Broncos KR Trindon Holliday left Sunday's Week 16 win over the Browns with a sprained ankle.

Holliday has been a real find for the Broncos since they grabbed him off waivers in early October. He's averaged 32.5 yards per kick return and taken one 105 yards to the house. He's also averaged a healthy 10.8 yards per punt return with another score. The severity of Holliday's sprain is unknown.

Broncos claimed KR Trindon Holliday off waivers from the Texans and waived S Duke Ihenacho.

The Colts were the only other team to put in a claim. Holliday was struggling before being waived by the Texans, but the Broncos have gotten similarly limited production from rookie Omar Bolden. Holliday should get a 2-3 week tryout.

Texans released KR Trindon Holliday.

The Texans just don't have room for a return specialist anymore. Holliday was averaging a meager 19.4 yards per kickoff return and 9.2 yards per punt return through five games. They can use rookie WR Keshawn Martin as a returned going forward.

The Houston Chronicle believes KR/PR Trindon Holliday has "made the team" with a strong performance this month.

Coach Gary Kubiak suggested Holliday would finally stick if he proves to be a "special" returner. The 2010 sixth-rounder has responded with 90- and 87-yard returns in preseason action. Holliday finally showed improvement as a receiver in offseason practices, giving Kubiak another excuse to keep him on as the sixth wideout.

Coach Gary Kubiak said KR/PR Trindon Holliday will make the Texans 53-man roster if he proves to be a "special" returner.

He's off to a very good start. Holliday returned a kick 90 yards for a touchdown in the preseason opener, finishing with three kickoff returns for 159 yards and three punt returns for 23 yards. One of the fastest athletes on the planet, Holliday was the NCAA 100-meter dash champion in 2009.

Texans signed KR Trindon Holliday, WR Juaquin Iglesias, DL Sunny Harris, LB Derrell Smith, C Cody Wallace, and DB Torri Williams to reserve/futures contracts.

Holliday doesn't play receiver, so he's a longshot for the 2012 roster even after Jacoby Jones' miscues led in large part to the Texans' season-ending loss. Iglesias was a final cut in Minnesota last September.

Texans waived KR Trindon Holliday.

Holliday doesn't play receiver, so he's more of a roster luxury than necessity as a backup return specialist. His release could be viewed as a sign that the Texans are confident Andre Johnson will return this week, freeing up Jacoby Jones to concentrate on punt returns.

Texans promoted KR Trindon Holliday from their practice squad.

Holliday will immediately take over on kickoff returns, apparently replacing Danieal Manning. The pint-sized player will not contribute on offense.

Texans released WR/KR Trindon Holliday from their practice squad.

Holliday was a fan favorite coming out of LSU thanks to his world-class speed, but he goes just 5'6/169. With the NFL's new kickoff rules, any value he had is circling the toilet.

Texans signed WR/KR Trindon Holliday, WR Jeff Maehl, RB Chris Ogbannaya, S Shiloh Keo, LB Mister Alexander, C Howard Barbieri, and OG Andrew Gardner to their practice squad.

Holliday is going to have a tougher time carving out a lengthy NFL career under the league's new kickoff rules. Maehl is getting the practice squad nod over Dorin Dickerson and Terrence Toliver, who were also released Saturday. Ogbannaya lost out to Steve Slaton for the final backfield roster spot.

Texans KR Trindon Holliday returned to practice Monday after missing all of the preseason with a hamstring injury.

Extremely brittle and undersized, Holliday entered camp as a long shot and confirmed he won't make the team by missing so much action. The Texans' punt returner this year will be Jacoby Jones. Danieal Manning will return kickoffs.

Special teams coordinator Joe Marciano concedes that KR Trindon Holliday could get caught in the roster crunch again this year.

"If I lived in a perfect world, hopefully he'd be our kickoff returner and Jacoby Jones would be our punt returner," said Marciano. "But ... we may not have that luxury." Holliday isn't a strong enough receiver to make the offensive depth chart, and his return skills are mitigated by the new kickoff rules.

The Texans are not expected to keep KR Trindon Holliday on the 2011 roster.

It's players like Holliday who will be most affected by the NFL's kickoff-rule changes -- he has no offensive value. "I don't see him having the hands to be a receiver," writes beat reporter John McClain. "I don't see (the Texans) keeping him to be a kickoff returner, either." If Holliday is cut before the season, he'll finish his Texans "career" with zero games played.

Texans placed KR Trindon Holliday on injured reserve with ligament damage in his thumb, ending his season.

The most over-hyped rookie of the 2010 class, Holliday wasn't more than a track star at LSU, and was never cutout for a full-time NFL special teams role, let alone to contribute at receiver. The Texans will bring him back for a retry in 2011 training camp, but Holliday's long-term outlook is bleak.
