out a nice early career in Baltimore. In Washington, he'll help replace the snaps lost to Jonathan Allen and Matt Ioannidis' injuries. Free agent DT Arthur Jones underwent sports hernia surgery earlier this month.

Jones' run in Indy was ruined by injuries, and things have not gotten much better since he was cut in March. There is almost no chance Jones latches on with a team for training camp while he is recovering, but he could find a home once he is fully healthy. That likely will not be before Week 1.

Colts released DT Arthur Jones.

This move has been in the works seemingly forever. Signed to a "five-year, $33 million" deal in 2014, Jones appeared in just 17-of-48 games as a Colt. Chalk it up as another big whiff by ex-GM Ryan Grigson. New GM Chris Ballard is trimming the fat. Coming off a groin injury, Jones turns 31 later this year and was suspended four games in 2016 for PEDs. It's unclear how much Jones has left in the tank. The Colts save $5.15 million with the move.

Stephen Holder of The Indianapolis Star believes Colts DT Arthur Jones is "destined to be cut."

Signed to a five-year, $33-million contract in 2014, Jones has managed just 17 appearances in three seasons and has not been effective even when on the field. There is zero chance the Colts pay him $6.25 million in 2017, and it is likely they simply decide to move on.

Colts placed DT Arthur Jones (groin) on injured reserve, ending his season.

DE Kristjan Sokoli was promoted from the practice squad. Jones appeared to suffer a groin injury in practice last week and sat out the win over the Vikings. Signed to a five-year, $33-million deal in 2014, Jones has played just 17 games over three seasons in Indy both because of injury and suspension. Owed $6.25 million next season, Jones has almost certainly played his last snap with the Colts.

Colts DL Arthur Jones is inactive for Week 5.

Jones returned from suspension this week, but isn't game ready after missing the first month. The rest of the Colts inactives are WR Donte Moncrief, RB Robert Turbin, OL Le'Raven Clark, WR Devin Street, OL Jonotthan Harrison, and OL Jeremy Vujnovich.

Colts activated DL Arthur Jones from the reserve/suspended list.

Jones has been an injury-riddled disappointment since signing a five-year, $33-million deal in 2014, but his return is a boost for a run defense which desperately needs one. Even with Jones back, Jordan Howard should find plenty of success against the Colts this week.

NFL suspended Colts DL Arthur Jones four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

It is yet another setback for Jones in what has been an extremely disappointing three years in Indianapolis. Jones was limited to nine games after signing a five-year, $33-million deal in 2014, and he missed all of last season after tearing ligaments in his ankle in the preseason. With Henry Anderson (ACL) still questionable for Week 1, the Colts are extremely thin along the defensive line. That lack of depth matched with the pay cut he accepted in March should ensure Jones keeps his roster spot, but it would not be surprising if this is his last season in Indianapolis.

Colts coach Chuck Pagano "hopes" DE Arthur Jones (ankle) will be ready for training camp.

Jones is apparently still recovering surgery to repair torn ligaments in his ankle. He went under the knife early last September. A couple weeks shy of his 30th birthday, Jones has played all of nine games for the Colts since signing a "five-year, $33 million" contract in 2014. He's already agreed to a pay cut, so his roster spot should be safe.

Colts DE Arthur Jones has agreed to slash his 2016 $4.5 million base salary to $2.5 million.

He can earn back the $2 million through incentives and roster bonuses. Jones missed all of last season after tearing ligaments in his ankle during the preseason. He's been limited to nine games since joining the Colts in 2014.

The Indianapolis Star's Zak Keefer believes DE Arthur Jones will be back with the Colts.

Jones' time in Indy has been a nightmare. He has played just nine games since signing a five-year, $33 million deal prior to the 2014 season and was limited in most of those. He missed all of 2015 after tearing ligaments in his ankle in the preseason. Jones is only 29, however, and can be a rock in the running game when healthy. He will count $5.6 million against the cap in 2016.

Colts placed DE Arthur Jones (ankle) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Jones underwent surgery to repair torn ligaments in his ankle on Friday. Jones has played just nine games since signing a five-year, $33 million contract last offseason, but was a difference maker versus the run when he was in the lineup last year. The Colts will rely on rookie DL Henry Anderson to step up in Jones' place, in addition to free agent pickup Kendall Langford. Expect another year of below-average run defense from Chuck Pagano's group.

Colts DT Arthur Jones needs surgery to repair torn ligaments in his ankle and could miss the entire season.

Jones may also have joint damage. It sounds pretty serious, and Jones, at best, is expected to miss at least half the season and could even head to injured reserve. After signing Jones to a five-year, $33 million deal last offseason, the Colts have gotten little return on investment. Jones missed half of last season with ankle issues. Zach Kerr and rookie Henry Anderson will have to pick up the slack.

The Indianapolis Star reports the Colts have "discussed" placing DT Arthur Jones (ankle) on injured reserve/designated for return.

Jones injured his ankle in the Colts' third preseason game over the weekend and is seeking multiple opinions from doctors. It would be a big loss for the Colts after he missed seven games and parts of others last season with an ankle injury. Signed to a $33 million deal last offseason, Jones was expected to be the anchor of the defensive line both as a pass rusher and in run defense.

Colts DT Arthur Jones is getting a second opinion on his injured ankle.

Jones was injured in the third preseason game. X-rays came back negative, but it is not a great sign Jones is seeking a second opinion. At this point, it does not appear Jones will be ready for Week 1.
