Titans claimed G Mitch Petrus off waivers from the Patriots.

This is a depth move for the Titans with the likelihood that LG Steve Hutchinson is out for the season. Petrus started three regular season games for the Giants last season, but was used sparingly this year in New England, playing just 20 snaps.

Patriots OL Mitch Petrus was added to the Week 13 injury report and is listed as questionable with an illness.

New England has a bit of a bug making its way through the locker room. Fellow OL Markus Zusevics is also questionable with an illness. It shouldn't me much of an issue, as long as it doesn't spread any further.

Patriots signed OG Mitch Petrus.

A 2010 fifth-round pick by the Giants, Petrus gained fame for bench-pressing 225 pounds a whopping 45 times at the Combine. He'll add depth on the interior in New England.

Giants re-signed OG Mitch Petrus.

Petrus was initially waived when the Giants claimed D.J. Jones off waivers from the Eagles. Jones failed his physical, so the G-Men turned back to Petrus. Petrus, 25, made three starts last season and struggled mightily. The Giants should hope that they don't have to turn back to him to start games in 2012.

Giants agreed to terms with fifth-round OG Mitch Petrus on a four-year contract.

The G-Men have three picks left to sign: Jason Pierre-Paul, Linval Joseph, and Matt Dodge. Petrus, an athletic former fullback at Arkansas, could fall in line as New York's left guard of the future. Assuming Williams Beatty wins the left tackle job, Petrus would back up David Diehl inside adjacent him.

Giants selected Arkansas OG Mitch Petrus with the No. 147 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Petrus gained fame by bench pressing 225 pounds a whopping 45 times at the Combine, and is an underrated athlete as a former starting fullback for the Razorbacks. He's not a special talent and is limited to guard, but fits the Giants as a reserve type with power-blocking potential at a stout 6'3/310.

Arkansas OG Mitch Petrus posted 5.25 and 5.28 forty times during his pro day workout Thursday.

Petrus ran a 5.32 at the combine before pulling a hamstring, so this was just a slight improvement. He also did a workout at center for three offensive line coaches Thursday, looking to increasing his versatility.

Arkansas OG Mitch Petrus pulled his left hamstring running the forty-yard dash on Saturday. He timed 5.32.

Petrus is a short, stocky guy with a powerful base, so he was never going to clock especially well in the forty. The extent of his injury is unknown, but he's done working out for the day. Petrus still made a solid impression in Indy.

Arkansas OG Mitch Petrus tied the Combine record for most reps of 225 with 45 Friday at the Combine.

Ohio State DE Mike Kudla, who didn't make it in the pros, was the previous record holder. Obviously, bench press reps don't translate to NFL success, but Petrus' total is impressive nonetheless. He is a converted fullback.
