Mike Mayock confirmed on the NFL Network's Path to the Draft program Friday night that Abilene Christian OT Tony Washington is a registered sex offender.
There's no real way to tell how much this could affect Washington's draft stock because he made the mistake so long ago (2003, when he was 16). Based on sheer ability, Washington would project as a probable first-round pick. Fri, Mar 12, 2010 07:00:00 PM

Abilene Christian OT Tony Washington reportedly had sex with his 15-year-old biological sister when he was 16, and is a registered sex offender.

It's believed the sexual act, which occurred in May 2003, was consensual. "I made a mistake at the age of 16, and for that, I am deeply sorry," he said in a statement. "I will not try and excuse or justify anything." Washington, who might be a first-round prospect based on size, length, and athleticism alone, was a big recruit at LSU in 2005. He originally received five years' probation and no jail time. Washington is reportedly now on good terms with the sister.

Abilene Christian OT Tony Washington bench pressed 225 33 times at the Combine Friday.

For a guy with 35 1/2-inch arms, 33 reps is very impressive. Teams are most concerned about Washington's off-field history, but on paper he has the skill set to be an NFL left tackle. He'll need to interview well to go early.

Abilene Christian OT Tony Washington measured 6'6/311 with 35 1/2-inch arms at Thursday's Combine weigh-in.

No one's helped himself more at the weigh-in so far. These dimensions are ideal for a left tackle, and athleticism is considered one of the former LSU recruit's top assets. Washington, who blocked for Johnny Knox and Bernard Scott in a dominant D-II offense, entered this process as a fourth-round prospect. Now, it wouldn't be surprising to see him gone in the second.
