Ravens re-signed restricted free agent DE Arthur Jones to a one-year, $2.023 million contract.
Coming off a breakout season where he notched 47 tackles and 4.5 sacks, Jones will compete for a starting job in camp, and should be the favorite at right end over Pernell McPhee and Marcus Spears. Going on 27, Jones graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 18 3-4 end last season. Mar 27 - 3:49 PM

Ravens tendered restricted free agent DE Arthur Jones at the second-round level.

Jones started six of the Ravens' final 10 games last season, registering 47 tackles, 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble. The brother of UFC's Jon "Bones" Jones, Arthur could permanently supplant Pernell McPhee in 2013.

Ravens DE Arthur Jones will compete for the team's starting left end job in training camp.

Outgoing LE Cory Redding landed in Indy with old Ravens DC Chuck Pagano. Pernell McPhee will be Jones' primary competition, although McPhee has been primarily a sub-package player who rushes from the interior in nickel looks. Jones is also a better run defender, making him a superior early-down option.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh expects DL Arthur Jones to see snaps at both end and tackle this season.

"He is going to play the defensive end spot and he is competing for the starting job there, and he is also going to play the 3-technique spot," Harbaugh said. "(He) is going to play a lot of football regardless of where it ends up shaking out." Jones made one start in 14 games last season, notching 20 tackles.

Arthur Jones has moved into the Ravens' starting left end position, ahead of Cory Redding.

Jones was active for just two games in his rookie season, but there's no questioning his ability. He was widely considered a first-round prospect before medical concerns dropped him to the fifth round of the draft two Aprils ago. The left end spot in Baltimore's defense involves a lot of rotating, but Jones looks to be in the driver's seat to play there on early downs.

Ravens signed fifth-round DT Arthur Jones to a three-year contract.

Jones is a major talent, but a torn pectoral muscle and a torn meniscus while at Syracuse has cost him dearly. He's landed in a tough spot to make an impact considering how deep the Ravens are along the defensive line, but has a shot at rotational value.

Syracuse DT Arthur Jones (knee) will not participate in any drills at the Scouting Combine.

Jones, a first-round prospect entering 2009, tore the lateral meniscus in his knee and missed the Orange's final three games. Down into the second-round range now, Jones' stock is falling after skipping the Senior Bowl too.
