Colts DL Arthur Jones is lining up as the starting three-technique in Indianapolis' base defense.
In the base, Jones is joined up front by NT Josh Chapman and DE Cory Redding. When the Colts go into nickel, Jones is shifting to nose tackle and is flanked by Redding and DT Ricky Jean-Francois. Jones inked a five-year, $33 million deal with the Colts and is solid both as a pass rusher and versus the run. May 30 - 9:35 AM

Colts signed DE Arthur Jones to a five-year, $33 million contract.

The Baltimore-to-Indy pipeline continues under former Ravens defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano. Jones is a pocket-pusher that will play opposite LE Cory Redding. 27-year-old Jones started in 19 games the past two seasons with the Ravens, compiling 100 tackles and 8.5 sacks. The Colts continue to spend freely to upgrade their defense. Jones lands $16 million guaranteed.

A source informs the Baltimore Sun that free agent DE Arthur Jones is expected to sign with the Colts for $6-7 million annually.

The Colts signed a similar player in DT Ricky Jean-Francois last offseason. Jones is the superior player. He can both push the pocket from the interior and plug holes against the run. Indy may still be in the market for a nose tackle. LE Cory Redding is coming off a career year for the Colts but will turn 34 this season.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Colts' interest is "very real," and the "interest is mutual."

The Colts could use a pocket-pushing end to play across from run-stuffer Ricky Jean-Francois. Jones certainly makes sense in Indy, but the Colts have a ton of competition, including from the division-rival Titans. Jones has drawn interest from both 3-4 and 4-3 teams. He's a candidate to break the bank.
Mar 10 - 3:16 PM

The National Football Post's Aaron Wilson reports the Packers are interested in free agent DE Arthur Jones.

They're also interested in Lamarr Houston, perhaps indicating GM Ted Thompson will finally emerge from his annual free-agency hibernation this year. Jones is drawing a ton of interest, also being connected to the Titans, Giants, Redskins, and Vikings. He'll probably command $7 million per year or more.

The Baltimore Sun reports free agent DE Arthur Jones has drawn interest from the Titans, Giants, Redskins, and Vikings this weekend.

A number of other teams are believed to also be in the mix for Jones, who is going to net a big payday this week. Jones' best fit is as a 3-4 end, but he should be able to push the pocket and support the run from the interior of a 4-3. He'd be a great fit in Tennessee.
Mar 9 - 12:28 PM

The Giants have expressed interest in free agent DE Arthur Jones.

The Titans, Colts, and Patriots are also considered possible suitors. Jones is best suited to play in a 3-4. The Giants and Patriots run 4-3 defenses.
Mar 8 - 8:52 PM

The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson expects free agent DE Arthur Jones to be a hot commodity in free agency.

The Titans make sense for Jones as he would be a strong fit for new DC Ray Horton's hybrid 3-4. The Colts and the Patriots could also be interested. Jones is our No. 5 free-agent defensive end and should get a hefty payday.
Mar 8 - 1:34 PM

Sources tell the Baltimore Sun that free agent DE Arthur Jones is expected to draw "heavy interest" on the open market.

Jones is coming off a breakout year, and it's believed he's already pricing himself out of the Ravens' range. Jones turns 28 in June. He's a 3-4 five-technique defensive end who's equally effective versus the run and pass.
Feb 19 - 10:31 PM

The Baltimore Sun suggests impending free agent Arthur Jones may have priced himself out of the Ravens' budget.

Jones emerged as one of the game's top 3-4 ends in 2013, recording 53 tackles, four sacks, five tackles for a loss and 15 quarterback hurries while appearing in 14 games. The scheme-versatile 27-year-old is going to find a strong market come March and the Ravens are tight against the cap as usual. Jones has outplayed fellow 3-4 end Ricky Jean-Francois, who landed a $22 million deal from the Colts a year ago.
Jan 1 - 10:37 AM

Ex-NFL agent Joel Corry, who now writes for the National Football Post, "could definitely see" Ravens free-agent-to-be DL Arthur Jones "getting a nice payday."

Jones, 27, emerged onto the scene last season, and he's followed it up with a fine 2013. He's registered 28 tackles and four sacks and has graded out as a top-15 3-4 end in Pro Football Focus' ratings. Jones is scheme-versatile. He could look for a similar deal to what Ricky Jean-Francois received from the Colts -- four years and $22 million with $5.5 million guaranteed.
